The Nigerian government would like to lodge a formal protest with the American government over their firing upon vessels of the Nigerian navy who were attempting to secure the territorial integrity of Nigerian waters from unauthorized foreign incursion. The Nigerian government was acting perfectly within its right under international law, and we would like a formal apology from the American government for their actions. We have no desire to harm our friendly relationship, but we must naturally act to ensure the integrity of the state that we are fighting to keep.

While the United States has no desire to harm relations between our nations, it will not apologize for defending a legally marked, Geneva compliant hospital ship discharging its duties in international waters.
