Though the first German language newspaper in Vienna called Wiennerisches Diarium was published in 1703, it remains merely the purview of the aristocrats and literates to announce their weddings and funerary arrangements, along with some high class regional reporting by reporters that have never visited the regions they're reporting on.
To get the real story you have to hit the many markets of Vienna and get the pulse of the populace and the real international headlines rather than just a bunch of fake news.
