1630hrs:

Rain pings off of the hood of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class. A dark dreary winter day, but fairly warm. John performs a weapons check on his silenced SIG-Sauer P250. 14, plus one in the chamber. John wouldn't need fire a single round if all went to plan he thought.

Marlena finished checking her silenced Glock 22. "You guys ready?" she asked Davy, Eddie, and Rip who replied in the affirmative, all with their masks on.

Marlena went over the plan quickly one last time. "Right, Davy you stay with the car. Use your R25 if we need cover upon our exit. Eddie, Rip, you guys are with me and John. Rip you're crowd control, do not fire your shotgun unless you absolutely need to. Myself, Eddie, and John are finding the manager and going for that vault. Eddie you carry the bags in. I'll go in first an take out the rent-a-cop guard. John, Rip, you guys should be right behind me."

"Are we good with that?" says Marlena as she looks around making eye contact with everyone.

Robert "John" Pilgrim was unfazed by the events about to unfold. Even if things did not go according to plan, they were decently prepared - equipment for a confrontation had been prepared, as many guns as possible had silencers, spare ammunition and fuel had been set aside, masks and related assets were purchased to avoid leaving behind the obvious DNA & facial trails... Now the plan had to be put in motion and the outcome played out.

"I am ready, let us begin. And try to avoid killing him if you can - he is going to be little threat, and they will care less about us if we do not leave behind casualties. Three months in this will be just another robbery filed away in some prosecutor's aging archive."

He was confident the plan could work, but unexpected situations could occur all the time. They lived in a city with superheroes and supervillains after all, so those were the real threat. Everyone else

16:32hrs

Marlena nodded at John and pulled her black ski mask down over her face. She popped the front passenger door open and headed across Quintard Street, keeping her Glock in hand, and concealed underneath her jacket. After a slight speed walk she got to the sidewalk. Eddie and Rip then left the backseat of the car and began to follow, concealing their weapons as best they could.

Davy spoke up "No turning back now, you're up John, I need to get into the driver seat."

John nodds and promptly gets off the car, his mask already on. Everything will be done professionally, no unnecessary delays or time wasted. Taking the out the guard first is the right thing to do considering they are walking in masked - then again, they did not really have many options in this day and age. 'Everywhere is being watched, your information on the Internet can be traced from anywhere, who knows - perhaps robberies like this are becoming a thing of the past and in twenty years the militarized robot police will make them impossible without an alien invasion to mess things up.' He thought. But it is not like he would shy from the challenge, if he was still fit enuogh.

He follows Marlene silently, as she is in charge of this operation. He knows what to do, and how he will do it.

16:33hrs

The bank guard was too busy texting on his phone to notice Marlena's approach. He turned to enter the bank vestibule, as he did Marlena grabbed the back of his neck with one hand and threw his head forward, slamming it into the glass door, her other hand grabbed the gun on his right hip. The glass did not shatter from the impact, but the guard was out cold.

Marlena dragged his body into the vestibule as she tucked his Beretta 92FS in her waistband. Rip, and Eddie passed by her and entered the bank, with guns drawn.

Eddie yelled "Everyone! Get on the fucking ground! Do it now!"

Eddie pointed his gun directly at the teller counter. Rip did the same with his shotgun. The Tellers reacted by backing away from the teller desk and getting on the ground, out of sight.

John entered the bank. He immediately noticed a thick barrier of plexi-glass that looked as if it could withstand everything but a gunshot. Over the heads of the Teller were cameras mounted on the wall.

John knew there was likely to be panic buttons attached to the teller booths. He knew he either had to get behind there, or find a way to ensure they would not hit the panic button. John had seconds to make a decision on the matter.

"Someone neutralize the cameras. Either cover them or destroy them." John said knowing that they would most likely just shot straight at them. He said this without taking his eyes of the people inside the teller booths.

"Do exactly as I say: Cover your eyes and ears with your palms. Do anything else and someone will pay for it." Granted such a thing would likely not be necessary, but a threat issued had to be followed through. With all the orders given, John aimed his gun at the glass and shot it. He had to make sure he could pierce it.

16:34hrs

The plexi glass cracked, and allowed John's bullet to penetrate. Rip ordered one of the tellers to let him in behind the Teller booth. A female teller complied with Rips order. Rip proceeded to smash the cameras with the butt of his shotgun.

As that was happening Marlena and Eddie grabbed a man in a suit from the Managers office. The man was visibly shaken and had tears streaming down his face as he pleaded for his life.

Marlena spoke to him calmly "If you open the vault for us, you'll live. Will you do that?" The manager nodded. "Good boy" Marlena said. Marlena pushed the Manager towards Eddie. "Get him to the vault" she said.

John's shot through the plexi-glass scared the three patrons laying on the floor in front of the teller booth, who were clenching their ears tightly still.

Marlena approached John. "John I'll stay out here. Why don't you go with Eddie and tell him to grab whatever you'd like from the vault". Marlena kept her gun trained on the patrons. Rip stood behind the Teller booth doing the same.

John nodded in agreement. The plexi-glass was not bulletproof and nobody wanted to play the hero yet.

"Marlene, if you or the guys know any hacking tricks now is the time to dust them off. If can get into the system we can sell the data - if not, just grab the hard drives and whatever else you fancy from the computers."

With that, John moved forward towards the vault. Before he could leave earshot range however he gave one last order: "And have someone seize the security footage."

He would likely get to do the last himself along the way, but it never hurt to leave an order behind in case he got busy. It never hurts to be cautious.

16:34hrs

John entered the vault room with Eddie and the Manager.

Eddie had his SIG pressed against the managers head. "Open it now" he said. The manager complied, then sunk to his knees, crying.

The door opened to a narrow hallway with two rooms on opposing sides. In the room on the right there were large stacks of cash bills in multiple denominations wrapped in plastic. In the room on the left there were hundreds of safety deposit boxes that lined the walls.

Eddie entered and dropped the bags in the hallway. "Fuck, look at all that cash" Eddie said as he pulled out his buck knife to cut the plastic.

"Toss me a bag John" said Eddie.

John knew there was a risk that some of those cash stacks could have dye packs in them. He could either double down on the cash grab or get that manager in here to open some of the safety deposit boxes.

"Hold on Eddie, some of these could be rigged." John says taking a look at the crying manager. Firmly, he placed a hand on the manager's left shoulder. "Now listen closely, we have no idea who you are nor do we care, we are here for the cash. However, if we get away from here and said cash turns useless then we will have a problem with you. Understand? So point us to everything of value without underhanded tricks." He looked over the man for a moment before removing his hand. "It goes without saying that I require you to hand me any devices, cards, whatever in case there are booby-traps in here we are taking with us."

16:35

The manager surrendered a master key to the safety deposit boxes. "There are random dye packs in the stacks of cash" said the manager as he handed the key to John.

"Fuucck" Eddie said as he emptied the cash from the bag. "Lets dump some boxes into these bags John".

John could hear a commotion from the front of the bank. He could hear Marlena yelling at someone to get down on the ground. It sounded like someone attempted to enter the bank through the main entrance.

[Rising Phoenix]

"That is our cue to hurry up." John started grabbing as many boxes as he could and throwing them inside the bags at hand. He looked at the scared manager again: "While we are here, where is the security room?" There might not be one, but he was aiming to get the security footage. Every precaution they could take would help them in the long run. "I also need access to all bank records and transitions you have at hand." He said, still filling up the bags.

He did not worry about the front door. It is unlikely the police are here yet - and Marlene already has support there. He grabbed two boxes at random and tried the key, just to make sure he was not being tricked.

16:36hrs

"We don't have a security room" replied the manager. "Security footage is recorded to an off site location". The manager continued to answer John's questions. "I don't have access to what you're looking for, we're just a branch office."

As the manager was replying to his questions, John popped open two boxes using the key. One had seven large diamonds inside, the other a handful of smaller ones.

Eddie's eyes got big. "That beats the hell out of cash!" He said as he grabbed more boxes and stashed them into the bags.

"Thank you for cooperating. Which security company handles the cameras, then?" John said as he locked the boxes and put them in the bag, then then hid the key in a secure pocket. "Sure it does, Eddie. We should pack as many of these as we can. Forget the cash entirely, these diamonds are what we are after."

16:37

Eddie continued packing the deposit boxes "You got it".

BOOOOM!! a loud gunshot interrupted John's next thought.

Yelling between Marlena and Rip could be heard. They were arguing loudly.

Marlena appeared suddenly. "We have to go NOW!" she continued, "That fucking idiot out there blasted a teller who went for the panic alarm. Someone is definitely going to call about that gunshot".
