Preamble:
Recognising the long-standing historical ties between the Anglo-Saxon and Germanic peoples,
Noting the close familial links of blood between the great royal houses of Hanover and Hohenzollern,
Acknowledging the shared hope for peace, progress and prosperity among the British and German peoples,
Desiring that efforts should be made to promote such goals,
The following Treaty of Friendship between the British Empire and the German Empire is set forth.

Articles:

I.The contracting parties solemnly declare that there shall be lasting peace and friendship between the two countries, and that each side shall respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the other and refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of the other, including their colonies, dominions and suzerains;

II.The contracting parties recognize the necessity for colonialism, and reaffirm their determination to strive to civilize the people and develop the territories under their respective empires;

III.The contracting parties shall begin mutually advantageous cooperation in the economic, scientific, military, and technical fields, and shall develop initiatives and a trade agreement in the fields of commerce, transport and communication;

IV.The contracting parties shall maintain regular contacts and exchange views with each other on major international problems affecting the interest of both parties, and consult and agree with one another before taking actions that might activate Article VII below, or else invalidate Articles V-VIII for the duration of the conflict;

V.In accordance with these ties of friendship existing between the two countries, each of the contracting parties solemnly declares that it shall not enter into or participate in any military alliance directed against the other party;

VI.Each of the parties shall refrain from any aggression against the other party and shall not allow the use of its territory or colonies for committing any act that may cause military damage to or threaten the security of the other contracting party;

VII.Each of the contracting parties shall refrain from giving any support or assistance to any third party taking part in an armed conflict against the other party;

VIII.Each of the parties solemnly declare that it shall not undertake any commitment, secret or open, towards one or more states which are incompatible with the present treaty;

IX.The present treaty is signed for a term of 10 years, and shall be renewed and/or amended at that time if there is mutual agreement, or else dissolved at that time if the consent of both parties cannot be reached;

X.Any differences interpreting any Article of the Treaty shall be settled on a bilateral basis, by peaceful means, in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding.
