Prologue

Post by Azagal »

As you all wake from your sleep, a resonating voice crackles through the speakers around the Academy.

Acolytes Crigrenat, Lamfor, Morosh, Jerro and Reslar are hereby summoned to the chambers of Lord Kojor. Report there post haste or face the consequences.

As you arrive you notice a closed door. Doubt enters some of your minds as some of you think if this is the right place to be after all. But then Acolyte Reslar takes the initiative and simply knocks on the door. The imperious voice that had summoned you here had clearly not been Lord Kojor himself, as Kojor opened the door with what remained of his morning meal still on the table behind him. Lord Kojor , a large red Zabrak with strong eyes and arms like trees, is not known to be the most ''friendly'' of the Sith Lords, but he will listen to reason.

Lord Brezhnir shows me disrespect again by disturbing me this early in the morning. Now, he said, it seems I will be in charge of you rabble in this stage of your training. As I see you have already gotten your Sith Warblades, it is time for a real challenge. Acolyte Reslar, I have heard of your capabilities. That is why you will be paired with Acolyte Jerro. It has come to our ears that a Jedi Knight has infiltrated the Academy under the pretense of having switched sides. We cannot allow the Jedi to have an ear and eye on our ancestral planet. If you succeed this test I will recommend you with my superiors for immediate acceleration towards your final tests. If you fail, or bring me the wrong head, you will battle to the death in front of me.

Acolytes Cigrenat, Lamfor and Morosh, you shall be tasked with finding the Tomb of Nagash Vruuskh. This long lost Tomb is rumored to be filled with artifacts strongly aligned to the Dark Side of the force and strong defenses worthy of such a mighty Sith Lord. Unlike other Lords on this academy, I value cooperation. The Armies of the Sith Empire cannot fight if we bicker even over the littlest of differences. That is why I send you in together. Overcome your differences and fight as one to combat the defenses of this ancient tomb. As a prove of your success, bring back the armor and the two lightsabers of the ancient Sith Lord himself. Should succeed, the glory of reclaiming the artifacts for the Empire will be yours. Do not fail me.

You are dismissed.

Crigrenat did not like being ordered around. He had come here to escape slavery, not to be an errand boy. Nonetheless, this was the way to move forward, he mused. Crigrenat turns to Morosh, ignorning Lamfor. Lamfor was to be treated with scorn until he proved himself. In Crigenant's eyes he was nothing more than an untested welp, a product of the racial system that allowed weak humans and Sith to rise to the top, unchallenged, untested. Morosh had dealt with the hardships of this universe, and Crigrenat respected him for it.

"I suppose the best way forward it to consult an archaeologist or a database to see what information there is on this Sith Lord. Hopefully there is knowledge on this subject, as I do not plan to spend my next year digging in a desert. Let us head to the library", Crigrenat said in heavily accented basic.

A pair of shrouded, bloodshot eyes blinked slowly, staring at the Twi'lek. It was not clear whether Morosh was actually considering the words of the creature before him, or was staring straight through him into some unknown world beyond. The silence between the two was long and uncomfortable, and at the edge of his awareness, Morosh was aware of the aristocratic youth to his right squirming internally as the tension mounted.

With a sudden shift in his glance to the left, he broke from his reverie, and all at once animated, as though a statue had been brought to life. Morosh swept a hand back over his neatly shaven head, the stubble there like the very tips of an iron brush. He nodded once.

"The Archives will reveal all. We must meditate on the wisdom of the Masters past, and seek out their knowledge."

With no more to say, he turned heel and lifted the hood of his cloak to cover his head, before heading off in the direction of the Archives.

Sabrae gave a smile as taut as razor-wire at the conclusion of the Zabrak's command, taking in his powerful aura with something that in a more emotive personality would have passed for admiration. “As you command, Lord,” she intoned dutifully, voice as brittle as a Hoth night. “The Jedi will be found.”

Without so much as moving her eyes (or what one supposed were her eyes) in the direction of Reslar, she drifted to his side, shallow breaths a steady hum as she murmured, “The weakness of the Jedi is in their devotion, brother. Their auras burn with the ideals they vaunt so highly.”

A grim...laugh, of sorts, bubbles up hoarsely from her throat, and she places a hand on the pureblood's shoulder. “Just as sight blinds the seeing, our infiltrator will be blind to our finding. I need only use the Force to feel them out.”

Reslar turned his head slightly to the side to look down at his 'partner'. "I suppose we shall see." The powerfully-built Sith gave a very slight nod, considering the matter, "And of course, there's little doubt that this spying Jedi will seek somewhere to hide away from prying eyes. If you find them, then we can follow and catch them unaware."

He turned his full attention back to Kojor, nodding: "It is as Acolyte Jerro says, my Lord. The Jedi will be found and we shall put an end to them."

Behind a boyish composure, a young student tested control of his anger.

"A fine idea. Our predecessors have much to teach, and the sooner we cooperate, the better. It shall be done my lord Kojor."

Ignoring the barbarian Crigrenat's petty jealousy, the young Lamfor strode off towards the archive also.

As the three acolytes enter the archives, a young woman seemingly no older then you bumps into you. Appearances are however not what they are,as the woman sits down at the desk of the Head Archivist. Most of your training prior to this was sparring practice or direct with the Masters. Even when you had been to the archives, the seat behind the desk had been empty. Stunned that one so young had reached so far, and humbled by the fact that might be your destiny, you went up to her desk and asked for information on this Tomb.

''It is an ancient tale'' she said. Long lost has this tomb been. However, you are in luck. I might be the only person on this planet that knows even a clue of where the tomb of the long forgotten Sith Master might be located. While my age may be decieving, I, Biserka Maskro, have travelled across the Galaxy and this planet, in search of artifacts and knowledge. Nagash Vruuskh had been a powerful Sith Master during his life. He is one of few to have been able to claim the title of Darth, calling himself Darth Vancitus. I will aid you in your search, but this comes at a price. The legends tell of an ancient cubic entity, hidden in a deep, secret chamber of the Tomb. This entity is rumored to contain a Force entity representing the long deceased Darth himself. To gain access to his wisdom and the source of his strength would be an enormous boon to our archives, and in time, might even help to learn Acolytes like you. If you acquire this cube for me, I shall aid you in any way possible on your...unimportant side mission.

Now, what do you say ?

She awaits an answer

"Your offer seems fair, but we would confer before agreeing to what I am minded to agree with."

Lamfor nods, and turns to Crigrenat and Morosh.

"I believe this fair, and in all our interests - as a boon to the archives, it would improve the lot of all Sith to gain this artifact. And if we win the support of Biserka Maskro, it is no ill thing. I would happily proceed alone, but would prefer we three continue to work together."

Crigrenat turned directly to the archivist, ignoring the boy. " Your terms seem fair and we agree to your deal. What clues do you have about the location of the tomb, and what can we expect to find inside?"

Sabrae dipped her head in agreement, and retracting her slender grip from the pureblood's shoulder, made for the exit, thinking to find a registry of new arrivals - the Jedi's pretense would prove their undoing, she was certain. "If our infiltrator has made a claim to defection," she reasoned aloud, "then I have no doubt that there is a record of his presence among us. It thus becomes a question of leverage."

Pulling on a pair of gloves as they walked, she nodded again, more emphatically deciding, "Blood is the key." Another thin wisp of a smile, and more humming. "Yours, precisely. Who can doubt the loyalty of our mighty purebloods, and the justice of their aims?"

Throughout all of this, Morosh had stood idle, hardly focused, swaying slightly from side to side. The keenest of ears might have made out strange and perverse mutterings from his immobile lips, tinged blue and heavily chewed - incantations, no doubt, though for what malign purpose it was impossible to tell.

However, sensing Lamfor's murderous intent as events unfolded around him, a peculiar smile broke over Morosh's face, as he breathed in deeply, a look of near-ectasy upon his face. Breaking from his reverie, he addressed the Archivist.

"Yes, tell us what you know. We will retrieve the cube for you if you but tell us of its location."

As you wander around the academy, you locate the Acolyte Record Room. However, when you arrive, instead of finding a locked door restricted to acolites, you find a forced open archive. Accessing it, you learn that an unauthorized user altered about five or so files by swapping and editing information. Whoever did it has either done a good job at creating a false lead on the Jedi Knight, or did a sloppy job covering their tail. However, at least you now have information on the possible Jedi, be it false or not...
