=Africa=
• The opening of the Aswan High Dam increases Egypt’s economy
• Idi Amin launches a coup and sends emissaries to China and the Soviet Union. However massive shipment of Chinese aid to Milton Obolte causes this to be badly timed as the loyal Presidential forces outgun and massacre 1,500 of Amin’s supporters on the streets of the capital, bombing neighborhoods where they hold out into the dirt. Defecting captains turn Amin over to Obolte, who declares himself in a treaty of friendship with China.
• Chinese arms arrive in Eat Africa as Zambia signs a treaty of Friendship.
• Chinese arms arrive in Sudan, increasing the effectiveness of an offensive against the rebels that drives them into guerilla warfare.
• In Madagascar, Monima receives assistance form chine agents who help arrange guerilla attacks and bombings that leave the national infrastructure crippled. In famine-infested regions, the movement recruits with aid.
• The President of Madagascar, in these circumstances, is forced to sign a Treaty of Military Cooperation with France.
• Emile Zinsou becomes the Prime Minister of Dahomey after a number of bribes from the Societe-Generale in France are reported to his opposition shortly after they endorse him. Subsequently, these disgraced polticians retire in France, where they chance into possession of luxurious villas along the Cote d’Azur. Zinsou signs an Agreement of Mutual Growth and Cooperation with France and, with French guns, makes a Presidential Guard.
• Mobutu launches a campaign with French support against his rebellion, collecting defectors in his capital and engaging in bombing runs with his meager air force, but it’s better than anything the Communists can muster. Receiving considerable aid form several Capitalist countries and seeing his debt paid off by foreigners, Mobutu’s regime succeeds in driving Kabila into exile.
• Laurent Kabila is shot in the back by a child soldier, but gets up after a week of hospitalization to see his front collapse.
• In Burundi, the Tutsi junta receives Chinese aid and uses it to massacre Zairean-armed Hutu rebels, but more rise up after the atrocities, and with new arms and training camps, begin border forays.
Zintan and Cyrenican tribes in Libya rise up against Gadaffi.
• Joachim Opango launches offensives against the leftist government of the PR Congo in Brazzaville, taking three neighborhoods and shooting two high ranking cabinet ministers.
• Mali breaks several agreements with the USSR after Traore meets with French economists and advisers and proclaims a “new course” towards “mixed economic growth”.
• The Chadian “government” destroys several arms convoys en route from Francafrqiue countries into rebel territory.
• The strength of the Zambian opposition increases.
• Nigeria sings a trade deal with the UK and BP takes over Shell oil wells after the national revenue service audits them, causing a massive drop in Dutch Shell share value.
• Ethiopia’s anti-famine structure improves and its agricultural output increases due to Western-assisted development.
• Officers in Angola in the wake of the Portuguese coup are pressured to return to Portugal, but first by CIA agents to release the governnet’s administration tan FNLA-MPLA coalition, formed in light of the leftist assassination attempt on Savimbi’s life. Threatened with abandonment by America, FNLA joins the coalition and Savimbi is declared president. The other colonies fall under leftist control.

=America=
• Apollo 14 lands on the moon and popularity increases slightly
• The seabed treaty outlaws nuclear weapons on the ocean floor
• American income increases at European expense as the dollar floods into European markets and banking sectors.
