Blacksmiths' Bridge (Kuznetsky Most)

Kuznetsky Most, known to many just as the Armory, is one of the Metro's - or perhaps the Red Line's - greatest assets. Located right below an weapons and munitions factory, many of the factory workers and much their equipment found themselves taking shelter in the station when the Surface fell.

It became the subway's prime producer of weapons, both maintaining old arms and forging new, improvised ones. Old military grade ammunition and leftover gunpowder is turned into ammunition of lower quality but much cheaper. Its militia is very well-equipped, and thanks to the station's engineer population its technology is higher than most of the known Metro's, save for Polis and the Baumansky Alliance.

While nominally independent, Kuznetsky Most's close location to the Red Line has led to an almost complete Communist domination of the station, which is under firm Red "protection". Most of its arms goes to the Nazi-Red conflict nowadays, with a harsh curfew instituted and frequent arrests of dissidents and suspected spies.

Paveletskaya


Poor, poor Paveletskaya. Few stations in the Metro have suffered such a fate. Its outward gates, protecting the station from mutant attacks and the grim reality of radioactivity, have been partially destroyed, leaving Paveletskaya completely exposed to the outside world. Much less fortunate than Sevastopolskaya, the station has been severely polluted, with many children born with mutations, and all attempts to cover the opening with steel plates have failed. Walling it off with concrete might have worked, but the weakened inhabitants have neither the strength or resources to do it.

Receiving much sympathy from surrounding factions, and the occassional aid package from a Hansa wanting to guard its precious Ring Line, the few defenders of Paveletskaya manage to scrape by, but only just barely.

The station could fall at any minute, be it to radiation or mutant attacks. The only reason the inhabitants haven't all left is that the Hansa just won't let them. Few doubt the station's coming fate.

Pervomay Republic

The Moscow Police was never all that liked by the people, but it had one distinct advantage, it was numerous and despite being corrupt, it was trained well. In most places in the Metro, after the war, the Police has melted with the general populace, little of its traditions or men remain active.

Pervomay is the exception to the rule, in the initial days of the collapse the Police established a firm control over the station, with the cadre of high-ranking policemen becoming the leaders of the new-born republic. With the collapse of the Izmailov connection and the tunnels and depots in the area, the station became isolated.

This created a curious situation in Pervomay, with most Stalkers and the rulers being high-ranking policemen, the Pervomayans were kept in the dark about what happened above. Soon enough, contact with the rest of the Metro was re-established thanks to the Stalkers traveling the treacherous grounds of Izmailov Park, but the population in general were not informed of this. With the top brass fearing the influence of the people of the Metro, Pervomay became isolated, ruled by the Autocratic Police officers and only trading with Baumanskaya for essentials over the ruins of Izmailov. The rest of the Metro knows about Pervomay, but for all the people of Pervomay know, the station remains isolated and alone.

Kalinin Confederation

Little is known about the Confederation of Kalinin, what is known arrives by way of traders in Marxiskaya, arriving from Iliych Square. Hansa refuses to venture anywhere outside of the confines of the tunnels of Marxist station, due to the downright bizarre anomalies in the southern and eastern tunnels. In the south, the moment one closes the Proletarian station, weird sounds and sights start to torture the unready. While some are able to pass, many lose their lives in the tunnels. The Marxist Station - Iliych Square tunnel anomaly however is far more bizarre, as periodically a massive wave of fire sweeps through the tunnel and anyone caught in is incinerated instantly, the tunnel lined with the ashes of those who dared walk it.

Due to these events and the unpredictability of it little is known about what goes on in the tunnels behind those stations, but thanks to the few Kalinin traders and Stalkers who brave the anomalies the Metro has an idea of the society of the Confederation. Seemingly, it is a liberal democracy characterized by its frequent and impartial elections and numerous ballots. While it is self-sufficient, it is seemingly tortured by attacks from mutants, active raids from bandits and a massive plague sweeping through Rimskaya, Ilich Square and Aeromotor Station. Recent rumors claim that the Confederation has had to isolated Rimskaya, as the infection went out of control there, essentially dooming the station.
