Landfall: First Contact

Image
Some call them gods. Others have named them angels, guardians, defenders of the mortal planes from powers incomprehensible to us. They themselves give different names to different questions, but in all ages the title of Conducers they have claimed. Clad in light to our eyes, we can but guess at their true form or purpose. In their three summitless towers they have dwelt, inspiring reverence and jealousy, appearing to the favoured in dreams and in the present, but into their towers few ever have entered.

Yet a new era dawns, and the Conducers have spoken to the mortal powers of the land and opened their gates to us. The Towers are open, and their purpose revealed. For in each tower is a path to new worlds, more foreign and dangerous than can be imagined. New opportunities for the brave, and worries for the cautious.

A time of first contact with new worlds now begins. But the question on every mind surely remains: why now? And what awaits through the towers?
Three playable worlds, suddenly finding themselves interlinked. Completely alien to each other, you won't initially know what's going on everywhere else as you explore. The three worlds will have entirely different histories and, therefore, rules for how they get to act - but you'll also be free to flesh out the history of your races, world and kingdoms, within the boundaries of what's stipulated. In three words: Fantasy first contact.

Players indicate which world they'd like to start in order of preference, and I then pm them details of their assigned world and they can sign up as a specific realm, to keep the exploration factor present and others in the dark.

The three worlds are:
  • A human-inhabited world of late-medieval tech guns, guts and glory. [4+ players]
  • An avian-inhabited, but less advanced and populated world at an Iron Age level. [2+ players]
  • An insectoid-inhabited world of constant warfare at a medieval level. [2+ players]
Three towers give access from your plane to other worlds; World 1, for instance, can travel to world 2, and from there onto World 3; but World 2 has access to Worlds 1 and 3 without delay.

Though we have a healthy mix, as the most advanced and populous world, I'd prefer if we got more human players, simply due to their importance at the top of the tech tree. However if we get another human to make it five, additional players can join as whoever.

Then when it comes to private sign-ups for the world itself, you get a map and detailed information on the world in your inbox, and eventually access to the private forum for each world to begin with. Then, as folk get to know each other, a common forum becomes more acceptable.

At present, this is how things stand:

World 1
- BgKnight
-
-
-

World 2
- Gesar
- Huojin

World 3
- Flamelord
- Snacks

So I need (ideally) 3 more players in world 1. OYID will unfortunately be shunted in there if we don't get at least 2 more dirty apes, but if we do World 3 has another playable space. Here was me thinking it was for the nonhumans I'd have difficulty getting folk to sign up in :D

I've decided I'd rather be human now. So World 1 is my new top choice and World 3 is no. 2.

Alrighty, awesome. Smyg has also said he'll be human, which leaves us with:
World 1
- BgKnight
- OYID
- Smyg
-

World 2
- Gesar
- Huojin

World 3
- Flamelord
- Snacks
So one gap I'd like filled before we're underway, after which there'll still be sign ups available, but the majors should be taken, hopefully. :D Main post will be updated momentarily with the sign-ups.

I'm writing up the intro pms for folk to choose their realm, before an admin will hopefully take pity on this mere mortal user and create us some forums and I'll get to rule-writing and background-expanding for each world. \o/

Humans or the avians, whatever's free. For some reason, forum has decided not to show me new topics recently.
