A PRESIDENT MURDERED
From the pages of the Yomiuri Shimbun
Tokyo and the world, for however brief a moment, pause in shock and horror at events unfolding in the Russian Republic as President Alexander Kerensky is now confirmed dead, felled by the bullet of an as of yet anonymous killer in the Russian capital. While his nation begins to mourn and to take action against his killer, the rest of the world ponders how to remember the controversial President Kerensky and what his death means for Russia and its neighbors. Though little loved in Japan, given the contentious relationship with his government and those it replaced, it cannot be doubted that the end of his reign, a period of stability after years of violent civil war, likely marks a new beginning to chaos in Russia.
Those surrounding the Chrysanthemum Throne have been heard to speak of diplomatic dispatches both to figures within Russia, seeking information, and to fellow neighbors of that state in hopes of some assurance that Asia will not once again see an overflowing of Russian civil violence. Meanwhile, the people of Japan and the world are left to look with suspicion and worry at one of the likeliest culprits for Kerensky's death, as some parties of Syndicalist radicals have already boasted of responsibility.
It remains to be seen what response government authorities will take in response, though this paper will remain watchful as ever.
