'Seven Heavens and an Infinite Number of Earths': Grand Mufti Issues Fatwa
RIYADH- After consulting senior members of the ulama and the Majilis al Shura, Grand Mufti Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al ash-Sheikh has issued a fatwa in the wake of the arrival of supposed extraterrestrial beings in Argentina. The decision, which comes after the news that British patrols off the Falklands, were reportedly unable to approach occupied Argentina, was decided after extensive debate between two major factions of the ulama, with the Grand Mufti opposed by those supporters of prominent cleric Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz who called for the conversion of the invading race.
“It is said in Surah At-Talaq that Allah has created 'seven heavens and an infinite number of Earths,'” the Grand Mufti stated. “And further, it is acknowledged that 'Allah is over all things competent and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge.' These...extraterrestrials, if that is indeed what they are, may not be Muslims but exist no farther from the creation and power of Allah than Jews, Christians, or other non-believers.”
Objecting, Sheikh bin Baz echoed his previous fatwa, which proclaimed that the Earth is flat, "We must make careful checks whenever the kafir or the immoral tell us something: we cannot believe or disbelieve them until we get sufficient proof on which the Muslims can depend." Equally controversial as its first issuing, the statement soon provoked serious argument on the floor of the Majilis, prompting several well-known scholars to reject the claims of the British and Latin American forces, instead calling for a “truly Islamic investigation” based upon Qur'anic study. This, in turn, was quickly rejected, with the Grand Mufti appealing for order, support for international investigation and continued attempts to contact the occupation forces of Argentina, stating:
“It is therefore that the obligation of all Muslims is found, once again, in the Qur'an. 'Remind them, for you are only one who reminds.' The truth of the Prophet's message is found in cooperation and leadership, as the Rashidun once proved to the unbelievers whose lands now encompass the house of Islam. 'Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and beware: if you do turn back, then know that it is Our Messenger’s duty to proclaim in the clearest manner.'”
His Majesty the King has echoed the calls of the Grand Mufti, and furthermore, through his ministers, discouraged “superstition”, particularly among those who label potential alien life as “jinn” or “angels”.
Mutaween Reformed Amidst Atheistic Sedition
JEDDAH- Four men and two women were arrested on charges of apostasy and treason by the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Elimination of Sin after allegations of Nasserist and communistic ties were found by several leading clerics to be sufficient grounds for searching their homes. The criminals, once brought before the local courts, were found to be guilty of atheism and, in the case of the women, sexual misconduct, were given three days to repent and return to the Islamic faith.
The news comes on the heels of a royal proclamation on the Committee, which has been authorized to recruit those of the Zaydi and Ismaili minority communities as junior members of the police, ordering it to investigate allegations of Nasserist and Posadist sympathies within the air force. Those tried for apostasy have only furthered the accusations, naming several prominent practitioners of witchcraft to be supporters of the apostate Nasserists, with many arrests coming on behalf of the new, minority-based recruits to the Committee.
It is unknown at this time if the alleged conspiracy has its origins within Cairo, but a spokesman for the Committees assured reporters that the religious police would cooperate with intelligence forces.

Thought for the Day: "Those who believe and do good, their Lord guides them by their faith; rivers will flow beneath them in Gardens of bliss. Their cry therein will be, Glory to Thee, O Allah and their greeting, Peace! And the last of their cry will be Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds!" Qur'an 10:9-10
