A Bold Vision of an Urban Future
President Barzani and Minister of Finance Kader El-Amin made public appearances today announcing a series of sweeping urbanization plans aimed at modernizing the city and reducing the number of people living in informal housing. The project, which includes several high-rise residential buildings, mixed-use spaces, improvements to biking and walking infrastructure, and parks, combined with a colony-wide recycling and urban greening initiative, seeks to bring Mahd adh Dhahab on par with the greatest metropolitan centers of earth. "We hope to make our city more beautiful, more self reliant, and more reflecting of it's melting pot of cultures." Barzani said at the unveiling ceremony of the Sulaimani Towers development, a massive complex modeled on the Abraj Al Bait of Saudi Arabia and intended to be the new crown jewel of the Downtown District. Investments in Industry
A number of light industry start ups look to take advantage of a tax rebate and investment program set up in the coming months. Of special interest are the clothing and consumer electronics sectors, according to Finance Minister Kader El-Amin. At a trade show in New Europa, Naser Telecommunications unveiled the Zawda 6g LTE, a touchscreen smartphone with the technology to except two SIM cards at the same time. Designed for travelers both international and interplanetary, this system allows users to keep one handset for use with two different network providers. Although Naser's factory is still under construction, the prototypes shown at the expo proved very popular and they hope to begin taking preorders. Also featured was a line of men's and women's fashions designed by renowned Algerian-born designer Thaabita Elbaz, to be handmade in Mahd adh Dhahab from locally sourced cotton and linen.

Tourism Campaign Seeks Visitors to Medina District
As the planet mourns the disaster of Phobos Station, some business owners in the Medina District see a silver lining. Backed by the Mahd adn Dhanad Ministry of Tourism, they're encouraging high season tourists stranded by the incident to extend their vacations - in the Cradle. "The District has number of landmarks, museums, and classically styled buildings the likes of which do not exist anywhere else in Mars.", Badri Muhammed, a Tourism spokesman, told Al-Arabiya. "In addition, the strong season coincides with the festival of Islamic art and culture, so there will be food, live music, and plenty to see and do for the remainder of the season."
The Ministry says it will offer discounts for travel and hotel rooms to any off world visitors who wish to come to Medina, with additional rebates for Hotsprings City guests who may otherwise have no place to go for lodging.
