Declaration on Smallpox

As of today, on orders of His Holiness, the vaccination of all Citizens of the City of Rome, and of all children born in the future, is to be made compulsory by Law, to once and for all stop the spread of the contagious disease known as Smallpox (Variola Vera, Red Plague, etc.). All Romans are instructed to, once they have been called up to the roll, make their way to the Fatebenefratelli Hospital (Est. 1585) on the Tiber Island, where they will vaccinated. Each man and woman who receives the vaccination shall receive a full day's wage to compensate for this, as well as an additional sum for each child of their family that is vaccinated. Failure to comply will be fined.

A Committee for the Prevention of Epidemics has been appointed by His Holiness to oversee the implementation of this decree, consisting of doctors of the University of Rome as well as hospice-knights of the Hospitaller Order of the Brothers of Saint John of God, who manage the Hospital.

Any Citizen of the City of Rome and Subjects of the Holy See concerned with the safety of this procedure do well to remember the words of a great Christian author: "God who sends the wound sends the medicine." These methods, as first submitted to the Royal Society in 1797 by Dr. Edward Jenner and now, in the Year of Our Lord 1800, spread across all of Europe in all major languages, is entirely safe.

PAPAL BULL ISSUED - FREEMASONS, GODWINISTS AND SARDINIA EXCOMMUNICATED

His Holiness Pope Pius VII as issued a new Papal Bull, effective immediately, entitled Ecclesiam a Jesu Christo. Copies are to be spread across the Italian Peninsula at haste, and translated to other European languages.

The words of His Holiness the Bishop of Rome begin as such:

Ecclesiam a Jesu Christo Servatore Nostro supra firmam petram fundatam, et adversus quam ipsemet Christus promisit numquam portas inferi praevalituras, tot saepe, ac tam formidolosi hostes aggressi sunt, ut nisi divina illa, et quae transire non potest promissio intercessisset, metuendum videretur, ne Ipsa illorum aut vi, aut artibus, aut calliditate circumventa, penitus interiret. Quod vero superioribus temporibus evenit, id etiam et praecipue quidem luctuosa hac nostra aetate factum est, quae novissimum illud tempus esse videtur tanto ante ab Apostolis praenuntiatum, quo venient illusores secundum desideria sua ambulantes in impietatibus. Nec enim quemquam latet quanta scelestorum hominum multitudo difficillimis hisce temporibus convenerit in unum adversus Dominum, et adversus Christum ejus, qui id praecipue curant, ut deceptis per philosophiam, et inanem fallaciam fidelibus, et ab Ecclesiae doctrina avulsis, ipsam Ecclesiam, irrito licet conatu, labefactent, et evertant. Quod ut facilius assequerentur eorum plerique occultos coetus, clandestinasque Sectas coegerunt, ex quibus futurum sperabant, ut plurimos in suae conjurationis et sceleris societatem liberius pertraherent.

And so, it goes on, in the liturgical language, at length. Full copies may be read at your local church, monastery or other mission.

For those Citizens of the City of Rome, and all other good Christians of the Roman Catholic Church, who do not speak the Latin tongue, it can be summarized as such:

• The infallibility of the Bull In eminenti apostolatus issued by His Holiness Pope Clement XII in the Year of Our Lord 1738, and the Apostolic Constitution issued by His Holiness Pope Benedict XIV in the Year of Our Lord 1751, is confirmed. These edicts, banning Catholic Christians from becoming Freemasons or participating in any Masonic group, thus remain in place.

• All Catholic Christians who join Masonic Lodges or other fraternal organizations connected to Freemasonry, who participate in any form of Masonic rituals, ceremonies or other activities, who propagate the ideals of Freemasonry, who print or otherwise spread Masonic literature and other materials, or who in other ways promote or participate in Freemasonry, are to be branded heretical on grounds that they are working against the very core concepts of Christianity, and actively attacking the Church. They shall be automatically excommunicated from the Church, and be denied all sacraments and all participation in religious life, until they renounce their Masonic oaths and reenter our community.

• Also excommunicated are all Catholic Christians followers of the radical atheist brigand William Godwin, regardless of if they personally share his atheistic beliefs or not, on the same grounds as the Freemasons, as they attack the fabric of the Church, the State, and Reality itself.

• Finally, several individuals are declared to be put under ecclesiastical censure in the form of interdiction, and thus prevented from participation in religious rites until further notice, are His Majesty King Charles Emmanuel IV of Sardinia, His Royal Highness Prince Victor Emmanuel of Sardinia, the entirety of their government, as well as the self-proclaimed governments-in-exile of Piedmont and Tuscany. This serious declaration is justified by the very grave nature of the crimes, accepted by the King and carried out by the Prince, which led to the forced conscription of young boys and grey old men, sent to die on the shores of Italy fighting against their fellow Christians, breaking all laws and norms regarding the conduct of warfare. The Church and His Holiness are most disappointed in the King of Sardinia and his family, for allowing this tragic loss of life.

Papal Capital Punishment Reform

The Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Penitentiary has announced that extensive reform within the field of capital punishment will be taking place in the City of Rome, to ensure that no unnecessary cruelty is inflicted upon the children of the Lord, even those condemned to death. All methods of execution previously practised in the States of the Church --- death by hanging, death by decapitation with an axe or a sword, death by burning at the stake, death by drawing and quartering, death by bludgeoning, death by strangulation, death by the crushing of the head with a large mallet, followed by a cutting of the throat ("mazzatello"), and so on, etc. --- are now to be replaced by a singular method, death by decapitation via guillotine, proposed by Dr. Joseph-Ignace Guillotin as the most humane method of execution and designed by Dr. Antoine Louis and Tobias Schmidt.

Additionally, Giovanni Battista Bugatti --- Master of Justice of Rome since 1796 --- shall henceforth carry out all executions in private behind closed doors, instead of as previously publicly on the Ponte Sant'Angelo, the Piazza del Popolo, and Via dei Cerchi near the Piazza della Bocca della Verita. Likewise, from now on no decapitated heads or limbs will be publicly displayed within the City of Rome.

Among those to be executed in this humane manner within the next three months are Giuseppe Zuccherini, Giuseppe Sfreddi and Giacomo d'Andrea (all convicted of killing a messenger from Venice), Luigi Puerio, Ermenegildo Scani, Gaetano Lideri and Leonardo Ferranti (all convicted of murder), Teodoro Cacciona (convicted of stealing 60 lira and a pair of boots), and Fabio Valeri (convicted of robbing a shopkeeper). God is good, God is merciful. May their souls pass easily, and may they find redemption.
