Simple enough. Let's make our mark internationally. Discuss!
Recognition of Hejaz and Nejd Act
Whereas a 1910 estimate showed the existence of 100,000 African Mohammendan in Brazil, in addition to which there have been extensive amounts of Syrian and Lebanese immigrants to Brazil since the beginning of the 20th century, of which some are practicing Mohammedans,
Whereas many of these Mohammedans view it as part of their required custom to visit the Arabic city of Mecca and there carry out an Islamic pilgrimage, and Brazil currently does not entertain the diplomatic relations necessary for the entry of its citizens to said region for religious purposes, namely relations with the "Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd",
Whereas the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd, which has promised to protect sacred Mohammedan sites and to improve conditions for pilgrims, was for the first time ever recognised diplomatically by a foreign government on 16 February 1926 by the Soviet Union, rapidly followed by the French Republic, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and - with the 1927 Treaty of Jeddah - the United Kingdom,
- Section 1. The Republic of the United States of Brazil shall issue a telegram of full diplomatic recognition to the Government of the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd.
- Section 2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the United States of Brazil shall be called upon to establish contact with the Government of the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd for the purpose of discussing consular services.
- Section 3. This bill shall go into effect thirty-one (31) days after passage.
