Zachary Goldman, Kansas (R-L)
In the words of the aforementioned President Roosevelt: "Conservation means development as much as it does protection. I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use the natural resources of our land but I do not recognize the right to waste them, or to rob, by wasteful use, the generations that come after us."
Any and all proposed amendments are welcome, ladies and gentlemen. This bill legislates the following:
- Instituting tax breaks for all agricultural businesses which raise pure-blood buffalos as cattle for human consumption, in order to provide an incentive for the industry to grow and the number of bisons raised as livestock to increase.
- In addition to this, further tax breaks will be granted to Native Americans who engage in said industry within the nation's reservations, to ensure that the long-standing traditions of our indigenous population will be preserved as well as the bison itself.
- Providing a credit from the federal treasury to the Windcave National Park (South Dakota, founded 1903) and the National Bison Range (Montana, founded 1908), for the local wildlife authorities to use in improving their facilities, which are crucial to the bison's conservation.
- Allocating one credit as an initial cost for re-founding the American Bison Society, disbanded in 1935 at a time when its work was assumed to be completed. This Society will allow for nation-wide work to be done in cooperation between local and federal authorities, ecological researchers, and concerned citizens.
