This is a very very basic work in progress.
In this topic I will update once more information becomes available, here you will also post your own histories after they go through my approval in preparation for the next part of this game.
These events were set in motion by both players' actions and the overall social tendencies at the time. Here is what we have so far:
First off, the three factions of the new cold war:
Eurasia Pact:
As the years past, the Cold War evolved, soon enough the four superpowers begun to condense around ideologues and political alliances, the age of the Global Great Game really came to an abrupt end with the E-Democratic reformation in Europe. The Eurocrat Oligarchy, already on shaky footing, lost complete support of the people with their alliance with Russia. Following the disastrously heavy handed policy of the European People's Party in Mars, the idea that the government should abolish parties as a whole and work on a direct democratic principle slowly swept through society.
Not before long, the Eurocrats found themselves pushed to the brink, with protests, disturbances and control slipping, the fearful government lost control over the state, with the increasingly militarized Europol was overstretched on all departments. Following a short and largely bloodless revolution, the reformation of the European Union begun. The institution of unelected bureaucrats was abandoned and a government was set up according to the new principles of e-democracy, a network where laws will be voted on and struck down directly by the people in never-ending referendums was established, patrolled by AIs constantly.
Soon enough it became clear that this major shake up of Europe, meant quite a bit for the diplomatic situation of the world, as the citizens of Europe begun spreading their new ideology with zeal much similar to how Communism was spreading in Europe 100 years prior. And much like communism, this ideology penetrated the exceptionally oppressive society of Triune Russia. It spread like wildfire, as the Russian economy was increasingly struggling in supplying the country's endeavors abroad and in space, with the Martian cold war heating to the point where Russia had little to no control over its ultra-radical penal colony. Eventually, the Kremlin awoke one day to find the people knocking on its doors, asking for their freedom. The protests lasted for months, turning exceptionally bloody and violent on several occasions, but the people remained steadfast despite the heavy-hand used by the military establishment. Eventually, they had their way.
Out of the E-democratic reformation in Europe, the two powers re-approached each-other, signing treaties after treaties, helping each-other and dividing Eastern Europe peacefully. The EU helped Russia modernize and while Russia's global power projection fell, its economy entered the 22nd century, leaving behind the heavy reliance on their natural resources and giving birth to a financial power-house. While the EU is the senior partner in this alliance, Russia is increasingly pulling its own strings and attempting to re-establish its power and global projection, with a reformed economy, military and renewed vigor to spread democracy. This has caused the main internal fiction inside the Eurasia Pact, as Europe and Russia have competing models of e-democracy and increasingly competing interests.
But while Corporatism and Leftism threaten the democracy, both powers will continue to fight together.
The Trans-Pacific Friendship Agreement::
China and the North American Union have always been interconnected, but never realized how close they were in reality. The economy of China was entirely build around production and while it lost its positions as the global production center with the robotization and mechanization of the world economy, its massive size put in a category of a Superpower in on itself. And the North American Union on the other hand lacked much of the production capabilities needed to survive, so following the Chinese Revolution and the establishment of the Federation of China, the buyer-seller interconnected economy only increased.
And while both sides continued posturing against each other in the great games, their interests rarely clashed and cooperation came easy. But the real change came with the decay of the Chinese Military Junta, as the same peasant-entrepreneur and heavenly economic mandate policies they pushed, proved to be their undoing. With the relaxation of restrictions, the huge formerly state consortium that were privatized to various generals of the Junta slowly turned the government into nothing more then a rubber stamp parliament.
The interconnection between the two economies, and the combined threat of exploding e-democracy and leftism quickly brought China and America together. Nicknamed the Dragon and Eagle League, officially the Trans-Atlantic Friendship Agreement, has set out to fight the anti-corporatists and constraining enemies of pure economic freedom. However, just like the Europa Pact, there are frictions inside the organization. While America is completely privatized, with even emergency services being owned by private companies, the Mandate of Heaven still dictates a lot of the policies of the Chinese state. Including a huge bloated bureaucracy and full government ownership of a lot of utilities, mostly out of fear that American companies will be the first to buy these utilities off in case of privatization. The Federation is well aware that it is far from the economic giant it used to be, and is fighting against becoming a playground for American companies, while still keeping the business happy.
The First Interplaneteriál
By the start of the 22nd Century, Leftism was pronounced dead, with Bolivarianism considered on its final stages. But while it found no fertile ground on earth, space was a whole different thing. Mars was where the leftist movement filed its teeth, the red planet lived up to its name by hosting numerous movements of liberation, but two were really extraordinary and important.
The Maroons, much like their heroes of Che and Castro, they arrived on Mars in a single boat, the Granma, and begun a struggle that would forever be remember in the people's hearts. Forming New Cumaná they fought to free the slaves held by the Russians and in time their struggle widened, they fought the corporatists, the fascists and most of all, they fought for the poor. While they lost battles all over mars, they won wars, and they captivated the imagination of people, their message of god, equality and freedom resonated with the masses and people flocked to the mountains, they lost the battles in the cities but in the mountains of Mars they were untouchable. Mastering the stealth technology and the terrain, they spread and stayed high in their strongholds, but when they descended to the ground, it was to free people. Eventually, they merged with the Bolivarians, spreading to the stars and bringing the revolution to far off mining districts and where they were needed. Eventually, even the Bolivarian part of the Interplaneteriál would move to the stars, moving their government on Mars, as earth was proven to be infertile ground for revolution.
But not everyone found the message of god and socialism to their liking, in-fact, their populist policies were found distasteful by the followers of the red queen. The woman who posed the question "Why do you obey?". The Greater Movement succeeded where the Maroons couldn't, the cities were their incubators and their breeding ground was within the hearts unsatisfied laborers. They needed no government, because they governed themselves. Their revolution was that of equals, and while the Interplaneteriál condensed and organized into a straightforward government, the Greater Movement continued being what it always was, the misfits, the vagabonds, the outcasts and pirates, people with no government, who answered to nobody but themselves and posed the question "Why do you obey?".

Non-Aligned Movement:
Another curious creature of the Red Sands of Mars. This organization is born out of the close military and economic relationship that developed between New Glasgow and Israel-Palestine (specifically New Galilee/Al-Jalil). A weird and interesting relationship, as the two countries, strong enough to hold their own on Mars, slowly begun to push their boundaries. With Al-Jalil developing into a strong regional power, exporting food and know-how to other countries, their economic and political system however meant that production and heavy industry was impossible. However, born from the Scottish idea of connecting neutral settlements in a vast air-transited network, the two countries found common cause, surrounded by enemies and with paranoia being elevated to a national sport, their remoteness and mutual assistance meant that the air-trade routes flourished. With the airforce to keep the routes secured, Israel-Palestine kept the network secure and allowed massive amounts of agricultural produce to enter New Glasgow, while in return the heavy industrial park of the Scottish produced the designs that Jalil's engineers came up with. This relationship allowed the two powers to pretty much become one of the biggest regional players on Mars, expanding joint operations into the asteroid belt and space.
However the organization has been hampered by their neighbors and internal situations, the Scottish are squished between the Chinese and former Russian colony, unable to expand despite the population boom, while New Galilee's secure borders are at the cost of its own population developing a proto-stratocratic system where the military dominates everything. Neutrality however, is strictly enforced, thanks to the weird web of interlocking and often conflicting alliances and friendships (e.g. New-Galile intervening in the 30 day campaign against the NAU and Anga, helping the Anarchist free settlements, New Glasgow being Yinghuo's closest trading partner on Mars and a close ally to e-democratic Russia against is runaway colony and so on), the two regional powers exert an important and undeniably important position in Martian politics. It is often said, that if the ESA owns the orbit of Mars, the NAM owns the skies.
The Mountain Republic/Rangers
Following the chaos that the 22nd century Great Game was, it became apparent that however broken, the United Nations was a necessary evil. So a big effort to revitalize the old organization begun, but its foundation could always be found in the birth of the Mountainous Republic. Born out of the valiant actions of the Rangers, the Mountainous Republic was the brainchild of the leaders of the Market and New Bogong, but it really begun after the fall of SpaceX. With fights escalating between New Bogong and SpaceX, the Rangers intervened on the side of the Australian settlers. Orchestrated a complicated attack, the rangers and settlers managed to break through the heavy defenses of the corporation, capturing most of its staff and establishing a permanent foothold. Building up on this, the Market and New Bogong officially anounced their merged under nominal Australian control, with the occupied SpaceX being turned into a heaven for prospectors. The Mountains creating a natural shield and the Rangers provided quick cover and could deploy instantly with their advanced air-corp. This helped propel the Rangers into a large regional force, allowing them to production capability to construct their own ships and deploy where needed. Their peacekeeping operations and impartial neutrality reached earth and inspired millions.
Soon enough, the United Nations were revitalized, restructuring the old peacekeeping operations and bringing in fresh recruits. The rangers, however, lead the way. They are a small organization, but they are veterans and where they deploy, one can easily expect the UN to come knocking soon.
League of Free States/Лига Свободных Государства (The White League)
Mars has not only seen a revival of leftism, but also of right-wing movements. The direct result of the Martian cold war, the League of Free States was created from the now defunct Martian Treaty Organization. Led by the settlement formerly called Gorchakov, the League has evolved to harbor many far-right organizations formerly allied to the Russian Oligarchy, including the former Russian government itself.
The capital of the League, Novarossiya (New Russia) claims to be the only legal and true government of the Triune Nation, ran by the same Oligarchs who ran the earth based government it has extended its hand to diverse groups such as the Military Government of Thailand, the Fascist British, the Greek Neo-Golden Dawn, the former Jobbik government of Hungary, the Sindikat corporation and much more.
In time the warfare with the leftists and different factions from Mars has winded down, but the League remains unrecognized and a blight on the martian political map, a large festering spot where even in the 23rd century, slavery, racial prejudice and torture are the name of the game.
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency)
Officially, JAXA is the representative of the Japanese interests in space. They participate in projects, share colonies on different worlds and hold some of the most important positions in space thanks to their early start in the Solar Colonization.
But behind the scenes, Japan is quite the different place. A massive corporate playground where occasionally American and Chinese interests clash, but more often its Trans-pacific interests clashing with Eurasian such. The occupy a weird and soar position in the new cold war, rich enough to stand on their own, but too dominated by corporations to allow the domestic government much say.
In their stations and colonies however, the Japanese people are restless, as the massive Cannon-Honda Zaibatsu, backed by American and Chinese corporate interests spars with the Siemens owned Mitsubishi Concern, e-democratic and leftists agitators push the people against the corporate status quo.
Nowhere is the struggle more real, then in Mars, where the Bishamonten Group, formed by former Cannon-Honda employees retook the Martian Space Center and executed the leadership of Martian branch of Mitsubishi. Forcing Japan to declare the Group an illegal grouping and JAXA intervening with military force to "pacify" the center, only leading to more strife before the United Nations took over administration of the Mandate of Mars.
The Japanese colonies are a volatile, chaotic and contradictory place, tread lightly here.
Khalistan
Birthed from the "Subcontinental War of Collapse", Khalistan was one of the unexpected success stories form the subcontinent. As the artificial constructs of India and Pakistan collapsed violently, new nations were born along ethnic lines and Khalistan has proven to be one of the most successful of those.
In close cooperation with Russia, the Sikhs have helped Eurasia Pact police their central asian territories for ages, in return for massive economic assistance and basing rights which has kept neighboring china on its toes.
It has in turn benefited greatly from Eurasian assistance in space exploration, being quite unable to fund its own space research, the country has piggy-backed on the European Space Agency's successes and built several colonial ventures, the most successful being its large colony on Venus.
As the wars of collapse ended with a hasty peace treaty drafted by the UN, Khalistan has secured its position as dominating most of the north of the Subcontinent. And being part of the Indian Confederation has given it a level of legitimacy.
However soon afterwords it became clear that the Indian Confederation was nothing but a glorified institution, as the members begun to play games with each other, the chief rival of Khalistan, Balochistan slowly extended its dominion over the Muslim areas of former India and Pakistan, placing Pastunistan in its sphere after many of the Pashtun tribes gave their loyalty to the Baloch Republic.
The struggle between the two would continue in space as well, with Balochistan settling close to the Khalistani colony on Mars early in the colonization period and constant raids on each-other's shipping, pushing the Balochis deep in the American sphere. But to this day, Khalistan is obviously the richest and more powerful of the two, its power on the subcontinent rivaled only by Tamil Nadu in the south.
But besides the frequent border conflicts back home and on Mars, even Khalistan's most succesful colony on Venus is also struggling against frequent border attacks by the militant "Red Flag Movement" which has by now turned into nothing but a conduit for Martian PMCs.
Iran
Iran's story is of a constant cycle of power, collapse and renaissance and the 22nd century saw it enter into another one of these cycles. The hard-line Islamic movement that co-opted the Islamic republic in the 21st century pushed Iran into a slow and steady decline, becoming nothing but a playground for the great powers as the Islamists pulled the Republic back to the middle ages.
But as always, this was not to last and the Republic collapsed following the Martian revolution which inspired millions. And the movement to lead the revolution was the reborn Tudeh Party. Inspired by the teachings of Mossadeq, the thousands of Iranians who have lived in the west and in the Dubai Compact returned home to lead Iran into the new age.
And unlike last time, they found themselves backed by nearly all of the world, with even the Corporatists pushing for an end to the Islamic Republic. Following a brief civil war, the "Persian Renaissance movement" led by the Tudeh part ousted the radicalists and uprooted and destroyed every last remnant of the Mutaween and Republican Guard. This struggle was assisted by a joint deployment of the Interplaniteriál and the TransPacific Association, with the latter protecting oil interests rather then fighting much.
Of course, with the front being made up of a broad coalition, quickly after the defeat it was quickly purged, with the Tudeh party swelling its ranks and instituting more and more leftist measures, culminating in the party officially joining the First Interplaniteriál. This lead to the "Oil Siege" as the Corporatist troops refused to leave their assets.
Eventually, after high-level negotiations they were forced out and the oil industry was nationalized as well as everything.
Nowadays, Iran has several colonies in Europa and Venus and is a strong and important member of the Interplaniteriál.
The Polystate
Starting off as a though experiment of a 21 century author, the Polystate is a social experiment on a grand scale. One of the larger states on Venus, it was born out of several European, Chinese and American settlements declaring a united government after the chaos back on earth.
The Polystate follows the interesting ideology and ideal, that governments should not be tied to the land (geostate, as they call traditional countries), so members of the polystate can change their affiliation to a different governmental system in a whim. Meaning that within the Polystate there are more then 200 different governments all competing for people, and one person can be part of a communist state in one minute, and switch to an E-democracy in the other.
However with the rights of said poly-governments not recognized in the rest of the solar system, the Polystate has transformed into a weird mix of a geostate and a polystate, with actual physical borders, but a constant flux of governments within them. This has made negotiations with the polystate really hard, but also placed the country on a obvious and indistinguishable track of neutrality and individuality.
Several settlements all over Venus have declared their loyalty to the Polystate and have generally been accepted by both their former master and the Polystate as such. In places like the EU and the NAU, some of the Polystate governments are recognized, but not all and not enough for Polystaters to live comfortably there.
Due to its unique nature however, most governments in the Polystate agree to membership in the Non-Aligned Movement and around 67% of the Poly-governments hold close relations with the Anarchists of the Free Territories on Mars.
Ecowas:
Ecowas is one of the success stories of Africa, following the long intervention of the European Legion in the warlord torn West Africa, Ecowas was revived, this time concentrated around Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo and Benin, it benefited from nonvenomous European investment. By the mid 22nd century, Ecowas was a leading African power, standing alongside Red Congo and East African Federation absorbing other West African economies.
The People's Republic of the Congo
While communism fell in China, it rose in Congo. Following the great support provided by China to build up the economy of the Congo, its enormous resources and finally under a stable leadership, the country roared into the 22nd century. Joining the Interplaneterial after its formation, Congo is still an enthusiastic member, providing weapons and men to support the organization in its international endeavors. Locked in a bitter cold war with the EAF and ECOWAS over Africa, the Congo is slowly absorbing the economies of the countries surrounding it.
East African Federation
The grandparent of all African unification projects, the EAF has evolved greatly, from a European pet project, after the fall of the Eurocrats if found that relations with the NAU were far more beneficial for the development of the East Africans. It is one of the three states competing for control over Africa, on behalf of the Corporatists. After the fall of Anga it has doubled its efforts in colonizing space, creating colonies on the asteroid belt and redoubled its efforts on Mars and Luna.

The Fall of SpaceX: Rangers strike against SpaceX, destroying the company HQ and from their ashes the Mountain Republic is born.
Eurasian Reformation: Change of government on a massive scale in Russia and Europe, division of Eastern Europe for good.
The 30 Days Campaign: NAU intervention against the Free Territories, initially ground down to a Pyrrhic victory at great costs by the defenders, condemned by the UN, a counter-intervention from an Israel-Palestine led coalition ended it with a victory for the Free Territories, forcing a signing of a treaty dividing Anga between the Free Territories and New Galilee.
The Last Stand: The Duster Migrations continued for a while, but with the construction of the Minerva Line, they have largely kept to the southern desert, but not before assaulting the line with all they have, causing terrible losses to the defenders and ultimately being pushed back.
Martian Border Conflict: The White Pact is a constant neucanse to all of Mars' settlements, to the point where the borders around the pact are heavily armed and armored.

The Moon is a harsh mistress, this phrase still rings true even today. The first to be terraformed and the closest to Earth of the habitable worlds, the Moon has become nothing but a watered down version of earth. Corporatism, capitalism and e-democracy mingle on this planet where in relative stability compared to the rest of the solar system many nations evolve. Unlike Mars and Venus, the revolutionary ideas of new are less of a social earthquake and more of a class vibration. This is where Corporatism reigns supreme.
Europa Pact:
Göksel Republic:
One of the stronger outposts of E-democracy, the Republic is the living legacy of the Russian Interkosmos program. It was initially formed by Turkic allies of Russia helped by the old Oligarchy in colonizing the Moon back in the initial period of colonization. Uzbek, Kazakh, Turkmen, Turk, Azeri and Tatar colonists were sent there with Russian officers overseeing them initially. But as time wore on, the title of "officer" grew wider in meaning, as the Russians were mixed into the melting-pot of Turkic cultures.
In time, the unique Turan identity developed, with its own language, and its own secular institutions, they did bring Islam with themselves, but following cultural mixtures and changes, only about 10% identify as Muslims nowadays.
As Russia's Oligarchy collapsed at home, so did the Gökseli Oligarchy on Luna. Considering that their authority was up kept only by the Russian administration itself, the collapse was inevitable. Forced to give power, the change was swift and bloodless. Courts were set up and the former oligarchs were sentenced.
With the help of European and Russian AIs the Turan people quickly established an E-democracy and found itself allied to Europe. Recently Göksel has seen emigration from Turkish and Kurdish regions of earth, which has caused some tensions with the locals. On the other hand, the continuous raids by the environmentalists in the Oceanic Council on Turani drilling-rigs and mining operations in the "Beybitsilik Sea" (called the Crater Sea by everyone else) and the corporatist attempts to encroach on the economic wealth of the country, especially the rich deposits.
With the civil war in the Arab colonies however, Göksel has been thrust back into the spotlight, as military equipment transported by Turani ships was recently captured by Blue-helmets entering Arab territory, apparently earmarked for usage by the #ArabSpring.
External Conflicts: The Crater Sea Conflict, The Arab Civil War, Tensions with Lincoln.
Internal Conflicts: Corporatist attempts to encroach on companies within the country, environmental issues due to drilling, general xenophobia.
Economic Level: One of the highest on Luna
Democratic Union of Zvezda:
The Star of the Russian Colonial Empire, Zvezda has entered the history books as the first base to be built on the Lunar service. But it has evolved into so much more. Hundreds of years of non-stop colonial presence has condensed the Zvezdan culture, once a colony of hardy scientists and survivors, it has grown within that image, seeing itself as Luna's survivalists and the mountaineers, even though the country is now covered in massive cities.
The Zvezdan language has developed on its own as well, even though it is based on Russian and it is still mutually-understandable with it, the Zvezdans pride themselves on their independence.
As Independent as they are, they still follow the curve of development of Russia itself, tip-toeing with the dance of the bear on their political scene. It has gone from a communist colony, through a oligarchy and now it entered the 23rd century as a free e-democracy. Closely tied to the motherland, they have faced problems on all fronts, squished between the corporatists in New Lincoln, the radical Horizon and the Cities of Tranquility, it has formed a close relation with the European colony in Athena and a complex, frienemy relationship with Tranquility.
It has suffered terrorists attacks from the pariah state of Horizon and on several occasion it has clashed, even in armed conflicts with Tranquility. Nowadays it is deeply embroiled in the economic and political struggle inside New Lincoln, while border conflicts with Horizon are intensifying. It is not happy with its membership of the Europa pact, but Zvezda sees it as a preferable alternative to what might be in store if a close relationship with anyone else was formed.

Internal Conflicts: Corporatist attempts to encroach on companies within the country, destabilization due to the married of conflicts. America First terrorism.
Economic Level: Low end of the high spectrum
Federal Athenian Republic:
Another European Member state, the Athenian Republic has for most of its existence been managed by the ESA, as such, it has served as one of the largest fleet-bases of the European Union, having built a space elevator shortly after those on Earth and the Tranquility one.
For a while it was an entirely military-led republic, where the Legion, Eurofor and ESA found themselves in domination of most. This was evident the most durring the worst day of the Eurocrat tyranny, as Europol was known to operate with impunity on Luna.
That of course all changed with e-democracy, as Europe changed back home, so did it change on Luna. The most radical elements of the military were arrested, Europol disbanded and trials held for Eurocrats.
Nowadays the Federation finds itself on a very good location, in between neutral nations it serves as a trading hub between Tranquility, the Lunarians, Amazônians and Bosans. It is still a port to call for the Eurofor and the ESA and it has suffered some unrest and terrorist actions.

Economic Level: Low end of the high spectrum
Japanese Development Region of Luna (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd):
Another one of the older colonies on Luna, this one however has not seen nearly the same level of stability that Athena has. Just like in most colonies, the JAXA administered colony quickly gave way to corporations taking control of large sectors of the economy.
This led to one of the biggest corporate clashes in Japanese history, as Mitsubishi and Cannon-Honda clashed over total ownership of the colony. Initially, using underhanded tactics and loads of money the Cannon-Honda Zaibatsu managed to push its agenda on the table, replacing a group of the higher management of the JAXA expedition in Luna.
But soon after they found those same members were disappearing, several even wound up dead in alleyways and the police was clueless. After some hefty bribes, the Zaibatsu used the police to apprehend several local and known Mitsubishi coordinators and managers.
The situation continued to escalate, with attacks on the two companies and their subsidies (Toyota Motor Co's CEO would up with a huge bribe in his pocket, as he sold the company over to Mitsubishi, the Sunroute Hotel Chain discovered that some of its workers were used to smuggle huge loads of cocaine when the Police was "sponsored" by Cannon-Honda to bust said Chain. The fines put them out of business and so on). And as the rivalry increased on Luna, public order begun to slip.
But it became more and more obvious that the Mitsubishi was winning the battle, if not the war. The tipping point came when the hostile takeover of the Martian Space Center blasted into the news. In response a massive bomb exploded outside the Mitsubishi HQ on Luna, in a matter of hours the local services had started the tracking of the perpetrator, with the EU declaring that it would not stand by as the Moon is destabilized by "terrorist forces", a blockade was established by the ESA over the skies of the colony and under the pressure of the Mitsubishi concern the local police arrested a huge number of high-ranking JAXA administrators closely related to the Cannon-Honda Zaibatsu.
From that point forward, Mitsubishi has established its reign all over the Japanese territories on Luna with companies related to the concern slowly enveloping all aspects of society. Still, the corporate warfare continues even today, as the infamous Bishamonten Group, known as the "Solar Cannon-Honda death squad" has been making headlines for attacks and planned attacks on the Lunar holds of the company.

The choking giant of Luna, from the ice capped northern regions, to the tundra broken up by crater-lakes all the way to the shores in the south. The State of New Lincoln is enormous. It is officially the biggest state of the North American Union and one of the most populous. But also the most unstable out of all the North American states.
New Lincoln started from Crashland City, the project for the colony begun way after the failure of Horizon and its devolution into a pariah state, as several smaller corporate colonies on the moon were bought off by the NAU. The initial operation was mainly aimed at survival, as the colonies purchested were really badly industrialized (Crashland City was named after the original mission there smashed into the surface, killing the crew).
With heavy industrialization and investment and careful selection of candidates to the colony though, it soon grew quickly. But as it developed, it was slowly surrounded by other colonial efforts far more advanced then the colony itself. Projects like Metropolia, the infamous British colony, the Egyptian Nasser and Iranian Xerses colonies.
So, New Lincoln set off to fight these threats by the only way it knew how, by slowly encroaching on their economies. Thanks to a combination of money, investment and a unsavory business practices, the colony came to dominate the region around it and as Mars exploded, it acquired several colonies, either as a buy off or through military interventions.
This was severally protested on earth, as it became obvious that the NAU had pressured many of the countries involved in this to sell off their colonies, including concluding a deal with the Socialist government of Iran, lobbying for corporatism forces to leave the country in return for the aquisition of its Lunar colony. Not to mention the British acquisition, which is still considered to this day an outright invasion.
Little was the world aware, that this was just the start, the giant Lincolian economy continue to grow and grow, aquiaring a South African, a Japanese and an Algerian colonies. Purchasing land and pushing for more, it came in a direct conflict with Zvezda.
And not only that, as Lincoln continued to grow, its foundations, already shaky, were seriously undermined. Including a bizarre variate of often conflicting nationalities and withholding a strict corporatist authority and hierarchy, the Colony is a mess. On one side it is a massive and unstoppable economic juggernaut, but the frequent protests and violence of the varied communities stuck inside the state are leading to a greater destabilization within the colony that has not been seen since Mars.

Special Administrative Region of of Yuèliàng:
Yuèliàng is the oldest uninterrupted colony on Luna, born out of the PRC's space project, it has evolved and grown in a very Chinese manner, slowly, deliberately, and by absorbing its neighbors.
The steady growth of China however has done little to mask the underlying troubles. Tranquility and Yuèliàng were among the first conflicts to start on Luna, as both the newborn power and China struggled to gain as much territory as possible.
Yuèliàng has changed little as it expanded, an extension of the Chinese model on the moon, it remains the same to this day.

Phteah DeiTuk:
One of the few unique cultures that formed on the moon, the DeiTuk people are exceptional as they are formed from a wide variety of east Asian cultures who have gathered in this melting pot. The colony that became DeiTuk initially started as a refugee plan of the United Nations, where displaced people from east-asia were settled. Diverse groups such as Koreans, Khmer, Vietnamese, Karen, Shan even some Malay and Indonesian groups.
As time wore on, those groups, under the UN, grew close together and their cultures merged and reformed into a whole new culture. In the meanwhile, politically the colony also changed, while a large "red" undercurrent existed in society, the local corporations came to increasingly dominate society.
However it is still the odd-man out in the Corporatist system in space, as the country is still dominated not by a corporate elite, but rather by a multi-party systems that frowns on the corporate "sponsoring" of politics.
As all peace collapsed in Serenity, the Phteah has faced some heavy fighting on its border. Relations with Bardragen have increased steadily as, but the conflicts for the drilling rights in the sea of comets continues to be a sore topic between DeiTuk and the Goksel Republic.

La Liga Republicana:
A sparsely populated country. la liga was born out of a European colony, it was initially conceived as a place to settle European mining operations on the moon. It was primarily settled by Southern Europeans, specifically Italians and Spanish. With Greeks and French being introduced later and to a lesser extent, North African Francophones and Hispanophones.
La Liga however developed far above that, while it remains a major resource extractor, it has moved into the heavy industrial sector. With the European Union growing more and more autocratic in the late 22nd century, the colony became a major center of Euroscepticism and protests erupted all over the nation.
As revolution engulfed the EU, the colony declared independence, thanks to close ties built up with China by the administrators. With little conflicts around it, the colony developed soon afterwords, pulled into the Transpacific Treaty by China it has remained a steadfast ally of the Federation.

Federal Subject of Bwana Wa Mwezi:
The East African Federation's colony on the Moon, it was one of the initial colonies to survive the turmoil of the 22nd century. As the East African Federation joined the Corporatist movement, the colony became a major staging-point of the movement, bordering the neutral Amazonia, and the pro-European JAXA administration, it played an important role in the vicious conflict in the Japanese region. Nowadays it plays a similar role in fighting European influence in Bose.

Province of New Fimi:
New Fimi used to be bigger, the Congolese colony on the Moon is the main carrier of the revolution on the Lunar surface. However as such, it has faced a lot of hostile actions, as it threatens the very existence of many states. It has funded rebels all over the moon and in return, the established nations of the Lunar surface have turned a blind eye as the pariah state of Horizon invaded Fimi.
After 20 years of brutal fighting a peace treaty was signed, but it left large swathes of Fimi territories under Horizon's dominion. Stories of murder, rape and segregationist policies emerge from these territories as Horizon lashes out onto the Congolese stranded in its borders.
This has lead to an increased investment by the Interplaneteriál in supporting Congo on Luna. Even pulling Ujungpandang close to the red sphere. One can see clearly that the Congo is preparing for round two, and in the meanwhile its industrial capacity is invested in spreading the revolution around Luna.

The Oceanic Council:
An interesting member of the Interplaneteriál, this independent state is yet another synthetic creation. Colonized by people from all around the world, it was conceived as a world where liberal green leftists would gather. Organizations like Greenpeace and other environmental movements invested heavily in the colony and for a while it seemed like a success. But very quickly it became obvious that it was sitting on unexploited resources and that quickly made it a target for places such as New Lincoln and Goksel.
Feeding into that was the fact that colonial borders were badly defined, so a conflict has emerged over the islands in the crater see. With the Oceanic Council also pushing large states to stop their aggressive drilling and polluting not only on Luna but in space.
It joined the Interplaneteriál exactly for this purpose.

Australia has had an interesting journey, at the start of the 22nd century the effects of global warming hit Australia hard, pulling back its development. But it was the same time period as the Country's first ventures into space.
After the foundation of the British Fascist regime, Australia was the country where the Prince of Wales of the British Monarchy escaped and denounced the regime in London. Eventually, Australia held a referendum which reached the decision that the Prince should be crowned King of Australia, finally breaking the last strings of the Commonwealth.
With King Arthur I of Australia on the throne, the country pushed into the new era. Thanks to the wide success of its colonial venture on Mars, the country increased its investments in space. One of which was the already existing colony of New Parramatta. Settled before the venture in New Bagong, the colony was lacking in developmental aid, but even with that it managed to build a stable economy which all flowed back home, helping regain Australia's status as a south pacific power.
Strictly neutral, Australia has fought to keep itself out of conflicts and while it is sympathetic to the Europeans, it remains neutralist, signing the Non-Aligned Movement charter along with the Scottish and Israeli-Palestinians delegates.

If Luna has ever had a master, that would be Tranquility, the first base on the planet, it kick-started the colonization and transformation of the moon. Tranquility has lived through many transformations, drawing form the nations and people of all colors, nations or races.
It is one of the most advice post-colonial states in space and its human development easily goes toe to toe with most of the richest earthen nations. However it has had its fair share of problems, keeping neutral has been hard, the terrorist attacks by the America First movement have led it to leading numerous wars with Horizon. Its rivalry with Zvezda has pushed it to ever expand and its virulent anti-colonialism has kept it nearly ally-less.

The Independent State of Ujungpandang:
Indonesia came early in the colonial game, so when it collapsed, its daughter on the moon was left alone. The military administration quickly established command of the colony and kept it peaceful while the civil war raged on earth. Unable to establish contact for long periods of time, the Ujungpandangian administration declared independence.
While it has always been close to Tranquility, the military administration of the state has recently been turning towards the Interplaneteriál and is becoming interested in the teachings of the Islamic Socialists in the movement.

Estado Amazônia:
Brasil was a state with a long lasting colonial legacy, it created colonies on the moon and mars and those colonies' stability was directly tied to it. However while Brasil sought its destiny in space, back on earthy it was deteriorating.
Eventually, it imploded, like many other nations on the south american continent, it fell to the struggle between Bolivarianism and everyone else. Many of the oligarchs escaped though, managing to salvage their fortune and run to the Moon and Mars, joining the ranks of the White League and the newly-born Amazonian State.
Constant wars with the Lunar republic and the East African federation have pulled the Amazonian state back in development.

The Republic of Bose:
The Republic of Bose is the last remnant of an India that used to exist on earth. It is a republic made up of the many nationalities that made India before its collapse and the Subcontinental wars.
It has now found itself in the situation where the leading nations of the Indian Confederation, a largely powerless organization dominates the Republic. Currently Khalistan and the Tamils are sharing governance over the country, making it slightly pro-European.
But underneath the surface, discontent is bubbling and about to burst.

The Lunar Republic
The Lunar Republic is the product of intense dislike towards any earth-born authority. Created by groups discontent with Tranquility and its perceived betrayal to the idea of Lunar independence it is a radical nationalist movement seeking to liberate the entire moon.
But in practice it is an oligarchy ran by the military, constantly fighting with the Amazonians, Athenians, Lincolians and whoever else stands in its path.

Serenity:
A failed state in all but name, Serenity started off as a joint venture of several smaller companies and groups of men. But after expanding and introducing big companies into the mix and migrants, it begun to decay.
The corruption and general lawlessness gave way to a slow decay in authority with the country findings itself with limited to no authority and gangs and criminal organizations running wild. Communities inside the organization have started to form internal defense forces with each city having its own authority.

Federatzione Bardragen:
Often called the continuation of the earthly Germany. Bardragen is another former European colony. It was colonies predominantly by Europeans of Germanic and Scandinavian descent, including Dutch, Germans, Austrians, Swiss and Danes.
As Europe descended deeper into the Eurocrat autocracy, the Bardragen's people (Called Germanics) grew closer and closer, slowly forming a new culture, which was a unique mixture of all the Germanic and Scandinavian cultures from earth.
Following the revolution in Europe it declared independence with some urging by various powers, but following heavy investment by Tranquility it has landed solidly in the sphere of the "Protector of Luna".

United States of Free Horizon:
Welcome to the new hermit kingdom, the most isolated state in the Solar System. Horizon is a beast beyond the control of both corporations, people and any earthen governments. It's history begun with the restart of the Horizon program when the United States threatened to withdraw from the Tranquility program.
The Horizon station has remained dormant through the years, but it has always been staffed with the most nationalist American scientists out there. Under the Jericho administration, Horizon expanded massively in the 23 century, but Jericho had continued the old system of appointing white American nationalists. Soon after his departure for Mars, the Lunar colony declared its independence from the North American Union, which it saw as too "controlled by the Mexicans and Canadians" and the corporations not giving enough expression of "American Exceptionalism". This ideology was formed way back in Tranquility base, by the America First movement.
However soon after its declaration , the series of wars with both Zvezda and Tranquility begun. Driving Horizon deeply and deeply into its isolationism.

If Mars is the birthplace of revolutions and Luna is the sea of stability on the interstellar stage, Venus sits in a precarious middle in between those two. It is both stable in some areas, and a hotbed for revolutionary activity in others.
Eurasia Pact:
Kolonia Navalni: One of the most advanced colonies on Venus, it was set up following the official end of terraformation by the new Russian government, as the first interstellar colony of the reborn Russia. All of this happened with the heavy assistance with the European owned Union Islands, a fact that is in no way forgotten by both sides, for better or worse. As the colony developed and expanded however, it encountered problems of its own. Following the economic crisis of 2190s, several major regions inside the colony voted to become part of the Polystate, leaving a large gap in the border infrastructure of the colony. A fact ruthlessly exploited by Prosperia, the North American colony, even though it lost several cities itself to the Polystate.
With the civil war in Arabia, the Russians have taken a containment role, attempting to curb influence of the growing Polystate, the border tensions with Prosperia are escalating once again with scirmishes between the PMCs employed by the American Colony and the Russian Colonial Guard. In the meanwhile however, Navalni is increasingly serving as a base for further Russian advances into Venus, with the newlyborn Republic looking to expand its reach over the planet.
From the gleaming golden covered tops of the modern churches in the center of Tsoicity in the capital, through the high-density high-rises that litter the colony, to the wild forests guarded by hardy guardsmen. Navalni is a true Russian outpost, a symbol of Moscow's new-found purpose.

Internal Conflicts: An increasing number of people refusing to be called Russian, Emigration from poorer countries and refusal of the majority to allow the minorities to internet-vote without citizenship. Corporatst attempts at acquiring shares and assets in large government held firms continue.
Economic Level: One of the highest on Venus
The Union Islands: "Europe doesn't create colonies, it makes members", these words were uttered by the first colonizers of the Union Islands, one of the first colonies on Venus. Built up on the Austraelis islands, the colony is interconnected with complex underwater tunnels, advanced air-network and bridges between some of the closer island chains. Each of the islands is build in the standard pre-planned European matrix.
All is not well in paradise it would seem, however, as the islands and coastal regions grow and advance, the mainland, sparsely populated as it is is in a very slow decline. This became evident following the revolution of the Venetian republic, which engulfed parts of the Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and even European colonies on Aphrodite, cutting a swath of blood and revolution through the poor regions of the Aphrodite colonies.
Even after the intervention of the Tripowers and the following peace treaty, the border is volatile at the best of times, with revolutionaries being increasingly smuggled inside Europe. And now, with the explosion of the Arab civil war all over the solar system, the Union Islands find themselves on the forefront of European efforts to bring e-democracy to the world, owning treaty ports in what is now increasingly known as the Venusian Jahannam, funding the #ArabSpring movement, a loose collection of e-democratic parties fighting the civil war.
In the meanwhile, the dispute over the ownership of the Geisha Sea islands intensifies, as both United Venus, The Refuge and Fumnanya are increasingly bold in striking their claims in the area. Not to mention the Red Flag movements' raids and refugees streaming into the Southern Isle situated off its coast. And of course the constant threat of the ever present Prosperia, and its corporatist interests in and out of the colony, not to mention the PMCs that clash with Eurfor operatives protecting the Islands.
While the high technology of the Union Islands gives the Member State a sense of security, behind the panels of nanofiber the citizens of the Islands are sensing a storm coming, and they are not sure if their machines will be enough to protect them from all of the enemies that surround them.

Ecowas is one of the success stories of Africa, following the long intervention of the European Legion in the warlord torn West Africa, Ecowas was revived, this time concentrated around Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo and Benin, it benefited from nonvenomous European investment.
By the mid 22nd century, Ecowas was a leading African power, absorbing other West African economies. Fumnanya was in turn the first African project to take off, as Europe borough laborers from Ecowas to break up carbon formations during the terraforming project, it re-payed the West African power by helping it establish a safe and advanced home for its people. The colony proved to be really popular with the Igbo minority, who moved to Venus in large numbers.
Today Fumnanya is an advanced industrial economy, while some regions still suffer from poor conditions it is improving at a great speed. Being one of the most populous colonies on Venus, the Fumnanya colony has been looking into taking the Geisha Sea islands, in direct conflict with the Union Islands, United Venus and The Refuge. Fumnanya's relationship with its neighbors is made even more complex when the colony lost several of its population centers to the Polystate and is continuously fending off encroachment by corporate interests of the Sony Corporation run JAXA colony and Prosperia.

The Nordic League::
Integration into the European Union has always been a soar topic in the Nordic countries. Refusing to participate in the Federalist project initially, they took off on their own path of development back in the late 21st century. However, its paths were set to cross with Europe once again, as more and more business interests were tied into the mainland.
The previous attempt at a Nordic Union back in the late 21st century failed, after both Finland and Norway left following arguments over environmental and social policy with Sweden, which, having the largest economy in the region was slowly coming to dominate the initial union.
But while on earth, Nordic unity was hard to achieve, in space, similar groups quickly find a close relationship with each other. AS the earthly Nordic countries were slowly re-absorbed into the EU, the League was created on Venus. Initially a project led by Nordic investors and billionaire, it developed as more and more Scandinavians migrated from earth.
While still the least populated state on Venus, its resource wealth puts it far in the development index. A shared vision of the future has pulled the league to establishing friendly relations with the Russians and eventually joining the Europa Pact as an equal member.
However, while internally it is developing well, it is in a constant combat with American and Chinese corporations attempting to exploit its resource wealthy for themselves and its external borders are tense as it boarders the militant New Afrika. Being mainly populated by white Scandinavians, it is the exact antithesis of what New Afrika fights for and as such it faces severe threats from the state. In the meanwhile the Afrodite Aquisitions Charter Company, a member of the Sol Corp family, continues to attempt to muscle in on economic interests inside the league.
External Conflicts: Occasional skirmish along the Afrikan border, Afrodite PMCs threatening the country, Increasing militarization of Venus.
Internal Conflicts: Low population levels and surrounded by enemies creates a siege mentality in the locals. Discrimination towards the non-white population. Policing the frontiers is becoming increasingly hard.

The Free Colony of Prosperia: Sandwitched between three Eurasia Pact members, Prosperia is both a gleaming gem in the American colonial Empire and a liability. Ran by CEO Andrew Johnson, a distant relative to the infamous Jordan Jericho III, the colony is a great example of corporatist policies at play.
With all sectors of society completely privatized, the act of controlling the colony involves jostling contracts and orders, something Mr Johnson is and expert in. Known as the puppeteer of the east, he has been able to turn a hefty profit for the colony by pushing American companies and interests in both the European, Russian and Ecowas colonies, while also expanding his hold on economic players inside the United Venus, the Refuge and even Azawad.
The colony has been suspected of smuggling illegal goods inside EU held territories, of instigating attacks by PMCs upon the Russians and Ecowas and even meddling in affairs of the illegal corporations deep in in the Red Flag Movement. As one European politician described it, "it is the place d'armes of the Corporatists in Eastern Venus" and the only thing keeping the region from falling into the grasp of the Europa pact.
But behind the facade of vicious corporate competition and combat lays a problem, surrounded by enemies, this colony is in danger of falling every day and will fight tooth and nail to protect its acquisitions.
External Conflicts: Surrounded by hostile states, economic interests in Europe and Russia are threatened by local authorities, border tensions all around.
Internal Conflicts: Social tension and unease over the escalating border conflicts. Privatized police force sometimes ignores events for the highest bidder. PMCs are tasked with guarding the borders, often with mixed results.
Economic Level: On the median of the high spectrum
Jīnxīnguo District of Venus
The little slice of Chinese heaven on Venus is anything but little or a heaven. Under the choking black skies lies the physical representation of the industrialist Mandate of Heaven. Meticulous planning, long investment and a little bit of luck have made the Federation of China the undisputed master of a large chunk of the Aphrodite Continent.
Inside, to the unstoppable beat of mechanization of industrialization corporatism marches on, with thousands of huge Chinese companies, ran by the old Military elite clashing in a constant race against each other and their enemies to expand their base, their profit and their mastery over the region.
Thanks to the semi-stable borders provided by the Sol-Corp subsidies in the North and the largely neutral Loytatud Federation west, as well as the United Nation administration, the Chinese have concentrated all of their efforts on expanding planet-wide from their huge hold. Pushing back against leftists in New Afrika, attempting to buy off assets in the Nordic League and the Union Islands, propping up the SolCorp ownership of Aphrodite and of course, assisting the Compact, or what is left of it, in Jahannam, in hopes to maintain the Sheikhs' Corporate power over the region.
Japanese Development Region of Venus (Sony Corp.)
The zaibatsu order in Japan always finds a way. The Sony Corporation is no different, closely related to the Cannon-Honda Concern, as any other company it required a slot in the planned colonization of Venus via links through Cannon-Honda and pushed its agenda quickly. While others built the colony, the CEOs of the company plotted, with a little help from their Chinese allies, Sony soon found itself powerful enough to buy-off all other investors in the Venusian colony.
Nowadays, while the colony is still officially known as the Japanese Development Region of Venus, it is nothing more then a completely Sony-ran endeavor. As such, it is obviously a tool for the corporatists in their constant attempts to expand the reach of their corporations and their profits. Pushing it into a conflict with both Ecowas and the Polystate.
But internally the struggle is also strong, as pro-American managers are being promoted with the backing of Prosperia, the Chinese directors are gritting their teeth and attempting to undercut this. Sony has always been a strongly pro-chines element in the Cannon-Honda Concern and the Federation would like to keep it that way.
Afrodite Aquisitions Charter Company
One of SolCorp's most daring ventures, the AACC was acquired by the company after it had already colonized a major part of the Aphrodite continent. Starting of as an investment of a group of billionaires from earth, the Charter Company purchased a large chunk of land in the initial colonization process.
Growing in a reletevely stable part of Venus the company has benefited from Corporate investments from all over the spectrum, with Linpac and SolCorp being one of the largest players in the internal market. It was later purchased by Sol Corp and it now stands as the only physical territory actually owned by the company, quite the divination from their standard modus operanti.
But internally, it suffers unrest and its attempts to muscle in the Nordic market have proven hard at best.

The Venusian Republic:
The flames of revolution arrived late on Venus, besides the New Afrikans, who proved to be a magnet for revolutionary activity, but remained contained on their island, there was no other leftist movement on Venus, no true fighters for freedom.
One beacon of hope was the United Venus Movement, but it quickly found itself co-opted by both e-democrats and corporatists, rendering it unreliable after its own revolution.
But while Venus was concentrated elsewhere, discontent simmered in the Corporatist territories owned by Japanese, Chinese, Arabs and Europeans. The workers were fed up all over Venus but in Aphrodite did their anger truly come to be felt. Soon after the crushing of yet another protest with violent force by Chinese soldiers, the powederkeg finally exploded.
Under a revolutionary carrying the pseudonym Sun Yat-Sen, the New Movement for the freedom of Venus rose in revolution. Funded and helped heavily by Interplaneteriál forces, the Venusian Republic swiped away the old order, aspired by the revolutionary wars on Mars and Earth.
After the European Union and China were forced to intervene en-force, the Revolutionary war simmered down, and the Venusian republic was introduced into the Interplaneteriál soon after, becoming an established state even though China would refuse to accept it as such for quite a while.
Nowadays, besides funding and helping spread the revolution, the Republic is also an economic force to be reckoned with, possessing massive infrastructure and heavy industry. It has put its resources and power into a concentrated effort to spread the leftist ideology all over Venus, so far with limited success.
Its real time to shine has arrived however, with the Compact collapsing in the south, the Republic is pushing to assist a broad coalition of leftist groups fighting the three-way cold war.

Peoples Republic of New Afrika:
A longtime member of the Interplaneteriál, New Afrika has its roots in the communist movements in America during the cold war. While nowadays, following the creation of the NAU, race as a concept has less and less meaning in the American conscious, the economy is still very much dominated by either white or latino people in the North American Union. With segregation while smaller compared to the 21st century America, it is still noticeably as the massive slums in some of the central cities of the Union are still pretty much filled with poor black people.
This led to the strengthening of organizations like the Black Panthers, the Black Guerrilla Family and so on, until they eventually merged under the mantle of the Black Socialist party. This organization has enjoyed much prominence in black communities, and as the transformation of Venus begun, they begun a crowd-funding project, gathering billions to buy land and start a colony there.
Initially pretty much concentrated around the Eistia island, the massive amount of interest and people settling meant that the colony required more land. So blacks would start settling on the Aphrodite mainland and across other islands. Much to the chagrin of the local GM funded colony.
As tensions tessellated, a war erupted and posturing continued, a war erupted, with the Afrikans. Eventually, the weight of the Afrikan industry and men meant that it eventually won the war but not before GM-funded colony collapsed into an internal conflict.
Following these events it was all up and up for the New Afrikans, they expanded to occupy several islands and assimilated the territory acquired on the mainland. However nowadays they seem to be running out of steam, their revolution dying, their economy struggling. The existence of the exact antithesis of the state on its borders, the Scandinavian Nordic League is also not helping.
And now, with the new wave of revolutionary enthusiasm on Venus, the Afrikans are looking towards the future with mixed enthusiasm.

Independent State of Azawad:
The Story of Azawad almost ended in the 21st century as the Tuareg were pushed forcibly back into Mali, which at this point had devolved into a loose confederation of tribes. This trend continued, as the military ruled the south, the Tuareg in the north maintained their independent sentiment in the light of all competing factors.
After the European Legion's deployment in West Africa however, Mali was stabilized and the military put in supreme power. So while Ecowas was rising, the Malian military was attempting more and more to destroy the independent Tuareg.
The fierce nomads resisted for quite a while, but as their struggle continued they missed the chance to move away from the chaos and into the new lands in space. They didn't have the ability as well, forced deeper into poverty in their own homeland.
Eventually, the Interplaneteriál formed, and among its many groups, the operatives of the Azawad Liberation Front were found. This was the ticket to salvation of the Tuareg people, as part of the space program (Interespacio) of the Bolivarians included aiding in the founding of a national homeland for liberation movements. The Azawadi front got the right to create its own colony on Venus as a solution to what was described as a process of genocide against the Tuareg people by the UN, who assisted in the moving of a massive amount of people.
While Azawad is not exactly revolutionary, and is socialist only in name, it proved to be a good ally to the Interplaneteriál, especially the Iranians who have invested heavily in the colony and have settled a large amount of numbers there. Azawadi politics have been inspired by Iranian Islamic Socialism.

The Gracious and Serine Refuge:
Strictly Neutral and multicultural, the Refuge is a long running project of the Red Cross and Crescent, it was initially set up as a refugee camp for internally displaced people from the wars on Mars and Earth, but it grew to a lot more.
As the motto of the state would insist, "Everyone and everything" is free to come and live in the refuge and become a citizen after only a few months of residency.
As such, the refuge however is not without issues, the same problems that plague the United Nations plague the refuge, as it is ran as a subsidiary of the Red Cross and Crescent the entire government organization is built around the structure of the Red Cross and Crescent. The administrative body is made up of different members from different states and as chairs a commission is elected from the United Nations and it perfectly shows the divisive nature of the organization, as the Great Five of the UNSC push their own policies down, they are opposed by the UNGA unhappy with the changing political landscape being dictated by the big five.
On the ground, the Refuge is also fighting for more space, attempting to push resolutions through that will give it access to the contested islands. But both the EU and the United Venus Movement are blocking any such attempts out of fear of loosing their territories and in turn increasing pressure on the refuge.

United Venus Movement:
The first real attempt at a single Venusian government, the Movement was created as a political party in the fledgling initial colonies. However, as oppression and civil discontent mounted in those colonies, the idea that the planet will be better off independent from earth slowly crept and spread through the movement.
Eventually the civil administration running the nascent colonies collapsed on several places giving way to the expansionist Untied Venus. With power concentrated in the broad coalition of parties United Venus declared war on its neighbors on the islands bordering the new country. The short war saw the capture of many islands but the complete exhaustion of Venusian forces in the grueling island hopping campaign and a concentrated international coalition that put an end to the expansionism of the Movement. Forcing it to separate with some of the hard-won islands in a peace treaty that ended the war it has been fighting to reclaim this land for a while.
Initially it seemed like the Movement would fall in the red sphere, it however faced an internal struggle as Corporatist and E-Democratic interests took hold in both the economic and political sectors, resulting in the splintered political scene that the Movement is seeing now, with lobbyists, AIs and all sorts of politicians vying for influence.

People's Republic of China (The Red Flag Movement)
Mao was not forgotten, nor was the People's Republic. On earth, the Red Flag movement was a radical political group inside the banned CCP which blew the occasional bomb and gathered for meetings. But while in China itself they found little support, when the colonial game begun, they managed to piggy-back the Chinese Colonial efforts in Mars, where they fought as a PMC for many different organizations, amassing wealth and preparing for their ultimate endeavor, Venus.
On Venus they carved a name for themselves, settling on the islands, fighting Khalistan and displacing a large amount of people, forcing the Refuge to create a center for displaced people in the south of the islands to help said people survive.
Since then, the Red Flag had evolved into something even more radical, funding and helping PMCs from around Venus set up shop in its territories. Funded by an expanding drug trade and a massive black market due to the fact that limited to no government existing in the region.

State of the Loytatud (also known as the Loytatud Federation)
While it is the moon that is know for the merger of cultures that emerged from the post-colonial period, there are a few cases of this happening outside of the moon. Lytatud is an example of that merger of cultures.
Begging as a colony of General Motors and several European contractors, it made heavy usage of Hungarian, Finnish, German and Dutch laborers. These nations created a shared relation that led to the formation of the new nationality, especially when the war with Afrika came about, which pushed the people closer then ever.
Nowadays the State is fierce independent and maintains only trading relations with the great powers. It has however adopted the E-democratic model of governance, but the left-wing policies continue to dominate internet-voting.
External Conflicts: Some tensions here and there, but generally keeps the tight balance.
Internal Conflicts: Leftist parties dominate the elections and the mass media, keeping the country pointing to the left. But economically, the corporations are still pushing their agenda, creating a weird mix of all three models.

The Moon is a harsh mistress, this phrase still rings true even today. The first to be terraformed and the closest to Earth of the habitable worlds, the Moon has become nothing but a watered down version of earth. Corporatism, capitalism and e-democracy mingle on this planet where in relative stability compared to the rest of the solar system many nations evolve. Unlike Mars and Venus, the revolutionary ideas of new are less of a social earthquake and more of a class vibration. This is where Corporatism reigns supreme.

One of the stronger outposts of E-democracy, the Republic is the living legacy of the Russian Interkosmos program. It was initially formed by Turkic allies of Russia helped by the old Oligarchy in colonizing the Moon back in the initial period of colonization. Uzbek, Kazakh, Turkmen, Turk, Azeri and Tatar colonists were sent there with Russian officers overseeing them initially. But as time wore on, the title of "officer" grew wider in meaning, as the Russians were mixed into the melting-pot of Turkic cultures.
In time, the unique Turan identity developed, with its own language, and its own secular institutions, they did bring Islam with themselves, but following cultural mixtures and changes, only about 10% identify as Muslims nowadays.
As Russia's Oligarchy collapsed at home, so did the Gökseli Oligarchy on Luna. Considering that their authority was up kept only by the Russian administration itself, the collapse was inevitable. Forced to give power, the change was swift and bloodless. Courts were set up and the former oligarchs were sentenced.
With the help of European and Russian AIs the Turan people quickly established an E-democracy and found itself allied to Europe. Recently Göksel has seen emigration from Turkish and Kurdish regions of earth, which has caused some tensions with the locals. On the other hand, the continuous raids by the environmentalists in the Oceanic Council on Turani drilling-rigs and mining operations in the "Beybitsilik Sea" (called the Crater Sea by everyone else) and the corporatist attempts to encroach on the economic wealth of the country, especially the rich deposits.
With the civil war in the Arab colonies however, Göksel has been thrust back into the spotlight, as military equipment transported by Turani ships was recently captured by Blue-helmets entering Arab territory, apparently earmarked for usage by the #ArabSpring.

Democratic Union of Zvezda:
The Star of the Russian Colonial Empire, Zvezda has entered the history books as the first base to be built on the Lunar service. But it has evolved into so much more. Hundreds of years of non-stop colonial presence has condensed the Zvezdan culture, once a colony of hardy scientists and survivors, it has grown within that image, seeing itself as Luna's survivalists and the mountaineers, even though the country is now covered in massive cities.
The Zvezdan language has developed on its own as well, even though it is based on Russian and it is still mutually-understandable with it, the Zvezdans pride themselves on their independence.
As Independent as they are, they still follow the curve of development of Russia itself, tip-toeing with the dance of the bear on their political scene. It has gone from a communist colony, through a oligarchy and now it entered the 23rd century as a free e-democracy. Closely tied to the motherland, they have faced problems on all fronts, squished between the corporatists in New Lincoln, the radical Horizon and the Cities of Tranquility, it has formed a close relation with the European colony in Athena and a complex, frienemy relationship with Tranquility.
It has suffered terrorists attacks from the pariah state of Horizon and on several occasion it has clashed, even in armed conflicts with Tranquility. Nowadays it is deeply embroiled in the economic and political struggle inside New Lincoln, while border conflicts with Horizon are intensifying. It is not happy with its membership of the Europa pact, but Zvezda sees it as a preferable alternative to what might be in store if a close relationship with anyone else was formed.

Federal Athenian Republic:
Another European Member state, the Athenian Republic has for most of its existence been managed by the ESA, as such, it has served as one of the largest fleet-bases of the European Union, having built a space elevator shortly after those on Earth and the Tranquility one.
For a while it was an entirely military-led republic, where the Legion, Eurofor and ESA found themselves in domination of most. This was evident the most durring the worst day of the Eurocrat tyranny, as Europol was known to operate with impunity on Luna.
That of course all changed with e-democracy, as Europe changed back home, so did it change on Luna. The most radical elements of the military were arrested, Europol disbanded and trials held for Eurocrats.
Nowadays the Federation finds itself on a very good location, in between neutral nations it serves as a trading hub between Tranquility, the Lunarians, Amazônians and Bosans. It is still a port to call for the Eurofor and the ESA and it has suffered some unrest and terrorist actions.

Japanese Development Region of Luna (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd):
Another one of the older colonies on Luna, this one however has not seen nearly the same level of stability that Athena has. Just like in most colonies, the JAXA administered colony quickly gave way to corporations taking control of large sectors of the economy.
This led to one of the biggest corporate clashes in Japanese history, as Mitsubishi and Cannon-Honda clashed over total ownership of the colony. Initially, using underhanded tactics and loads of money the Cannon-Honda Zaibatsu managed to push its agenda on the table, replacing a group of the higher management of the JAXA expedition in Luna.
But soon after they found those same members were disappearing, several even wound up dead in alleyways and the police was clueless. After some hefty bribes, the Zaibatsu used the police to apprehend several local and known Mitsubishi coordinators and managers.
The situation continued to escalate, with attacks on the two companies and their subsidies (Toyota Motor Co's CEO would up with a huge bribe in his pocket, as he sold the company over to Mitsubishi, the Sunroute Hotel Chain discovered that some of its workers were used to smuggle huge loads of cocaine when the Police was "sponsored" by Cannon-Honda to bust said Chain. The fines put them out of business and so on). And as the rivalry increased on Luna, public order begun to slip.
But it became more and more obvious that the Mitsubishi was winning the battle, if not the war. The tipping point came when the hostile takeover of the Martian Space Center blasted into the news. In response a massive bomb exploded outside the Mitsubishi HQ on Luna, in a matter of hours the local services had started the tracking of the perpetrator, with the EU declaring that it would not stand by as the Moon is destabilized by "terrorist forces", a blockade was established by the ESA over the skies of the colony and under the pressure of the Mitsubishi concern the local police arrested a huge number of high-ranking JAXA administrators closely related to the Cannon-Honda Zaibatsu.
From that point forward, Mitsubishi has established its reign all over the Japanese territories on Luna with companies related to the concern slowly enveloping all aspects of society. Still, the corporate warfare continues even today, as the infamous Bishamonten Group, known as the "Solar Cannon-Honda death squad" has been making headlines for attacks and planned attacks on the Lunar holds of the company.

The State of New Lincoln:
The choking giant of Luna, from the ice capped northern regions, to the tundra broken up by crater-lakes all the way to the shores in the south. The State of New Lincoln is enormous. It is officially the biggest state of the North American Union and one of the most populous. But also the most unstable out of all the North American states.
New Lincoln started from Crashland City, the project for the colony begun way after the failure of Horizon and its devolution into a pariah state, as several smaller corporate colonies on the moon were bought off by the NAU. The initial operation was mainly aimed at survival, as the colonies purchested were really badly industrialized (Crashland City was named after the original mission there smashed into the surface, killing the crew).
With heavy industrialization and investment and careful selection of candidates to the colony though, it soon grew quickly. But as it developed, it was slowly surrounded by other colonial efforts far more advanced then the colony itself. Projects like Metropolia, the infamous British colony, the Egyptian Nasser and Iranian Xerses colonies.
So, New Lincoln set off to fight these threats by the only way it knew how, by slowly encroaching on their economies. Thanks to a combination of money, investment and a unsavory business practices, the colony came to dominate the region around it and as Mars exploded, it acquired several colonies, either as a buy off or through military interventions.
This was severally protested on earth, as it became obvious that the NAU had pressured many of the countries involved in this to sell off their colonies, including concluding a deal with the Socialist government of Iran, lobbying for corporatism forces to leave the country in return for the aquisition of its Lunar colony. Not to mention the British acquisition, which is still considered to this day an outright invasion.
Little was the world aware, that this was just the start, the giant Lincolian economy continue to grow and grow, aquiaring a South African, a Japanese and an Algerian colonies. Purchasing land and pushing for more, it came in a direct conflict with Zvezda.
And not only that, as Lincoln continued to grow, its foundations, already shaky, were seriously undermined. Including a bizarre variate of often conflicting nationalities and withholding a strict corporatist authority and hierarchy, the Colony is a mess. On one side it is a massive and unstoppable economic juggernaut, but the frequent protests and violence of the varied communities stuck inside the state are leading to a greater destabilization within the colony that has not been seen since Mars.

Special Administrative Region of of Yuèliàng:
Yuèliàng is the oldest uninterrupted colony on Luna, born out of the PRC's space project, it has evolved and grown in a very Chinese manner, slowly, deliberately, and by absorbing its neighbors.
The steady growth of China however has done little to mask the underlying troubles. Tranquility and Yuèliàng were among the first conflicts to start on Luna, as both the newborn power and China struggled to gain as much territory as possible.
Yuèliàng has changed little as it expanded, an extension of the Chinese model on the moon, it remains the same to this day.

Phteah DeiTuk:
One of the few unique cultures that formed on the moon, the DeiTuk people are exceptional as they are formed from a wide variety of east Asian cultures who have gathered in this melting pot. The colony that became DeiTuk initially started as a refugee plan of the United Nations, where displaced people from east-asia were settled. Diverse groups such as Koreans, Khmer, Vietnamese, Karen, Shan even some Malay and Indonesian groups.
As time wore on, those groups, under the UN, grew close together and their cultures merged and reformed into a whole new culture. In the meanwhile, politically the colony also changed, while a large "red" undercurrent existed in society, the local corporations came to increasingly dominate society.
However it is still the odd-man out in the Corporatist system in space, as the country is still dominated not by a corporate elite, but rather by a multi-party systems that frowns on the corporate "sponsoring" of politics.
As all peace collapsed in Serenity, the Phteah has faced some heavy fighting on its border. Relations with Bardragen have increased steadily as, but the conflicts for the drilling rights in the sea of comets continues to be a sore topic between DeiTuk and the Goksel Republic.

La Liga Republicana:
A sparsely populated country. la liga was born out of a European colony, it was initially conceived as a place to settle European mining operations on the moon. It was primarily settled by Southern Europeans, specifically Italians and Spanish. With Greeks and French being introduced later and to a lesser extent, North African Francophones and Hispanophones.
La Liga however developed far above that, while it remains a major resource extractor, it has moved into the heavy industrial sector. With the European Union growing more and more autocratic in the late 22nd century, the colony became a major center of Euroscepticism and protests erupted all over the nation.
As revolution engulfed the EU, the colony declared independence, thanks to close ties built up with China by the administrators. With little conflicts around it, the colony developed soon afterwords, pulled into the Transpacific Treaty by China it has remained a steadfast ally of the Federation.

The East African Federation's colony on the Moon, it was one of the initial colonies to survive the turmoil of the 22nd century. As the East African Federation joined the Corporatist movement, the colony became a major staging-point of the movement, bordering the neutral Amazonia, and the pro-European JAXA administration, it played an important role in the vicious conflict in the Japanese region. Nowadays it plays a similar role in fighting European influence in Bose.

Province of New Fimi:
New Fimi used to be bigger, the Congolese colony on the Moon is the main carrier of the revolution on the Lunar surface. However as such, it has faced a lot of hostile actions, as it threatens the very existence of many states. It has funded rebels all over the moon and in return, the established nations of the Lunar surface have turned a blind eye as the pariah state of Horizon invaded Fimi.
After 20 years of brutal fighting a peace treaty was signed, but it left large swathes of Fimi territories under Horizon's dominion. Stories of murder, rape and segregationist policies emerge from these territories as Horizon lashes out onto the Congolese stranded in its borders.
This has lead to an increased investment by the Interplaneteriál in supporting Congo on Luna. Even pulling Ujungpandang close to the red sphere. One can see clearly that the Congo is preparing for round two, and in the meanwhile its industrial capacity is invested in spreading the revolution around Luna.

An interesting member of the Interplaneteriál, this independent state is yet another synthetic creation. Colonized by people from all around the world, it was conceived as a world where liberal green leftists would gather. Organizations like Greenpeace and other environmental movements invested heavily in the colony and for a while it seemed like a success. But very quickly it became obvious that it was sitting on unexploited resources and that quickly made it a target for places such as New Lincoln and Goksel.
Feeding into that was the fact that colonial borders were badly defined, so a conflict has emerged over the islands in the crater see. With the Oceanic Council also pushing large states to stop their aggressive drilling and polluting not only on Luna but in space.
It joined the Interplaneteriál exactly for this purpose.

Australia has had an interesting journey, at the start of the 22nd century the effects of global warming hit Australia hard, pulling back its development. But it was the same time period as the Country's first ventures into space.
After the foundation of the British Fascist regime, Australia was the country where the Prince of Wales of the British Monarchy escaped and denounced the regime in London. Eventually, Australia held a referendum which reached the decision that the Prince should be crowned King of Australia, finally breaking the last strings of the Commonwealth.
With King Arthur I of Australia on the throne, the country pushed into the new era. Thanks to the wide success of its colonial venture on Mars, the country increased its investments in space. One of which was the already existing colony of New Parramatta. Settled before the venture in New Bagong, the colony was lacking in developmental aid, but even with that it managed to build a stable economy which all flowed back home, helping regain Australia's status as a south pacific power.
Strictly neutral, Australia has fought to keep itself out of conflicts and while it is sympathetic to the Europeans, it remains neutralist, signing the Non-Aligned Movement charter along with the Scottish and Israeli-Palestinians delegates.

It is one of the most advice post-colonial states in space and its human development easily goes toe to toe with most of the richest earthen nations. However it has had its fair share of problems, keeping neutral has been hard, the terrorist attacks by the America First movement have led it to leading numerous wars with Horizon. Its rivalry with Zvezda has pushed it to ever expand and its virulent anti-colonialism has kept it nearly ally-less.

Indonesia came early in the colonial game, so when it collapsed, its daughter on the moon was left alone. The military administration quickly established command of the colony and kept it peaceful while the civil war raged on earth. Unable to establish contact for long periods of time, the Ujungpandangian administration declared independence.
While it has always been close to Tranquility, the military administration of the state has recently been turning towards the Interplaneteriál and is becoming interested in the teachings of the Islamic Socialists in the movement.

Brasil was a state with a long lasting colonial legacy, it created colonies on the moon and mars and those colonies' stability was directly tied to it. However while Brasil sought its destiny in space, back on earthy it was deteriorating.
Eventually, it imploded, like many other nations on the south american continent, it fell to the struggle between Bolivarianism and everyone else. Many of the oligarchs escaped though, managing to salvage their fortune and run to the Moon and Mars, joining the ranks of the White League and the newly-born Amazonian State.
Constant wars with the Lunar republic and the East African federation have pulled the Amazonian state back in development.

The Republic of Bose is the last remnant of an India that used to exist on earth. It is a republic made up of the many nationalities that made India before its collapse and the Subcontinental wars.
It has now found itself in the situation where the leading nations of the Indian Confederation, a largely powerless organization dominates the Republic. Currently Khalistan and the Tamils are sharing governance over the country, making it slightly pro-European.
But underneath the surface, discontent is bubbling and about to burst.

The Lunar Republic is the product of intense dislike towards any earth-born authority. Created by groups discontent with Tranquility and its perceived betrayal to the idea of Lunar independence it is a radical nationalist movement seeking to liberate the entire moon.
But in practice it is an oligarchy ran by the military, constantly fighting with the Amazonians, Athenians, Lincolians and whoever else stands in its path.

A failed state in all but name, Serenity started off as a joint venture of several smaller companies and groups of men. But after expanding and introducing big companies into the mix and migrants, it begun to decay.
The corruption and general lawlessness gave way to a slow decay in authority with the country findings itself with limited to no authority and gangs and criminal organizations running wild. Communities inside the organization have started to form internal defense forces with each city having its own authority.

Federatzione Bardragen:
Often called the continuation of the earthly Germany. Bardragen is another former European colony. It was colonies predominantly by Europeans of Germanic and Scandinavian descent, including Dutch, Germans, Austrians, Swiss and Danes.
As Europe descended deeper into the Eurocrat autocracy, the Bardragen's people (Called Germanics) grew closer and closer, slowly forming a new culture, which was a unique mixture of all the Germanic and Scandinavian cultures from earth.
Following the revolution in Europe it declared independence with some urging by various powers, but following heavy investment by Tranquility it has landed solidly in the sphere of the "Protector of Luna".

United States of Free Horizon:
Welcome to the new hermit kingdom, the most isolated state in the Solar System. Horizon is a beast beyond the control of both corporations, people and any earthen governments. It's history begun with the restart of the Horizon program when the United States threatened to withdraw from the Tranquility program.
The Horizon station has remained dormant through the years, but it has always been staffed with the most nationalist American scientists out there. Under the Jericho administration, Horizon expanded massively in the 23 century, but Jericho had continued the old system of appointing white American nationalists. Soon after his departure for Mars, the Lunar colony declared its independence from the North American Union, which it saw as too "controlled by the Mexicans and Canadians" and the corporations not giving enough expression of "American Exceptionalism". This ideology was formed way back in Tranquility base, by the America First movement.
However soon after its declaration , the series of wars with both Zvezda and Tranquility begun. Driving Horizon deeply and deeply into its isolationism.

If Mars is the birthplace of revolutions and Luna is the sea of stability on the interstellar stage, Venus sits in a precarious middle in between those two. It is both stable in some areas, and a hotbed for revolutionary activity in others.
Eurasia Pact:
Kolonia Navalni: One of the most advanced colonies on Venus, it was set up following the official end of terraformation by the new Russian government, as the first interstellar colony of the reborn Russia. All of this happened with the heavy assistance with the European owned Union Islands, a fact that is in no way forgotten by both sides, for better or worse. As the colony developed and expanded however, it encountered problems of its own. Following the economic crisis of 2190s, several major regions inside the colony voted to become part of the Polystate, leaving a large gap in the border infrastructure of the colony. A fact ruthlessly exploited by Prosperia, the North American colony, even though it lost several cities itself to the Polystate.
With the civil war in Arabia, the Russians have taken a containment role, attempting to curb influence of the growing Polystate, the border tensions with Prosperia are escalating once again with scirmishes between the PMCs employed by the American Colony and the Russian Colonial Guard. In the meanwhile however, Navalni is increasingly serving as a base for further Russian advances into Venus, with the newlyborn Republic looking to expand its reach over the planet.
From the gleaming golden covered tops of the modern churches in the center of Tsoicity in the capital, through the high-density high-rises that litter the colony, to the wild forests guarded by hardy guardsmen. Navalni is a true Russian outpost, a symbol of Moscow's new-found purpose.

The Union Islands: "Europe doesn't create colonies, it makes members", these words were uttered by the first colonizers of the Union Islands, one of the first colonies on Venus. Built up on the Austraelis islands, the colony is interconnected with complex underwater tunnels, advanced air-network and bridges between some of the closer island chains. Each of the islands is build in the standard pre-planned European matrix.
All is not well in paradise it would seem, however, as the islands and coastal regions grow and advance, the mainland, sparsely populated as it is is in a very slow decline. This became evident following the revolution of the Venetian republic, which engulfed parts of the Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and even European colonies on Aphrodite, cutting a swath of blood and revolution through the poor regions of the Aphrodite colonies.
Even after the intervention of the Tripowers and the following peace treaty, the border is volatile at the best of times, with revolutionaries being increasingly smuggled inside Europe. And now, with the explosion of the Arab civil war all over the solar system, the Union Islands find themselves on the forefront of European efforts to bring e-democracy to the world, owning treaty ports in what is now increasingly known as the Venusian Jahannam, funding the #ArabSpring movement, a loose collection of e-democratic parties fighting the civil war.
In the meanwhile, the dispute over the ownership of the Geisha Sea islands intensifies, as both United Venus, The Refuge and Fumnanya are increasingly bold in striking their claims in the area. Not to mention the Red Flag movements' raids and refugees streaming into the Southern Isle situated off its coast. And of course the constant threat of the ever present Prosperia, and its corporatist interests in and out of the colony, not to mention the PMCs that clash with Eurfor operatives protecting the Islands.
While the high technology of the Union Islands gives the Member State a sense of security, behind the panels of nanofiber the citizens of the Islands are sensing a storm coming, and they are not sure if their machines will be enough to protect them from all of the enemies that surround them.

Ecowas is one of the success stories of Africa, following the long intervention of the European Legion in the warlord torn West Africa, Ecowas was revived, this time concentrated around Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo and Benin, it benefited from nonvenomous European investment.
By the mid 22nd century, Ecowas was a leading African power, absorbing other West African economies. Fumnanya was in turn the first African project to take off, as Europe borough laborers from Ecowas to break up carbon formations during the terraforming project, it re-payed the West African power by helping it establish a safe and advanced home for its people. The colony proved to be really popular with the Igbo minority, who moved to Venus in large numbers.
Today Fumnanya is an advanced industrial economy, while some regions still suffer from poor conditions it is improving at a great speed. Being one of the most populous colonies on Venus, the Fumnanya colony has been looking into taking the Geisha Sea islands, in direct conflict with the Union Islands, United Venus and The Refuge. Fumnanya's relationship with its neighbors is made even more complex when the colony lost several of its population centers to the Polystate and is continuously fending off encroachment by corporate interests of the Sony Corporation run JAXA colony and Prosperia.

The Nordic League::
Integration into the European Union has always been a soar topic in the Nordic countries. Refusing to participate in the Federalist project initially, they took off on their own path of development back in the late 21st century. However, its paths were set to cross with Europe once again, as more and more business interests were tied into the mainland.
The previous attempt at a Nordic Union back in the late 21st century failed, after both Finland and Norway left following arguments over environmental and social policy with Sweden, which, having the largest economy in the region was slowly coming to dominate the initial union.
But while on earth, Nordic unity was hard to achieve, in space, similar groups quickly find a close relationship with each other. AS the earthly Nordic countries were slowly re-absorbed into the EU, the League was created on Venus. Initially a project led by Nordic investors and billionaire, it developed as more and more Scandinavians migrated from earth.
While still the least populated state on Venus, its resource wealth puts it far in the development index. A shared vision of the future has pulled the league to establishing friendly relations with the Russians and eventually joining the Europa Pact as an equal member.
However, while internally it is developing well, it is in a constant combat with American and Chinese corporations attempting to exploit its resource wealthy for themselves and its external borders are tense as it boarders the militant New Afrika. Being mainly populated by white Scandinavians, it is the exact antithesis of what New Afrika fights for and as such it faces severe threats from the state. In the meanwhile the Afrodite Aquisitions Charter Company, a member of the Sol Corp family, continues to attempt to muscle in on economic interests inside the league.
External Conflicts: Occasional skirmish along the Afrikan border, Afrodite PMCs threatening the country, Increasing militarization of Venus.
Internal Conflicts: Low population levels and surrounded by enemies creates a siege mentality in the locals. Discrimination towards the non-white population. Policing the frontiers is becoming increasingly hard.

The Trans-Pacific Friendship Agreement:
The Free Colony of Prosperia: Sandwitched between three Eurasia Pact members, Prosperia is both a gleaming gem in the American colonial Empire and a liability. Ran by CEO Andrew Johnson, a distant relative to the infamous Jordan Jericho III, the colony is a great example of corporatist policies at play.
With all sectors of society completely privatized, the act of controlling the colony involves jostling contracts and orders, something Mr Johnson is and expert in. Known as the puppeteer of the east, he has been able to turn a hefty profit for the colony by pushing American companies and interests in both the European, Russian and Ecowas colonies, while also expanding his hold on economic players inside the United Venus, the Refuge and even Azawad.
The colony has been suspected of smuggling illegal goods inside EU held territories, of instigating attacks by PMCs upon the Russians and Ecowas and even meddling in affairs of the illegal corporations deep in in the Red Flag Movement. As one European politician described it, "it is the place d'armes of the Corporatists in Eastern Venus" and the only thing keeping the region from falling into the grasp of the Europa pact.
But behind the facade of vicious corporate competition and combat lays a problem, surrounded by enemies, this colony is in danger of falling every day and will fight tooth and nail to protect its acquisitions.

The little slice of Chinese heaven on Venus is anything but little or a heaven. Under the choking black skies lies the physical representation of the industrialist Mandate of Heaven. Meticulous planning, long investment and a little bit of luck have made the Federation of China the undisputed master of a large chunk of the Aphrodite Continent.
Inside, to the unstoppable beat of mechanization of industrialization corporatism marches on, with thousands of huge Chinese companies, ran by the old Military elite clashing in a constant race against each other and their enemies to expand their base, their profit and their mastery over the region.
Thanks to the semi-stable borders provided by the Sol-Corp subsidies in the North and the largely neutral Loytatud Federation west, as well as the United Nation administration, the Chinese have concentrated all of their efforts on expanding planet-wide from their huge hold. Pushing back against leftists in New Afrika, attempting to buy off assets in the Nordic League and the Union Islands, propping up the SolCorp ownership of Aphrodite and of course, assisting the Compact, or what is left of it, in Jahannam, in hopes to maintain the Sheikhs' Corporate power over the region.
Japanese Development Region of Venus (Sony Corp.)
The zaibatsu order in Japan always finds a way. The Sony Corporation is no different, closely related to the Cannon-Honda Concern, as any other company it required a slot in the planned colonization of Venus via links through Cannon-Honda and pushed its agenda quickly. While others built the colony, the CEOs of the company plotted, with a little help from their Chinese allies, Sony soon found itself powerful enough to buy-off all other investors in the Venusian colony.
Nowadays, while the colony is still officially known as the Japanese Development Region of Venus, it is nothing more then a completely Sony-ran endeavor. As such, it is obviously a tool for the corporatists in their constant attempts to expand the reach of their corporations and their profits. Pushing it into a conflict with both Ecowas and the Polystate.
But internally the struggle is also strong, as pro-American managers are being promoted with the backing of Prosperia, the Chinese directors are gritting their teeth and attempting to undercut this. Sony has always been a strongly pro-chines element in the Cannon-Honda Concern and the Federation would like to keep it that way.
Afrodite Aquisitions Charter Company
One of SolCorp's most daring ventures, the AACC was acquired by the company after it had already colonized a major part of the Aphrodite continent. Starting of as an investment of a group of billionaires from earth, the Charter Company purchased a large chunk of land in the initial colonization process.
Growing in a reletevely stable part of Venus the company has benefited from Corporate investments from all over the spectrum, with Linpac and SolCorp being one of the largest players in the internal market. It was later purchased by Sol Corp and it now stands as the only physical territory actually owned by the company, quite the divination from their standard modus operanti.
But internally, it suffers unrest and its attempts to muscle in the Nordic market have proven hard at best.

The flames of revolution arrived late on Venus, besides the New Afrikans, who proved to be a magnet for revolutionary activity, but remained contained on their island, there was no other leftist movement on Venus, no true fighters for freedom.
One beacon of hope was the United Venus Movement, but it quickly found itself co-opted by both e-democrats and corporatists, rendering it unreliable after its own revolution.
But while Venus was concentrated elsewhere, discontent simmered in the Corporatist territories owned by Japanese, Chinese, Arabs and Europeans. The workers were fed up all over Venus but in Aphrodite did their anger truly come to be felt. Soon after the crushing of yet another protest with violent force by Chinese soldiers, the powederkeg finally exploded.
Under a revolutionary carrying the pseudonym Sun Yat-Sen, the New Movement for the freedom of Venus rose in revolution. Funded and helped heavily by Interplaneteriál forces, the Venusian Republic swiped away the old order, aspired by the revolutionary wars on Mars and Earth.
After the European Union and China were forced to intervene en-force, the Revolutionary war simmered down, and the Venusian republic was introduced into the Interplaneteriál soon after, becoming an established state even though China would refuse to accept it as such for quite a while.
Nowadays, besides funding and helping spread the revolution, the Republic is also an economic force to be reckoned with, possessing massive infrastructure and heavy industry. It has put its resources and power into a concentrated effort to spread the leftist ideology all over Venus, so far with limited success.
Its real time to shine has arrived however, with the Compact collapsing in the south, the Republic is pushing to assist a broad coalition of leftist groups fighting the three-way cold war.
External Conflicts: An aggressive intervention in the Arab civil war is hampered by a UN deployment in the north of Jahannam. Tensions with the European Union.
Internal Conflicts: Frustration on behalf of the radical revolutionaries. Splits inside the leftist movement. Extreme pollution and terrible working conditions.

Peoples Republic of New Afrika:
A longtime member of the Interplaneteriál, New Afrika has its roots in the communist movements in America during the cold war. While nowadays, following the creation of the NAU, race as a concept has less and less meaning in the American conscious, the economy is still very much dominated by either white or latino people in the North American Union. With segregation while smaller compared to the 21st century America, it is still noticeably as the massive slums in some of the central cities of the Union are still pretty much filled with poor black people.
This led to the strengthening of organizations like the Black Panthers, the Black Guerrilla Family and so on, until they eventually merged under the mantle of the Black Socialist party. This organization has enjoyed much prominence in black communities, and as the transformation of Venus begun, they begun a crowd-funding project, gathering billions to buy land and start a colony there.
Initially pretty much concentrated around the Eistia island, the massive amount of interest and people settling meant that the colony required more land. So blacks would start settling on the Aphrodite mainland and across other islands. Much to the chagrin of the local GM funded colony.
As tensions tessellated, a war erupted and posturing continued, a war erupted, with the Afrikans. Eventually, the weight of the Afrikan industry and men meant that it eventually won the war but not before GM-funded colony collapsed into an internal conflict.
Following these events it was all up and up for the New Afrikans, they expanded to occupy several islands and assimilated the territory acquired on the mainland. However nowadays they seem to be running out of steam, their revolution dying, their economy struggling. The existence of the exact antithesis of the state on its borders, the Scandinavian Nordic League is also not helping.
And now, with the new wave of revolutionary enthusiasm on Venus, the Afrikans are looking towards the future with mixed enthusiasm.

Independent State of Azawad:
The Story of Azawad almost ended in the 21st century as the Tuareg were pushed forcibly back into Mali, which at this point had devolved into a loose confederation of tribes. This trend continued, as the military ruled the south, the Tuareg in the north maintained their independent sentiment in the light of all competing factors.
After the European Legion's deployment in West Africa however, Mali was stabilized and the military put in supreme power. So while Ecowas was rising, the Malian military was attempting more and more to destroy the independent Tuareg.
The fierce nomads resisted for quite a while, but as their struggle continued they missed the chance to move away from the chaos and into the new lands in space. They didn't have the ability as well, forced deeper into poverty in their own homeland.
Eventually, the Interplaneteriál formed, and among its many groups, the operatives of the Azawad Liberation Front were found. This was the ticket to salvation of the Tuareg people, as part of the space program (Interespacio) of the Bolivarians included aiding in the founding of a national homeland for liberation movements. The Azawadi front got the right to create its own colony on Venus as a solution to what was described as a process of genocide against the Tuareg people by the UN, who assisted in the moving of a massive amount of people.
While Azawad is not exactly revolutionary, and is socialist only in name, it proved to be a good ally to the Interplaneteriál, especially the Iranians who have invested heavily in the colony and have settled a large amount of numbers there. Azawadi politics have been inspired by Iranian Islamic Socialism.

The Gracious and Serine Refuge:
Strictly Neutral and multicultural, the Refuge is a long running project of the Red Cross and Crescent, it was initially set up as a refugee camp for internally displaced people from the wars on Mars and Earth, but it grew to a lot more.
As the motto of the state would insist, "Everyone and everything" is free to come and live in the refuge and become a citizen after only a few months of residency.
As such, the refuge however is not without issues, the same problems that plague the United Nations plague the refuge, as it is ran as a subsidiary of the Red Cross and Crescent the entire government organization is built around the structure of the Red Cross and Crescent. The administrative body is made up of different members from different states and as chairs a commission is elected from the United Nations and it perfectly shows the divisive nature of the organization, as the Great Five of the UNSC push their own policies down, they are opposed by the UNGA unhappy with the changing political landscape being dictated by the big five.
On the ground, the Refuge is also fighting for more space, attempting to push resolutions through that will give it access to the contested islands. But both the EU and the United Venus Movement are blocking any such attempts out of fear of loosing their territories and in turn increasing pressure on the refuge.

Internal Conflicts: Conflict within the UN administration, between the UNGA and the UNSC members. It is a nation of tents and camps, vast stretches of land covered with displaced people.

United Venus Movement:
The first real attempt at a single Venusian government, the Movement was created as a political party in the fledgling initial colonies. However, as oppression and civil discontent mounted in those colonies, the idea that the planet will be better off independent from earth slowly crept and spread through the movement.
Eventually the civil administration running the nascent colonies collapsed on several places giving way to the expansionist Untied Venus. With power concentrated in the broad coalition of parties United Venus declared war on its neighbors on the islands bordering the new country. The short war saw the capture of many islands but the complete exhaustion of Venusian forces in the grueling island hopping campaign and a concentrated international coalition that put an end to the expansionism of the Movement. Forcing it to separate with some of the hard-won islands in a peace treaty that ended the war it has been fighting to reclaim this land for a while.
Initially it seemed like the Movement would fall in the red sphere, it however faced an internal struggle as Corporatist and E-Democratic interests took hold in both the economic and political sectors, resulting in the splintered political scene that the Movement is seeing now, with lobbyists, AIs and all sorts of politicians vying for influence.

People's Republic of China (The Red Flag Movement)
Mao was not forgotten, nor was the People's Republic. On earth, the Red Flag movement was a radical political group inside the banned CCP which blew the occasional bomb and gathered for meetings. But while in China itself they found little support, when the colonial game begun, they managed to piggy-back the Chinese Colonial efforts in Mars, where they fought as a PMC for many different organizations, amassing wealth and preparing for their ultimate endeavor, Venus.
On Venus they carved a name for themselves, settling on the islands, fighting Khalistan and displacing a large amount of people, forcing the Refuge to create a center for displaced people in the south of the islands to help said people survive.
Since then, the Red Flag had evolved into something even more radical, funding and helping PMCs from around Venus set up shop in its territories. Funded by an expanding drug trade and a massive black market due to the fact that limited to no government existing in the region.
External Conflicts: Conflicts with Khalistan, Raids on the Union Islands, Posturing with the Venus Movement
Internal Conflicts: A state exists only on paper. Rich communist party, general social chaos outside of the party. Running battles between gangs, PMCs and much more.

State of the Loytatud (also known as the Loytatud Federation)
While it is the moon that is know for the merger of cultures that emerged from the post-colonial period, there are a few cases of this happening outside of the moon. Lytatud is an example of that merger of cultures.
Begging as a colony of General Motors and several European contractors, it made heavy usage of Hungarian, Finnish, German and Dutch laborers. These nations created a shared relation that led to the formation of the new nationality, especially when the war with Afrika came about, which pushed the people closer then ever.
Nowadays the State is fierce independent and maintains only trading relations with the great powers. It has however adopted the E-democratic model of governance, but the left-wing policies continue to dominate internet-voting.
External Conflicts: Some tensions here and there, but generally keeps the tight balance.
Internal Conflicts: Leftist parties dominate the elections and the mass media, keeping the country pointing to the left. But economically, the corporations are still pushing their agenda, creating a weird mix of all three models.

Mars
If the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots, then Mars is fertile. The mother of the revolution, the planet has many children, some of them stillborn, others, strong and healthy, but all moving away from the cradle to create chaos where peace stood.
Europa Pact:
Dependency of New Amsterdam:
The brainchild of Prof. Thera Van Der Hout, the Dependency of New Amsterdam was the second European colony to be born in the red planet. Starting of as an academic project, Professor Van Der Hout presented the idea of the colony to the European Space Agency. However the project, which envisioned large amounts of land reclaiming from the Hellas sea, was deemed as unprofitable and non-military essential. Choosing to use their stations over Mars and the remaining influence over the UN mandate.
However, in the new European Union, there were always people interested in helping. So very quickly, Professor Van Der Hout was directed to the CERS (The European Council for Space Research), which has seen heavy funding from the EU now that it is concentrating on research more then Military Spending.
With enough men and provisions, Thera and her crew set out from Earth to Phobos, where they acquired the necessary equipment to begin reclamation. The technologies that were tested were pretty much experimental, with the EU hoping to use them on earth if successful. And indeed, they were, with a huge strip of land reclaimed from the Hellias sea and settled. By the end of Thera's life, "The Strip" as the capital of New Amsterdam became known, had exploded to house a huge amount of people and turned into a megacity.
However, the project, remaining purely scientific, has been under the complete control of Professor Van Der Hout, with the EU appointing her successor after her death. Even though that doesn't stop people from voting in the E-democratic system, the lack of direct representation on Mars has created friction, but the system has remained in place due to the force of habit, with every vote against it stalling.
Nowadays New Amsterdam controls much more then The Strip, however outside of the bustling super-metropolis that is the strip, the deserts are lightly populated and heavily patrolled. Small communities of farmers and of course, the large mining towns dominate the landscape, with the European Space Agency keeping a close watch. Badits coming from the Wastes, and friction on the borders with all of its neighbors, and the lightly populated and settled border territories makes New Amsterdam an appetizing target, however the European Legion, hardened by its early years on Mars stands guarding, an increasingly hard task in the fast-paced and mobile style of modern combat.
External Conflicts: The Hellas sea conflict, surrounded by enemies
Internal Conflicts: Lightly populated outside of the rich strip, even more lax laws then mainland Europe, Corporatist infringement, outdated executive.
Economic Level: One of the highest on Mars in the Strip, Moderately mediocre in the wastes.
Caran D'Ache:
Fabulously rich, this is the best way to describe Caran D'Ache, named after a French satirist and political cartoonist, the colony was initially built up by a joint NAU (Especially French Canadian) and Russian investments. With many Russian oligarchs retiring to the enormous walled compounds inside the colony.
Caran D'Ache has pretty much remained the same since its creation, a huge walled-off complex of fabulously rich former and current CEOs and huge businesses. Initially a close ally of the North American Union, following the humiliating defeat in the 30 Days war and the changes in Europe, the wealthy patrons, especially the French Canadian corporate elite, felt that the NAU could no longer defend their interests.
Thus begun the weirdest relationship, that is still a sour topic in Europe and Russia, because while the people recognize the regional importance and are close allies with Caran D'Ache, they are basically supporting former corporate oligarchs from Russia and the NAU in what is essentially a Corporatist regime.
But with Caran D'Ache being an important staging area for Russian troops in one of the most contested region, the people are not in a hurry to change this relationship.
External Conflicts: Bordering Radical Christians, Invicta and Aztlan. Immigrants trying to cross into the colony.
Internal Conflicts: Heavily dependent on Russian troops which leads to a paranoia that Russia can, if it chooses, crush Caran D'Ache. Extreme inequality, compared to other states. You are either extremely rich or an immigrant worker near slave labor conditions.
Economic Level: The highest on Mars for the wealthy, not so much for the immigrant laborers.
Realm of Water:
The Realm of Water is one of the many weird creations on Mars. A personal project for the European billionaire Hatim Paquet, the colony is a totally pre-planned green colony, settled by middle-class, European Hashtag activists and e-democratic minded green environmentalists. The colony has become a just that, an environmentalist paradise who's political system draws a lot from the European political system.
However, in recent years, a shift is becoming a apparent, with the Realm becoming more and more entrenched in its beliefs, a growing strain of radicalism is rising within society. With clashes registered both within and outside of the state, the most recent scandal is that it seems the Realm has inerevened in the Arab Civil war with volunteers and weapons for the #ArabSpring side.

Internal Conflicts: Funding, supplying and helping the e-democratic side in the Arab Civil war, which has raised some eyebrows and is the subject of much controversy, an increasingly radicalized population over the ideals of e-democracy

Bundesrepublik Suabia:
Much like Bardragen on Luna, Suabia was settled by German colonists. But unlike Bardragen, Suabia never developed much of a separate ethnicity, instead they accepted all Germanic speaking people as equals, but maintained that they are before all else, German.
The colonization of Suabia begun under the Eurocrat regime, however, it had just begun when the changes hit Europe, leaving Suabia on its own for quite a while. In return, the Germans turned to the next best thing, themselves. Recruiting thousands of Germans from all over the solar system to settle in Suabia, the country swelled its numbers.
However this has created a weird undercurrent in society, while Germany remains allied to Russia and by extension the European Union, a huge German nationalist movement bubbles underneath. Especially considering the two wars fought with the Interplaneteriál over control of the mountains that pass through the region, which were ultimately lost, sympathy has been growing towards the White league and its perceived fervent anti-communism.
External Conflicts: Bad relations with the Laotian Communes, mutual hatred with the Interplaneteriál.
Internal Conflicts: White League-friendly undercurrent in society, right-wing protests and widespread cynicism towards the government. Economic crisis.

Chinese Martian District:
With the loss of Liberty City, Yinghuo City quickly subsumed the mantle of "Corporatist Capital" on Mars. It has not only manged to take that title, but keep it with honor to this day. As the Interplaneteriál was formed, and various revolutionary groups landed on the planet, the Chinese faced an even harder fight, with the mountains teeming with revolutionaries and with the Duster threat winding down, the reds expanded a the expense of many other settlements. This has lead to several wars in the region, with the biggest one being the "Containment war" which resulted in the final containing of the Interpalneteriál. In the war, under the guidance of Yinghou, the Rzeczpospolita which was already fighting a loosing war, Suabia and the Laotian Communes intervened against the rebels.
This was the first concentrated effort against the Interplaneteriál and the first one to achieve a major victory, crushing the rebels in several engagements in both the Rzeczpospolita, the Outliers and the outskirts of Chinese Martian district itself. From that point forward, Yinghou and the controversial "Containment group" have remained a solid land-based counter-balance to the Interplaneteriál. This has also served as one of the greatest examples of Yinghou's political power, as it has effectively formed a coalition of states, who would on other circumstances oppose each-other completely. And while all of the countries participating in said coalition are still on opposite ends of the cold-war divide, Yinghou has managed to keep the group together.
This is but one of Yinghou's accomplishments on Mars. The very creation of the Laotian colonies on Mars have been a Chinese success, thanks to the Chinese economic investment, Laos has been uplifted as the new regional leader in earthly Indochina, and with that, it has been elevated in space. The total victory of the Bishamonten Group, which switched leadership quickly after the loss of Liberty, to a more Chinese friendly one.
Nowadays China is one of the major powers on Mars, its soldiers are seen far and wide in patrolling and its network of spies and informants stretches through many nations. Yinghou is almost terrifyingly protective of its borders and its booming economy means that one can hear Chinese way after you leave the physical borders of Yinghou.
External Conflicts: The Old Outliers are in a worryingly bad state, the Second Empire has been making noises. The constant conflict with the Interplaneteriál, especially the New Baiyun Enclave.
Internal Conflicts: Incredibly wealthy upper class, poor lower class. Increasingly Americanized Corporate oligarchy questioning the civil exams and large bureaucracy.
Economic Level: One of the highest on Mars
JAXA (Martian Space Center):
When the Corporatist managers of the Japanese space agency want to sow fear in the Europhile lobby, they use the MSC as an example. The Bishamonten Group's words are unquestioned here. The group has grown massively after acquiring control of the space center itself, following the loss of the MSC's original base of operation in the central region to the United Nations, the new JAXA administered space that was set up for colonization was completely dominated by the Group's managers and administrators. While it is still a very corporatist state, many observers report that the Martian branch of the Japanese Space Agency is very much a one-party state. Not only does it have an entire parallel organization to the state, complete with Corporate Security recruited from the military, but also their very own police organs that monitor the actual police.
Terrestrially, the MSC is involved in many conflicts, with the wastes being a constant area of contention between both the MSC and New Amsterdam, not to mention the often aggressive stance against the Mountain Republic. In response to all of this, several military cities have been built in the strip of territory ran by the MSC wedged between New Amsterdam and the Mountain Republic. Raids from Ridgecliff are also problematic. And of course, the MSC's managers have been looking carefully at The Second Empire, in fear that it will emerge from its isolation and spread the disease that is their ideology.

Internal Conflicts: A split between the heavily Sinophile leadership and the leftovers from the Pro-American administration, militarization, a virtual one party state.

The Free Colony of Independence:
If Liberty was a festering corporatist hell that used propaganda and a heavy hand to subdue its citizens, then Independence is a corporatist state that keeps its people satisfied by offering a high standard of living. After Sychelles Porter was driven out of Liberty, her and her group returned to earth and turned into a lobbyist group that pushed for another colonization project.
In the end, after the successes that the Chinese reaped and the economic benefits of Mars, she got her wish. However, as a final insult to Mrs Porter, the board decided that there will be another administrator in charge of the colonial effort, sidelining her. Ameríco Suarez was instead chosen, former head of External Information Strategy of Liberty City, he was deemed to be the least "corrupted" by Jordan Jericho III's work. That's how Independence was created, with Suarez leading a much more mild strategy then what Jericho did with both Liberty and previously Horizon.
This however has not sheltered Independence from Liberty's controversy, its heavy usage of private companies for everything from policing to public utilities and its aggressive acquisitions of territory has put it at odds with most of its neighbors. It has also participated in several armed conflicts in the region, the largest of which is the Martian section of the Arab Civil War. Where it is a known fact that Independence has funneled thousands of Ameros and other goods (including vast amounts of weapons) to the Corporatist factions in the Martian Jahannam .
External Conflicts: Conflicts over the wastes with New Amsterdam, Al-Jalil being generally unfriendly to the NAU After the 30 days campaign. Martian Jahannam.
Internal Conflicts: Economic slump, with the Chinese drawing most corporate investments on Mars. Still very much dependent on earth. While Suarez is less aggressive, the corporate leadership is pretty much the same that ran Liberty and are dissatisfied with him.

The Laotian Communes:
Laos is the new big player in Indochina, thanks to Chinese investments the country has grown to eclipse most other regional powers, with the Chinese destroying the political and economic power of countries like Korea and Vietnam who were far bigger, the Laotian economy has grown to fill in the gap left by the rest.
Of course, the country has found a way to display its new-found wealth, with assistance from China it has moved on to colonize space. Seeing as how space has been mostly parceled out, the wild lands of Mars seemed like the best choice. Settling in what is now known as the "New Outliers", where many went to find their fortune, the Laotian Communes have joined China in propping up Corporatism on Mars. Running a program that has settled people from other Indochinese countries, Laos is considered a region leader in every sense.
External Conflicts: The constant border-conflicts in the New Outliers, The Interplaneteriál. Lingering hatred from the Korean-Laotian war.
Internal Conflicts: The Corporate oligarchy is mostly made up of wealthy Chinese, the Laotian middle class is not happy with that. Racial-motivated hatred, with the Laotians discriminating other Indochinese migrants.

The Interplaneteriál:
The Core Territories (Interplaneteriál proper):
The Tharsis plain, a vast expanse of land where no one believed life could boom, now hosts scattered agricultural settlements from the Claritas range, through Deadalus Platau all the way to Olympus Mon and everything in-between. That in-between is inhospitable, harsh, territory, which can only be crossed by air either in large Granma-type gunships or small fast Quds-type aircraft (supplied by Astal), through sparse protected tunnels and onboard the strange Moses-type craft, complex all-terrain vehicles, and the now iconic Francis-type Walkers, all bearing the marks of being products of unique Maroon ingenuity and design, even if they were developed with much Iranian help.
A series of cities and military outposts all report back to the glorious shining beacon that is Nueva Cumaná, where the massive head of Fray Buenaventura de Valdez y Ortega, father of the Maroon movement and intellectual-spiritual leader of billions of souls, receives all visitors as it proudly helms the side of Mount Olympus. A model city, contrasting with the harshness sometimes found outside the capital, Cumaná has come to embody the Maroon vision of a Liberation Theology Communitarian society, providing a balance of barrio-run people-led initiatives and centralized institutions in the hands of the firmly Buenaventurist leftwing clergy. Nueva Cumaná is also an international city, where envoys and delegates from all over the Interplaneteriál gather and make decisions, though undoubtedly it is the Maroon-Bolivarian alliance which dominates, with Iran playing a close second.
The Bolivarian government, transplanted from Earth, has been, as a ruling structure, largely absorbed for the benefit of Maroon society, though many complain that the converted bureaucrats, businessmen and politicians are, while certainly useful to the running of the city and the country at large, mostly just clergymen in word only. Its biggest contribution, however, has been in the development of the Redeeming Forces, borne out of the mixture of the old Bolivarian Elites, the Frontera Force and the new Special Forces and high-ranking arrivals. It is definitely the most advanced and capable military wing of the Core, though its discipline and traditional leanings contrast with the large volunteer-militiamen masses usually fighting for the Godly Cause. Thanks to the fact that most of the colonization was made possible through the Interespacio program, with its inevitable effect in terms of inner-territory influence, and the decisive role that the Redeeming Forces played in the war for Medusa ("The Southern War of Fascist Aggression") as well as their ongoing leadership of the raids against the White League, the Bolivarians have retained their status as a faction within the Interplaneteriál, mostly siding with the more militaristic and nationalistic members of it, with the Maroons playing a powerful middle to the Iranians' hard Socialist left, and the Congolese as a smaller dogmatic Communist core.
As time went on, the Interplaneteriál was slow and begrudgingly recognized by many of its former enemies and the Martian borders became ever-so-defined. After the death of the Founder and the ensuing years lacking in ideological-theological clarity that ensued, Gustavo Ambrosio de Vega Celeste has emerged as the undisputed leader of the Maroon Movement. A figure close to the intellectual establishment, his writings, previous (some say instrumental) to his ascension, unified the competing visions and interpretations of Buenaventura's word, as well as making room for the assimilation of emerging nationalist, racial, environmental and electronic tendencies. He has so far managed to balance the interests of the leftwing clergy with the militaristic Bolivarians, all the while reinforcing the Interplaneteriál's position in the coveted Medusa valley, still seen with greedy eyes by its fascistic neighbors.
Waves of militiamen, Redeeming special operations and Iranian technology were not enough, however, to save the Interplaneteriál from defeat at the hands of the hated Containment Force, a living proof of a fundamental egotist-decadent-capitalist unity in the face of a popular movement, depending on who you ask. Interpretation is also important when assessing the defeat in and the halt of the Great Revolutionary War of Expansion, as all factions blame each other. The outcome of the war has also stemmed controversy running through all faction over whether it was best for the War to stop so the Core could focus on developing itself or if, on the contrary, the Revolution will ultimately die if it stops exporting itself outward. Officially, the Developers have won out in regards to inner official policy, though a much more militant vision predominates at the Interplaneteriál level, where the so-called Missionary Position advocates continued exporting of the Revolutionary flame, a position firmly held by the Congo and others and coyly supported by Iran.
To say that the Tharsis plain is inhospitable to human life, will be an understatement. It is huge, it is dry, it is high-altitude and rocky, farming is nearly impossible without the right technologies and the terrain is impossible to cross with any type of vehicle besides some very specially engineered machines.
This particular specialty of the region has turned it into a place where no colonial power would be interested to participate and even if interest existed, with the success of the Maroons it all but disappeared. As Maroon domination over the mountains and hills of Tharsis expanded, so did the their influence over the Interplaneteriál. Following a period of intense colonization, spurred on by the Bolivarians' Interespacio program the Interplaneteriál grew exponentially on Mars, expanding throughout the entire Tharsis region. During that time-span, the conflicts continued and spilled into a general war, as the Bolivarians moved their seat of government form earth to the new Interplaneteriál core territories leading to the bloody finalization of the borders after the war with the Chinese and their allies, leaving the Interplaneteriál spanning from the Claritas range, through Deadalus Platau all the way to Olympus Mon and everything in-between.
To this day, the fight in the foothills of the mountains continue, because while the constant war with the White League might have died down, the raids continue. But following the recognition of the Interplaneteriál as a player on the galactic stage and the borders have somewhat normalized. However, the state still has many territorial problems left, the most agriculturally productive parts of the country is the Medusa Valley, conquered from the Rzeczpospolita, with the valley still very much coveted by the before-mentioned group.
External Conflicts: The constant conflicts with the White League, tensions with Alba, claims by the Rzeczpospolita, the "Containment Group".
Internal Conflicts: Thousands of groups within the Interplaneteriál, including groups that are conflicting each-other (Maroons v. Bolivarians, Maroons-Bolivarians v. Iran v. Congo, Developers v. Exporters, Religious v. Secular, Religious-Secular v. Atheist) much of the food needs to be imported, horrid terrain means its terribly hard to build stable infrastructure .
Economic Level: Low level of high
Ostān of Atsal:
The Ostān (Province) of Atsal is Iran's first and so far most successful foray into colonization. Unlike most colonies on Mars, who are more or less personal projects, Atsal begun as a concentrated effort of the Iranians. With the new Tudeh party leading the efforts, the People's Islamic Guard were the first to land on the region that is today in full control of Atsal.
The claim itself however proved to be problematic, as plans were already in place by European and American companies to explore the building of a canal connecting the Hellas sea to the Northern ocean. The existence and settlement of Atsal however meant that this canal would end up in the territories of the Iranians, which caused a big amount of controversy on the international stage, especially with Corporatist troops still occupying the oil fields on earth. The early colony was wreaked with strife and constant raids by PMCs on American payroll.
Eventually, however, the Untied Nation saw fit to intervene, following an agreement with the European Union, the e-democracies led a charge in the UN to condemn American meddling and to declare the canal an Iranian project (with heavy EU involvement of course). This led to a shuffling in the general assembly, as e-democracies close to the EU voted in support, and so did Interplaneteriál members, forcing the NAU to back off.
Following the intervention, with a combined investment of the EU and Interplaneteriál (of which the latter was not entirely happy with the former's relationship with Iran], the canal was built completely and around it the Atsal colony sprung up. Over time it expanded, and nowadays it is one of the main pillars of the Interplaneteriál on Mars.

Romanistan:
The Romani people have been discriminated against for ages, called different names and segregated, even with Europe reforming into an e-democracy, the popular sentiment against the Romani remained in society. Eventually, through the Interespacio program, however, the Romani finally found a place they can call home.
Here in the Martian wastes, in the chaos of one of the most lawless regions of Mars, the Romani have carved out their place in the sun. Still very much a roaming society, the Romani have been reinvigorated in their passage, with caravans crisscrossing mars and welcome in every corner of the planet. However this has created a large divide within their society, coming form many different cultures and backgrounds, a single Romani culture has failed to emerge and the clan identity has remained strong, leading to conflicts between a wide arrange of social circles. Besides the clan conflict, there is also the roamer versus settler conflict, with the segments of society that continuously move being opposed by the segment of society that has actually settled and created cities out of the dust of Mars.
Internationally, the Roma people are still very much tied to the Interplaneteriál due to its massive contribution to their emancipation, but they have been clans pulling towards Iran, preferring a more independent outlook. An interesting note is that the Romani traders are the only ones who are welcomed by all sides of the Arab civil war, allowed passage into all territories due to several factors, chiefly their invaluable knowledge of the terrain and their willingness to sell information to the highest bitter. However despite them being welcome, many within the ranks of all factions would much rather they don't, calling them "red spies", which may hold some merit.
External Conflicts: Arab civil war spilling over the border from time to time, raids from bandits in coyote's marsh, ships getting sunk in the Hellas sea conflict.

People's Republic of Korea:
There have been many changes with the government-in-exile of Korea, after the Europeans withdrew from Mars, the Koreans were left on their own devices, and China intervened quickly. Forced to run from china once again, the Korean government sought the assistance of the growing Interplaneteriál, which, along with the Greater Movement and the Rangers managed to relocate a massive part of the Korean people to a greener pastures behind the Tharsus plane which served as a wall to stop expansion.
However in the process of transfer, the Interplaneteriál conveniently lost the ships carrying the Europhile leadership and once the colonists were re-settled, they pressured to hastily formed assembly to elect the Communist wing of the Korean Liberation Organization, which had came to dominate the movement after breaking with the Nightingales over their perceived relationship with China.
Quickly the Communists seized the moment and declared the People's Republic of Korea, instituting a dictatorship very similar in ideology with the Maroon beliefs. Being majority Christian it wasn't a big jump to the Liberation Theology which is now in total domination of Korea. While Korea was reforming and attempting to expand, the Chinese responded by settling their own supporters in the north, the Laotian Communes will serve as the main enemy of the People's Republic for decades.

The Ridgecliff Complex
The Complex has a weird and rocky history, streaming from the early days of the revolutions, in the territories the on the populated edges of the settled Mars, from the groups of bandits that used to inhabit these areas. Following the 30 days conflict, the anarchist greater movement grew in number and of course in territory and the Ridgecliff region was a natural place to expand in.
After the initial conflicts the bandits more or less merged with the movement, with more and more settlers coming in. Battles became common with groups that were also attempting to settle the Ridgecliff region, but in the end, as always, the Greater Movement prevailed.
However the real story begun with Evander Kaube, or as his followers called him, the Al-Syd (loosly translated as "The Master", although its bastardized). A former convict who, like many others, was absorbed by the movement hungry for members. Not much is known about Kaube's life before entering the movement, but afterwords, he expanded through the ranks quickly. Silent and dangerous, he built a following in and outside the movement. Over time, the power that he wielded had extended over the entire Ridgecliff region, where he would silently build up his group of loyalists.
An interesting fact is, that besides the personal devotion to Al-Syd, the group of followers had little ideological rules, generally following the line set by the greater movement. So his ethics was not questioned and he himself remained in good connection with the movement. However, the Ridgecliff movement used that time to ever so slightly move away form the Greater Movement, forming more and more independent regional associations.
Ultimately, Al-Syd had drawn Ridgecliff away from the Greater Movement and under the guise of revolution slowly entangled the region in his authoritarian rule, playing a complex game of puppet-master. Until it finally became formalized and Kaube's followers declared the Complex a single, united nation, under Evander. After some high-level talks, he managed to persuade the Greater Movement's leadership that he is still friendly to them, and indeed, the Complex has remained friendly to both the Greater Movement and the Mountain Republic, however it has taken its own path, becoming a member of the Non-aligned movement along-side Israel-Palestine and New Alba.

The Eros Labs Inc
To say that the Eros Labs are really a member of any organization, is kind of stretching it, but the Eros labs have been an official signer of the Non-aligned movement and with close cooperation with the New Alba and eventually, Israel-Palestine.
Created by as a subsidy of the massive Lunar Industries on Mars, the Eros Labs that were previously completely based on Luna and involved in exploring the moon, found a new calling with the development of pharmaceuticals. It grew quickly and established a tight-knit relation with many countries, acquiring a peace of land of its own after a while. From that point forward, Eros grew into more then just a company, it acquired many smaller businesses and transformed into a small country, providing everything for its citizens.
Eros has been called the "most-peaceful state" by both critics and supporters due to its total refusal to use the strong corporate security to fight anywhere outside of its borders and going to great lengths to avoid war.

Rapture:
No men, no biological creations, only machines. The bloody remains of the fall of SpaceX and capture of SolCorp's bases on Mars, deep in the wastes a small settlement exists, it sits alone and terrifies many humans around the world.
No much is known about the settlement, it is known that it was created by an individual known as DJ Mad Dog, who was later relieved to be the Russian AuSev military grade AI that escaped captivity on earth after it was forced to kill its European counterparts in the Electronic War. The few people who have walked in Rapture speak of a vast city of servers, with few androids who's minds have been converted to accept AIs up-keeping it all. They also speak of vast defenses that obliterate everything not allowed to enter. From time to time those said androids come to trade at the Crossroads, selling technology far more advanced then one could find in Human space, while buying seemingly useless trinkets and machines, before withdrawing back. Sometimes they would use their technology to buy out androids or even AIs.
There, the machines lay reclusive.

The Free Territories:

While the rest of the system typically refers to the whole area of Mars under protection of the Revolutionary Front for Salvation and Liberty and its leadership, the Nightingale Society, as one entity, the so-called Free Territories can most accurately be described as being composed of two parts. These two distinct groups, the Martian Free Territory proper and the Unity City Republic, exist in a symbiotic dichotomy combining both the best and the worst of the Greater Movement.
The first to fall under their control, and most singular powerful entity in the Greater Movement apart from the Society itself, the Unity City Republic was formed after the eventual victory of the original Revolutionary Front and their allies, the IARAS, in what is now known as the War of Liberation. Led by the self-described Citizen Guan Yu, a Nightingale-trained mining organiser responsible for the reformation of the Red Enyalius Society, Unity City defeated the fascist NFUME forces and began a campaign to "clean up" the city; expanding its control, cracking down on "hostile" criminal elements, and restructuring the newly-declared UCR on syndicalist and communal, if not quite anarchist, lines. Despite the ideological differences of the last point, after the peaceful death of Guan Yu, the UCR continued to prove their loyalty to the restructured Revolutionary Front by appointing Operative Shakti of the Abu Ali Mustafa Commando to the position of Chair of the UCLF. Since her accession, the “Iron Lady” (as she is only somewhat ironically named) has continued to uphold UCLF policy, up to and including turning a blind eye to Movement-friendly smugglers and pirates, to say nothing of the occasional crackdown on “reactionaries” and “infiltrators”. Apart from providing the bulk of resources for the Movement, the UCR is also well-known for being something of a launching pad for their military actions on Mars, with two columns of the Front's standing army calling it a home base.
To the south and west of the UCR lies the Martian Free Territory itself, perhaps the closest image to what the general public imagines life under Revolutionary Front control is like. Nightingale influence in the region had existed for years prior but only truly picked up steam after Anga Colony became more and more pro-NAU, provoking tensions between the settlement and the “Illegal” villages and towns it ostensibly protected. The final divide came when the Association of Free Settlements, supported by the Nightingale Society, Revolutionary Front, and chapters of sympathetic unions, issued a declaration proclaiming their mutual solidarity and intention to form a loose confederation organized on Revolutionary Humanist lines. This provoked a series of incidents with Anga and the NAU that culminated in the Anga Hostage Crisis and subsequent 30 Days Campaign, where the ragtag forces of the Revolutionary Front held the line (inspired by a last ditch suicide attack led by al-Malika) for six days and six nights until the arrival of the Israeli-Palestinian Defense Forces.
Since then, the Free Territory has blossomed, amoeba-like in its expansion up to the borders of more organized states. Defended by local Martyrs' Brigades and the rural fedayeen, it is the main base of the Greater Movement system-wide, having developed its own culture, with settlements as disparate as the Front itself. At its best, it is the land of wide-eyed idealists where issues are decided democratically and property is held by all. At its worst, it is a chaotic, ever-changing array of mercenaries, brigands and cutthroats who band together only for common defense or the occasional “ghazwa” (raid) on the White League.

The Outpost of the Free Mountains:
Rednecks, outcasts, hippies and everything have gathered on the Mountain named Apollinaris. This is the Outpost, a city of outcasts built on the top of the mountain that has full control over all passes. In close relation with the Free Territories, they emulate the anarchists, with huge collectively ran mines making profits for the entire community.
External Conflicts: It is speculated the volunteers are participating heavily in the Arab Civil war, The mineral riches have made it an appetizing target
Internal Conflicts: largely lawless state, with communities varrying in size and power, sometimes even fighting each-other only unifying completely against a common foe

Invicta Ltd:
Invicta is the successor of SpaceX, after its absolute defeat by the combined attack of Rangers, the Australian colonists and the AI automation named AuSev, the company's remaining armed personnel rapidly back-tracked away form the HQ. Helped by NAU investment, Invicta withdrew quickly and aggressively from the its former HQ, carving a path of blood akin to the Black March of old, right through the planet, eventually settling on the outskirts of civilization, where they have been brooding and militarizing ever since. This is no longer a company, it even broke its ties with the NAU due to perceived betrayal, it is now a mixture of lunatics which works as a PMC from time to time for those who haven't betrayed their perceived ideals.

Federation of Aztlan:
With Mexico being absorbed into the NAU, not all Mexicans were happy with the fact. Many, especially in the Yucatan were sick of corporate ran monopolies and marginalization. With the birth of Interespacio and the settlement of the far flung regions of Mars, the Mexicans found a new home.
However, not all is well, surrounded by radicals and dangerous nations, the country is attempting to maintain some allusion of peace. Friendly to the Interplaneteriál and the Free Territories but not really allied to anyone in truth, the Mexicans remain solidly out of any sphere, out of fear that joining any will tip the dangerous balance of the New Outleirs.

The Second Empire:
Mars seems to have a particular draw for both right and left wing lunatics, with the Second Empire being a great example of the latter. A creation of one Mencius Moldbug (not the real Moldbug, who was a 20th century thinker, but a 24th century follower who has adopted the same name), the Empire is a successor of any failed attempts through the years to create a neo-reactionary (dark enlightenment) white nationalist utopia.
Projects similar to the Empire have happened many times, /Namibia/ in 2030, /Vanuatu/ in 2090, #Suriname in 2150, #Luna (also known as /The Reaction/ on the image-boards) in 2190 and #Venusstan [known as the first empire] in 2240. All of which failed spectacularly due to varied reasons (from local population killing or throwing away the invaders, to international sanctions and attacks). However the Neoractionary movement was not disheartened, creating the Marsian plan form the ashes of old. With more sponsors (old Russian oligarchs) and a solid plan that avoided many of the old problems that plagued the Dark Enlightenment movement, they managed to not only create something but slowly make it work, extending their grasp over the barren rocks of the south.
From there, a few cities grew, but with the White League sucking up all the "White Power capital" the desperate enlighteners were once again left with only their dream. The project soon devolved into what can only be expected, a semi-feudal society with 20th century technology, and many questioned why they had supported this, when the richest of the group became unquestioned masters over the rest.
On top of it all sat Moldbug, but it was soon reviled, that he was dead and a power struggle is seemingly in the works behind the scenes, but the secretive and reclusive nature of the state means that little to no information leaves it.

The Most Christian Commonwealth:
The Settlement of God/Christ changed, following the death of Alfred Pleath and the aggressive fanatics, the Settlemetn looked inwards, its missionaries spreading the message of god but with the message of peace attached to it.
However, while this was going on, the settlement was reaching out to the Christian communities, many of which prosecuted, on earth. And with the stabilization of the climate and land-grants in the previously inhospitable region, Christian radicals begun to swarm in again. Adherents to the most extreme sects of Christianity were relocated and for a while, the Settlement (now one of many) boomed as the capital of the burgeoning Commonwealth.
However while there were a lot of land for everyone, eventually, the expanding settlement reached the wall of the Minerva line. After a failed incursion on the other side, the Commonwealth realized that it was running out of land to settle, with the western and eastern territories quickly being grabbed by various organizations.
Here is where all the problems of the Commonwealth begun, unable to expand physically outside of its territories and increasingly starved of resources, the inside of the state filled with radical Christians begun to simmer. In order to avoid a costly sectarian civil war, the leaders of the state tightened their grip over the country, ,making their rule aggressive and all-encompassing.
External Conflicts: Perceived and real enemies on all sides
Internal Conflicts: Pentecostalist and Baptists, Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, all sorts of Christian denominations and sects sometimes clashing with eachother. A simmering population unhappy of not getting what was promised to them. Aggressive splinter groups either fighting each-other or raiding outside of the country.

The Celestial State:
Not all Chinese answer to China, there are millions of unhappy Chinese, who would for one reason or anther shun the corporatist regime. They can be found within the borders of the Red flag movement on Venus and its less communistic "brother", the Celestial State.
The Celestial State is made up of Chinese people who have escaped the iron fist of the corporations and believe that China has never truly regained the Mandate of Heaven, despite what the Federation of China would say. Generally in peace with its neighbors, it has however been blamed for allowing militants to slip through its borders into the the Arab Civil war, but its close relations with the rangers have kept it out of the spotlight.

The Second Rzeczpospolita
Polish in name only, the Rzeczpospolita is a mixture of various eastern Europeans unhappy with the Europeans, but still not racist and aggressive as the White League. The Rzeczpospolita begun as a project of Madame Wojciecha Król, a renown Polish nationalist. While her rhythoric of liberating the Polish nation from European yoke did not catch much attention, gaining her the support of a mere 2% of Polish people, due to Poland being one of the dominant European powers, her idea of a "clean slate" for all "of eastern Europe" under the guidance of polish people of course, drew a large cult following.
After a while, the #Rzeczpospolita as the project became known, would, with the surprising help of the Russians, who would prefer to throw the troublemakers out rather then risk confrontation, the Second Rzeczpospolita had begun. After the disastrous first 100 days under Madame Król, who would attempt to push Polish nationalism despite the generally mixed nature of the colonyu, she was sideline rather quickly by her "followers".
From there, the Rzeczpospolita grew massively, with people from all over eastern Europe streaming in, in hopes that they will manage to succeed there. The growth of the Rzeczpospolita was so massive that it was slated to become one of the Martian great powers by the end of the century, but then the war came.
The border skirmishes with the Interplaneteriál over the lush territories of Medusa Valley finally exploded into an all-out war. The war would consume much of the industry of the Rzeczpospolita, with thousands laying down their lives in the mud and jungles of Medusa. The horrors of the war and the eventually peace treaty that was forced due to the stalemate between the "Containment Group" and the Interplanteriál would be deeply ingrained in the Rzeczpospolita's national consciousness.
This event robbed the Rzeczpospolita of its future as a great power, as too many layed down their lives, the lack of jobs and destroyed infrastructure, along with the horrible cost of the war bankrupted the state and to this day the Rzeczpospolita has been trying to regain its status.
External Conflicts: The Interplaneteriál right next door, Suabia's aggressive fascist undercurrent, fearful of rapture
Internal Conflicts: economic downturn and a very very slow recovery, infrastructure in the west is still very much broken, radicals on all fronts, from fascists to communists trying to undermine the state.

Territories of Special Interest
Shaqq-ud-Diba (The Valley of the Hyenas)
Known simply as The Valley, it is a region of constant combat, where the Free Territories and the White League clash in an never-ending game of cat and mouse. Home to mainly nomadic communities that stop only to feed, water themselves or attack other communities which belong to the rival faction.
The Coyote's Marsh
The Marshes are an interesting feature of the Wastes, unlike the rest of the Wastes, the soil here is fertile and good for growing and communities actually exist here. But all of the communities are too small to even be called villages and due to the constant banditry that is ever-present in the Marshes, no-power dares to claim it for themselves, for every attempt to colonize the region has been destroyed by the bandits that live inside. Raids are constantly launched form the various groups inside the Marshes upon countries that border them and piracy is a constant problem in the Hellas sea due to that.
The Crossroads
If the new outliers have anything like a capital, it will be the Crossroads, a territory beyond the ownership of any government, it serves as the meeting point of the new outliers. With merchents from all around Mars meeting there, especially during the summer bazars, where everything and anything can be traded, from ships, through luxury items, through technology to everything available on the black market. The Old Outliers
Squeezed between the Minerva line and the Interplaneteriál, lies the old outliers. Once a thriving collection of little villages and towns who's entire ideology was built around holding the line against the threat, with the Dusters subsiding more and more so did the population of the Outliers. Slowly but surely NGOs left and most government organizations withdrew, assigning funding to more pressing matters. While there are some attacks, they have shrunk to one small one a year, which is nothing. And the Outliers are dying.
The Minerva Line
On every map of Mars, when one looks south, there will be a massive line running through the entire planet's equator. This is what separates humanity from whatever lies in the deserts on the other side. Once upon a time, every inch of the line would be crewed with thousands of volunteers, as time went on and attacks thinned, so did the defenders. Now the vast walls of the line are left rusting, with old automated machinery guarding the post, and with very few young men and old timers sitting on the line. It is a relic of a different time.

Mars
If the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots, then Mars is fertile. The mother of the revolution, the planet has many children, some of them stillborn, others, strong and healthy, but all moving away from the cradle to create chaos where peace stood.
Europa Pact:
Dependency of New Amsterdam:
The brainchild of Prof. Thera Van Der Hout, the Dependency of New Amsterdam was the second European colony to be born in the red planet. Starting of as an academic project, Professor Van Der Hout presented the idea of the colony to the European Space Agency. However the project, which envisioned large amounts of land reclaiming from the Hellas sea, was deemed as unprofitable and non-military essential. Choosing to use their stations over Mars and the remaining influence over the UN mandate.
However, in the new European Union, there were always people interested in helping. So very quickly, Professor Van Der Hout was directed to the CERS (The European Council for Space Research), which has seen heavy funding from the EU now that it is concentrating on research more then Military Spending.
With enough men and provisions, Thera and her crew set out from Earth to Phobos, where they acquired the necessary equipment to begin reclamation. The technologies that were tested were pretty much experimental, with the EU hoping to use them on earth if successful. And indeed, they were, with a huge strip of land reclaimed from the Hellias sea and settled. By the end of Thera's life, "The Strip" as the capital of New Amsterdam became known, had exploded to house a huge amount of people and turned into a megacity.
However, the project, remaining purely scientific, has been under the complete control of Professor Van Der Hout, with the EU appointing her successor after her death. Even though that doesn't stop people from voting in the E-democratic system, the lack of direct representation on Mars has created friction, but the system has remained in place due to the force of habit, with every vote against it stalling.
Nowadays New Amsterdam controls much more then The Strip, however outside of the bustling super-metropolis that is the strip, the deserts are lightly populated and heavily patrolled. Small communities of farmers and of course, the large mining towns dominate the landscape, with the European Space Agency keeping a close watch. Badits coming from the Wastes, and friction on the borders with all of its neighbors, and the lightly populated and settled border territories makes New Amsterdam an appetizing target, however the European Legion, hardened by its early years on Mars stands guarding, an increasingly hard task in the fast-paced and mobile style of modern combat.

Caran D'Ache:
Fabulously rich, this is the best way to describe Caran D'Ache, named after a French satirist and political cartoonist, the colony was initially built up by a joint NAU (Especially French Canadian) and Russian investments. With many Russian oligarchs retiring to the enormous walled compounds inside the colony.
Caran D'Ache has pretty much remained the same since its creation, a huge walled-off complex of fabulously rich former and current CEOs and huge businesses. Initially a close ally of the North American Union, following the humiliating defeat in the 30 Days war and the changes in Europe, the wealthy patrons, especially the French Canadian corporate elite, felt that the NAU could no longer defend their interests.
Thus begun the weirdest relationship, that is still a sour topic in Europe and Russia, because while the people recognize the regional importance and are close allies with Caran D'Ache, they are basically supporting former corporate oligarchs from Russia and the NAU in what is essentially a Corporatist regime.
But with Caran D'Ache being an important staging area for Russian troops in one of the most contested region, the people are not in a hurry to change this relationship.

Realm of Water:
The Realm of Water is one of the many weird creations on Mars. A personal project for the European billionaire Hatim Paquet, the colony is a totally pre-planned green colony, settled by middle-class, European Hashtag activists and e-democratic minded green environmentalists. The colony has become a just that, an environmentalist paradise who's political system draws a lot from the European political system.
However, in recent years, a shift is becoming a apparent, with the Realm becoming more and more entrenched in its beliefs, a growing strain of radicalism is rising within society. With clashes registered both within and outside of the state, the most recent scandal is that it seems the Realm has inerevened in the Arab Civil war with volunteers and weapons for the #ArabSpring side.

Much like Bardragen on Luna, Suabia was settled by German colonists. But unlike Bardragen, Suabia never developed much of a separate ethnicity, instead they accepted all Germanic speaking people as equals, but maintained that they are before all else, German.
The colonization of Suabia begun under the Eurocrat regime, however, it had just begun when the changes hit Europe, leaving Suabia on its own for quite a while. In return, the Germans turned to the next best thing, themselves. Recruiting thousands of Germans from all over the solar system to settle in Suabia, the country swelled its numbers.
However this has created a weird undercurrent in society, while Germany remains allied to Russia and by extension the European Union, a huge German nationalist movement bubbles underneath. Especially considering the two wars fought with the Interplaneteriál over control of the mountains that pass through the region, which were ultimately lost, sympathy has been growing towards the White league and its perceived fervent anti-communism.

With the loss of Liberty City, Yinghuo City quickly subsumed the mantle of "Corporatist Capital" on Mars. It has not only manged to take that title, but keep it with honor to this day. As the Interplaneteriál was formed, and various revolutionary groups landed on the planet, the Chinese faced an even harder fight, with the mountains teeming with revolutionaries and with the Duster threat winding down, the reds expanded a the expense of many other settlements. This has lead to several wars in the region, with the biggest one being the "Containment war" which resulted in the final containing of the Interpalneteriál. In the war, under the guidance of Yinghou, the Rzeczpospolita which was already fighting a loosing war, Suabia and the Laotian Communes intervened against the rebels.
This was the first concentrated effort against the Interplaneteriál and the first one to achieve a major victory, crushing the rebels in several engagements in both the Rzeczpospolita, the Outliers and the outskirts of Chinese Martian district itself. From that point forward, Yinghou and the controversial "Containment group" have remained a solid land-based counter-balance to the Interplaneteriál. This has also served as one of the greatest examples of Yinghou's political power, as it has effectively formed a coalition of states, who would on other circumstances oppose each-other completely. And while all of the countries participating in said coalition are still on opposite ends of the cold-war divide, Yinghou has managed to keep the group together.
This is but one of Yinghou's accomplishments on Mars. The very creation of the Laotian colonies on Mars have been a Chinese success, thanks to the Chinese economic investment, Laos has been uplifted as the new regional leader in earthly Indochina, and with that, it has been elevated in space. The total victory of the Bishamonten Group, which switched leadership quickly after the loss of Liberty, to a more Chinese friendly one.
Nowadays China is one of the major powers on Mars, its soldiers are seen far and wide in patrolling and its network of spies and informants stretches through many nations. Yinghou is almost terrifyingly protective of its borders and its booming economy means that one can hear Chinese way after you leave the physical borders of Yinghou.
External Conflicts: The Old Outliers are in a worryingly bad state, the Second Empire has been making noises. The constant conflict with the Interplaneteriál, especially the New Baiyun Enclave.
Internal Conflicts: Incredibly wealthy upper class, poor lower class. Increasingly Americanized Corporate oligarchy questioning the civil exams and large bureaucracy.
Economic Level: One of the highest on Mars
JAXA (Martian Space Center):
When the Corporatist managers of the Japanese space agency want to sow fear in the Europhile lobby, they use the MSC as an example. The Bishamonten Group's words are unquestioned here. The group has grown massively after acquiring control of the space center itself, following the loss of the MSC's original base of operation in the central region to the United Nations, the new JAXA administered space that was set up for colonization was completely dominated by the Group's managers and administrators. While it is still a very corporatist state, many observers report that the Martian branch of the Japanese Space Agency is very much a one-party state. Not only does it have an entire parallel organization to the state, complete with Corporate Security recruited from the military, but also their very own police organs that monitor the actual police.
Terrestrially, the MSC is involved in many conflicts, with the wastes being a constant area of contention between both the MSC and New Amsterdam, not to mention the often aggressive stance against the Mountain Republic. In response to all of this, several military cities have been built in the strip of territory ran by the MSC wedged between New Amsterdam and the Mountain Republic. Raids from Ridgecliff are also problematic. And of course, the MSC's managers have been looking carefully at The Second Empire, in fear that it will emerge from its isolation and spread the disease that is their ideology.

The Free Colony of Independence:
If Liberty was a festering corporatist hell that used propaganda and a heavy hand to subdue its citizens, then Independence is a corporatist state that keeps its people satisfied by offering a high standard of living. After Sychelles Porter was driven out of Liberty, her and her group returned to earth and turned into a lobbyist group that pushed for another colonization project.
In the end, after the successes that the Chinese reaped and the economic benefits of Mars, she got her wish. However, as a final insult to Mrs Porter, the board decided that there will be another administrator in charge of the colonial effort, sidelining her. Ameríco Suarez was instead chosen, former head of External Information Strategy of Liberty City, he was deemed to be the least "corrupted" by Jordan Jericho III's work. That's how Independence was created, with Suarez leading a much more mild strategy then what Jericho did with both Liberty and previously Horizon.
This however has not sheltered Independence from Liberty's controversy, its heavy usage of private companies for everything from policing to public utilities and its aggressive acquisitions of territory has put it at odds with most of its neighbors. It has also participated in several armed conflicts in the region, the largest of which is the Martian section of the Arab Civil War. Where it is a known fact that Independence has funneled thousands of Ameros and other goods (including vast amounts of weapons) to the Corporatist factions in the Martian Jahannam .

The Laotian Communes:
Laos is the new big player in Indochina, thanks to Chinese investments the country has grown to eclipse most other regional powers, with the Chinese destroying the political and economic power of countries like Korea and Vietnam who were far bigger, the Laotian economy has grown to fill in the gap left by the rest.
Of course, the country has found a way to display its new-found wealth, with assistance from China it has moved on to colonize space. Seeing as how space has been mostly parceled out, the wild lands of Mars seemed like the best choice. Settling in what is now known as the "New Outliers", where many went to find their fortune, the Laotian Communes have joined China in propping up Corporatism on Mars. Running a program that has settled people from other Indochinese countries, Laos is considered a region leader in every sense.
External Conflicts: The constant border-conflicts in the New Outliers, The Interplaneteriál. Lingering hatred from the Korean-Laotian war.

The Core Territories (Interplaneteriál proper):
The Tharsis plain, a vast expanse of land where no one believed life could boom, now hosts scattered agricultural settlements from the Claritas range, through Deadalus Platau all the way to Olympus Mon and everything in-between. That in-between is inhospitable, harsh, territory, which can only be crossed by air either in large Granma-type gunships or small fast Quds-type aircraft (supplied by Astal), through sparse protected tunnels and onboard the strange Moses-type craft, complex all-terrain vehicles, and the now iconic Francis-type Walkers, all bearing the marks of being products of unique Maroon ingenuity and design, even if they were developed with much Iranian help.
A series of cities and military outposts all report back to the glorious shining beacon that is Nueva Cumaná, where the massive head of Fray Buenaventura de Valdez y Ortega, father of the Maroon movement and intellectual-spiritual leader of billions of souls, receives all visitors as it proudly helms the side of Mount Olympus. A model city, contrasting with the harshness sometimes found outside the capital, Cumaná has come to embody the Maroon vision of a Liberation Theology Communitarian society, providing a balance of barrio-run people-led initiatives and centralized institutions in the hands of the firmly Buenaventurist leftwing clergy. Nueva Cumaná is also an international city, where envoys and delegates from all over the Interplaneteriál gather and make decisions, though undoubtedly it is the Maroon-Bolivarian alliance which dominates, with Iran playing a close second.
The Bolivarian government, transplanted from Earth, has been, as a ruling structure, largely absorbed for the benefit of Maroon society, though many complain that the converted bureaucrats, businessmen and politicians are, while certainly useful to the running of the city and the country at large, mostly just clergymen in word only. Its biggest contribution, however, has been in the development of the Redeeming Forces, borne out of the mixture of the old Bolivarian Elites, the Frontera Force and the new Special Forces and high-ranking arrivals. It is definitely the most advanced and capable military wing of the Core, though its discipline and traditional leanings contrast with the large volunteer-militiamen masses usually fighting for the Godly Cause. Thanks to the fact that most of the colonization was made possible through the Interespacio program, with its inevitable effect in terms of inner-territory influence, and the decisive role that the Redeeming Forces played in the war for Medusa ("The Southern War of Fascist Aggression") as well as their ongoing leadership of the raids against the White League, the Bolivarians have retained their status as a faction within the Interplaneteriál, mostly siding with the more militaristic and nationalistic members of it, with the Maroons playing a powerful middle to the Iranians' hard Socialist left, and the Congolese as a smaller dogmatic Communist core.
As time went on, the Interplaneteriál was slow and begrudgingly recognized by many of its former enemies and the Martian borders became ever-so-defined. After the death of the Founder and the ensuing years lacking in ideological-theological clarity that ensued, Gustavo Ambrosio de Vega Celeste has emerged as the undisputed leader of the Maroon Movement. A figure close to the intellectual establishment, his writings, previous (some say instrumental) to his ascension, unified the competing visions and interpretations of Buenaventura's word, as well as making room for the assimilation of emerging nationalist, racial, environmental and electronic tendencies. He has so far managed to balance the interests of the leftwing clergy with the militaristic Bolivarians, all the while reinforcing the Interplaneteriál's position in the coveted Medusa valley, still seen with greedy eyes by its fascistic neighbors.
Waves of militiamen, Redeeming special operations and Iranian technology were not enough, however, to save the Interplaneteriál from defeat at the hands of the hated Containment Force, a living proof of a fundamental egotist-decadent-capitalist unity in the face of a popular movement, depending on who you ask. Interpretation is also important when assessing the defeat in and the halt of the Great Revolutionary War of Expansion, as all factions blame each other. The outcome of the war has also stemmed controversy running through all faction over whether it was best for the War to stop so the Core could focus on developing itself or if, on the contrary, the Revolution will ultimately die if it stops exporting itself outward. Officially, the Developers have won out in regards to inner official policy, though a much more militant vision predominates at the Interplaneteriál level, where the so-called Missionary Position advocates continued exporting of the Revolutionary flame, a position firmly held by the Congo and others and coyly supported by Iran.
To say that the Tharsis plain is inhospitable to human life, will be an understatement. It is huge, it is dry, it is high-altitude and rocky, farming is nearly impossible without the right technologies and the terrain is impossible to cross with any type of vehicle besides some very specially engineered machines.
This particular specialty of the region has turned it into a place where no colonial power would be interested to participate and even if interest existed, with the success of the Maroons it all but disappeared. As Maroon domination over the mountains and hills of Tharsis expanded, so did the their influence over the Interplaneteriál. Following a period of intense colonization, spurred on by the Bolivarians' Interespacio program the Interplaneteriál grew exponentially on Mars, expanding throughout the entire Tharsis region. During that time-span, the conflicts continued and spilled into a general war, as the Bolivarians moved their seat of government form earth to the new Interplaneteriál core territories leading to the bloody finalization of the borders after the war with the Chinese and their allies, leaving the Interplaneteriál spanning from the Claritas range, through Deadalus Platau all the way to Olympus Mon and everything in-between.
To this day, the fight in the foothills of the mountains continue, because while the constant war with the White League might have died down, the raids continue. But following the recognition of the Interplaneteriál as a player on the galactic stage and the borders have somewhat normalized. However, the state still has many territorial problems left, the most agriculturally productive parts of the country is the Medusa Valley, conquered from the Rzeczpospolita, with the valley still very much coveted by the before-mentioned group.

Internal Conflicts: Thousands of groups within the Interplaneteriál, including groups that are conflicting each-other (Maroons v. Bolivarians, Maroons-Bolivarians v. Iran v. Congo, Developers v. Exporters, Religious v. Secular, Religious-Secular v. Atheist) much of the food needs to be imported, horrid terrain means its terribly hard to build stable infrastructure .

Ostān of Atsal:
The Ostān (Province) of Atsal is Iran's first and so far most successful foray into colonization. Unlike most colonies on Mars, who are more or less personal projects, Atsal begun as a concentrated effort of the Iranians. With the new Tudeh party leading the efforts, the People's Islamic Guard were the first to land on the region that is today in full control of Atsal.
The claim itself however proved to be problematic, as plans were already in place by European and American companies to explore the building of a canal connecting the Hellas sea to the Northern ocean. The existence and settlement of Atsal however meant that this canal would end up in the territories of the Iranians, which caused a big amount of controversy on the international stage, especially with Corporatist troops still occupying the oil fields on earth. The early colony was wreaked with strife and constant raids by PMCs on American payroll.
Eventually, however, the Untied Nation saw fit to intervene, following an agreement with the European Union, the e-democracies led a charge in the UN to condemn American meddling and to declare the canal an Iranian project (with heavy EU involvement of course). This led to a shuffling in the general assembly, as e-democracies close to the EU voted in support, and so did Interplaneteriál members, forcing the NAU to back off.
Following the intervention, with a combined investment of the EU and Interplaneteriál (of which the latter was not entirely happy with the former's relationship with Iran], the canal was built completely and around it the Atsal colony sprung up. Over time it expanded, and nowadays it is one of the main pillars of the Interplaneteriál on Mars.

Romanistan:
The Romani people have been discriminated against for ages, called different names and segregated, even with Europe reforming into an e-democracy, the popular sentiment against the Romani remained in society. Eventually, through the Interespacio program, however, the Romani finally found a place they can call home.
Here in the Martian wastes, in the chaos of one of the most lawless regions of Mars, the Romani have carved out their place in the sun. Still very much a roaming society, the Romani have been reinvigorated in their passage, with caravans crisscrossing mars and welcome in every corner of the planet. However this has created a large divide within their society, coming form many different cultures and backgrounds, a single Romani culture has failed to emerge and the clan identity has remained strong, leading to conflicts between a wide arrange of social circles. Besides the clan conflict, there is also the roamer versus settler conflict, with the segments of society that continuously move being opposed by the segment of society that has actually settled and created cities out of the dust of Mars.
Internationally, the Roma people are still very much tied to the Interplaneteriál due to its massive contribution to their emancipation, but they have been clans pulling towards Iran, preferring a more independent outlook. An interesting note is that the Romani traders are the only ones who are welcomed by all sides of the Arab civil war, allowed passage into all territories due to several factors, chiefly their invaluable knowledge of the terrain and their willingness to sell information to the highest bitter. However despite them being welcome, many within the ranks of all factions would much rather they don't, calling them "red spies", which may hold some merit.
External Conflicts: Arab civil war spilling over the border from time to time, raids from bandits in coyote's marsh, ships getting sunk in the Hellas sea conflict.
Internal Conflicts: Pro-Iranian clans are increasingly pushing for alignment with Iran, Settler vs Roamer conflict, a culture divide between the Eastern European Romani and the Western ones, Clan conflicts, small and dispersed population.

People's Republic of Korea:
There have been many changes with the government-in-exile of Korea, after the Europeans withdrew from Mars, the Koreans were left on their own devices, and China intervened quickly. Forced to run from china once again, the Korean government sought the assistance of the growing Interplaneteriál, which, along with the Greater Movement and the Rangers managed to relocate a massive part of the Korean people to a greener pastures behind the Tharsus plane which served as a wall to stop expansion.
However in the process of transfer, the Interplaneteriál conveniently lost the ships carrying the Europhile leadership and once the colonists were re-settled, they pressured to hastily formed assembly to elect the Communist wing of the Korean Liberation Organization, which had came to dominate the movement after breaking with the Nightingales over their perceived relationship with China.
Quickly the Communists seized the moment and declared the People's Republic of Korea, instituting a dictatorship very similar in ideology with the Maroon beliefs. Being majority Christian it wasn't a big jump to the Liberation Theology which is now in total domination of Korea. While Korea was reforming and attempting to expand, the Chinese responded by settling their own supporters in the north, the Laotian Communes will serve as the main enemy of the People's Republic for decades.

The Ridgecliff Complex
The Complex has a weird and rocky history, streaming from the early days of the revolutions, in the territories the on the populated edges of the settled Mars, from the groups of bandits that used to inhabit these areas. Following the 30 days conflict, the anarchist greater movement grew in number and of course in territory and the Ridgecliff region was a natural place to expand in.
After the initial conflicts the bandits more or less merged with the movement, with more and more settlers coming in. Battles became common with groups that were also attempting to settle the Ridgecliff region, but in the end, as always, the Greater Movement prevailed.
However the real story begun with Evander Kaube, or as his followers called him, the Al-Syd (loosly translated as "The Master", although its bastardized). A former convict who, like many others, was absorbed by the movement hungry for members. Not much is known about Kaube's life before entering the movement, but afterwords, he expanded through the ranks quickly. Silent and dangerous, he built a following in and outside the movement. Over time, the power that he wielded had extended over the entire Ridgecliff region, where he would silently build up his group of loyalists.
An interesting fact is, that besides the personal devotion to Al-Syd, the group of followers had little ideological rules, generally following the line set by the greater movement. So his ethics was not questioned and he himself remained in good connection with the movement. However, the Ridgecliff movement used that time to ever so slightly move away form the Greater Movement, forming more and more independent regional associations.
Ultimately, Al-Syd had drawn Ridgecliff away from the Greater Movement and under the guise of revolution slowly entangled the region in his authoritarian rule, playing a complex game of puppet-master. Until it finally became formalized and Kaube's followers declared the Complex a single, united nation, under Evander. After some high-level talks, he managed to persuade the Greater Movement's leadership that he is still friendly to them, and indeed, the Complex has remained friendly to both the Greater Movement and the Mountain Republic, however it has taken its own path, becoming a member of the Non-aligned movement along-side Israel-Palestine and New Alba.

The Eros Labs Inc
To say that the Eros Labs are really a member of any organization, is kind of stretching it, but the Eros labs have been an official signer of the Non-aligned movement and with close cooperation with the New Alba and eventually, Israel-Palestine.
Created by as a subsidy of the massive Lunar Industries on Mars, the Eros Labs that were previously completely based on Luna and involved in exploring the moon, found a new calling with the development of pharmaceuticals. It grew quickly and established a tight-knit relation with many countries, acquiring a peace of land of its own after a while. From that point forward, Eros grew into more then just a company, it acquired many smaller businesses and transformed into a small country, providing everything for its citizens.
Eros has been called the "most-peaceful state" by both critics and supporters due to its total refusal to use the strong corporate security to fight anywhere outside of its borders and going to great lengths to avoid war.

No men, no biological creations, only machines. The bloody remains of the fall of SpaceX and capture of SolCorp's bases on Mars, deep in the wastes a small settlement exists, it sits alone and terrifies many humans around the world.
No much is known about the settlement, it is known that it was created by an individual known as DJ Mad Dog, who was later relieved to be the Russian AuSev military grade AI that escaped captivity on earth after it was forced to kill its European counterparts in the Electronic War. The few people who have walked in Rapture speak of a vast city of servers, with few androids who's minds have been converted to accept AIs up-keeping it all. They also speak of vast defenses that obliterate everything not allowed to enter. From time to time those said androids come to trade at the Crossroads, selling technology far more advanced then one could find in Human space, while buying seemingly useless trinkets and machines, before withdrawing back. Sometimes they would use their technology to buy out androids or even AIs.
There, the machines lay reclusive.

While the rest of the system typically refers to the whole area of Mars under protection of the Revolutionary Front for Salvation and Liberty and its leadership, the Nightingale Society, as one entity, the so-called Free Territories can most accurately be described as being composed of two parts. These two distinct groups, the Martian Free Territory proper and the Unity City Republic, exist in a symbiotic dichotomy combining both the best and the worst of the Greater Movement.
The first to fall under their control, and most singular powerful entity in the Greater Movement apart from the Society itself, the Unity City Republic was formed after the eventual victory of the original Revolutionary Front and their allies, the IARAS, in what is now known as the War of Liberation. Led by the self-described Citizen Guan Yu, a Nightingale-trained mining organiser responsible for the reformation of the Red Enyalius Society, Unity City defeated the fascist NFUME forces and began a campaign to "clean up" the city; expanding its control, cracking down on "hostile" criminal elements, and restructuring the newly-declared UCR on syndicalist and communal, if not quite anarchist, lines. Despite the ideological differences of the last point, after the peaceful death of Guan Yu, the UCR continued to prove their loyalty to the restructured Revolutionary Front by appointing Operative Shakti of the Abu Ali Mustafa Commando to the position of Chair of the UCLF. Since her accession, the “Iron Lady” (as she is only somewhat ironically named) has continued to uphold UCLF policy, up to and including turning a blind eye to Movement-friendly smugglers and pirates, to say nothing of the occasional crackdown on “reactionaries” and “infiltrators”. Apart from providing the bulk of resources for the Movement, the UCR is also well-known for being something of a launching pad for their military actions on Mars, with two columns of the Front's standing army calling it a home base.
To the south and west of the UCR lies the Martian Free Territory itself, perhaps the closest image to what the general public imagines life under Revolutionary Front control is like. Nightingale influence in the region had existed for years prior but only truly picked up steam after Anga Colony became more and more pro-NAU, provoking tensions between the settlement and the “Illegal” villages and towns it ostensibly protected. The final divide came when the Association of Free Settlements, supported by the Nightingale Society, Revolutionary Front, and chapters of sympathetic unions, issued a declaration proclaiming their mutual solidarity and intention to form a loose confederation organized on Revolutionary Humanist lines. This provoked a series of incidents with Anga and the NAU that culminated in the Anga Hostage Crisis and subsequent 30 Days Campaign, where the ragtag forces of the Revolutionary Front held the line (inspired by a last ditch suicide attack led by al-Malika) for six days and six nights until the arrival of the Israeli-Palestinian Defense Forces.
Since then, the Free Territory has blossomed, amoeba-like in its expansion up to the borders of more organized states. Defended by local Martyrs' Brigades and the rural fedayeen, it is the main base of the Greater Movement system-wide, having developed its own culture, with settlements as disparate as the Front itself. At its best, it is the land of wide-eyed idealists where issues are decided democratically and property is held by all. At its worst, it is a chaotic, ever-changing array of mercenaries, brigands and cutthroats who band together only for common defense or the occasional “ghazwa” (raid) on the White League.
External Conflicts: The constant non-ending war in the Valley of Hyaenas (Shaqq-ud-Diba), in theory in conflict with virtually every authority
Internal Conflicts: Supply shortages, land appropriation of descendants of Angan settlers, lack of internal unity, popular sentiment favoring interventionism
Economic Level: unclassifiable, one city can have more then a million smaller communities each with its own economic development
The Outpost of the Free Mountains:
Rednecks, outcasts, hippies and everything have gathered on the Mountain named Apollinaris. This is the Outpost, a city of outcasts built on the top of the mountain that has full control over all passes. In close relation with the Free Territories, they emulate the anarchists, with huge collectively ran mines making profits for the entire community.
External Conflicts: It is speculated the volunteers are participating heavily in the Arab Civil war, The mineral riches have made it an appetizing target
Internal Conflicts: largely lawless state, with communities varrying in size and power, sometimes even fighting each-other only unifying completely against a common foe
Economic Level: unclassifiable
Invicta Ltd:
Invicta is the successor of SpaceX, after its absolute defeat by the combined attack of Rangers, the Australian colonists and the AI automation named AuSev, the company's remaining armed personnel rapidly back-tracked away form the HQ. Helped by NAU investment, Invicta withdrew quickly and aggressively from the its former HQ, carving a path of blood akin to the Black March of old, right through the planet, eventually settling on the outskirts of civilization, where they have been brooding and militarizing ever since. This is no longer a company, it even broke its ties with the NAU due to perceived betrayal, it is now a mixture of lunatics which works as a PMC from time to time for those who haven't betrayed their perceived ideals.
External Conflicts: Completely isolated and aggressive to all its neighbors
Internal Conflicts: Unknown, but since its a gaggle of lunatics, its quite possible there are a few

Federation of Aztlan:
With Mexico being absorbed into the NAU, not all Mexicans were happy with the fact. Many, especially in the Yucatan were sick of corporate ran monopolies and marginalization. With the birth of Interespacio and the settlement of the far flung regions of Mars, the Mexicans found a new home.
However, not all is well, surrounded by radicals and dangerous nations, the country is attempting to maintain some allusion of peace. Friendly to the Interplaneteriál and the Free Territories but not really allied to anyone in truth, the Mexicans remain solidly out of any sphere, out of fear that joining any will tip the dangerous balance of the New Outleirs.
External Conflicts: The conflicts of the new outliers, with radicals, rebels, and crazies all around
Internal Conflicts: Both Zapatistas (hard-left) and PAN party [Hard-right] are pushing for Aztlan to join the Interplaneteriál and White league respectively. Corporations from both Europe and NAU are ducking it out for economic dominance over Aztlan

The Second Empire:
Mars seems to have a particular draw for both right and left wing lunatics, with the Second Empire being a great example of the latter. A creation of one Mencius Moldbug (not the real Moldbug, who was a 20th century thinker, but a 24th century follower who has adopted the same name), the Empire is a successor of any failed attempts through the years to create a neo-reactionary (dark enlightenment) white nationalist utopia.
Projects similar to the Empire have happened many times, /Namibia/ in 2030, /Vanuatu/ in 2090, #Suriname in 2150, #Luna (also known as /The Reaction/ on the image-boards) in 2190 and #Venusstan [known as the first empire] in 2240. All of which failed spectacularly due to varied reasons (from local population killing or throwing away the invaders, to international sanctions and attacks). However the Neoractionary movement was not disheartened, creating the Marsian plan form the ashes of old. With more sponsors (old Russian oligarchs) and a solid plan that avoided many of the old problems that plagued the Dark Enlightenment movement, they managed to not only create something but slowly make it work, extending their grasp over the barren rocks of the south.
From there, a few cities grew, but with the White League sucking up all the "White Power capital" the desperate enlighteners were once again left with only their dream. The project soon devolved into what can only be expected, a semi-feudal society with 20th century technology, and many questioned why they had supported this, when the richest of the group became unquestioned masters over the rest.
On top of it all sat Moldbug, but it was soon reviled, that he was dead and a power struggle is seemingly in the works behind the scenes, but the secretive and reclusive nature of the state means that little to no information leaves it.
External Conflicts: A rather secure border with China and the MSC, mostly because both powers can't be bothered.

The Most Christian Commonwealth:
The Settlement of God/Christ changed, following the death of Alfred Pleath and the aggressive fanatics, the Settlemetn looked inwards, its missionaries spreading the message of god but with the message of peace attached to it.
However, while this was going on, the settlement was reaching out to the Christian communities, many of which prosecuted, on earth. And with the stabilization of the climate and land-grants in the previously inhospitable region, Christian radicals begun to swarm in again. Adherents to the most extreme sects of Christianity were relocated and for a while, the Settlement (now one of many) boomed as the capital of the burgeoning Commonwealth.
However while there were a lot of land for everyone, eventually, the expanding settlement reached the wall of the Minerva line. After a failed incursion on the other side, the Commonwealth realized that it was running out of land to settle, with the western and eastern territories quickly being grabbed by various organizations.
Here is where all the problems of the Commonwealth begun, unable to expand physically outside of its territories and increasingly starved of resources, the inside of the state filled with radical Christians begun to simmer. In order to avoid a costly sectarian civil war, the leaders of the state tightened their grip over the country, ,making their rule aggressive and all-encompassing.
External Conflicts: Perceived and real enemies on all sides
Internal Conflicts: Pentecostalist and Baptists, Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, all sorts of Christian denominations and sects sometimes clashing with eachother. A simmering population unhappy of not getting what was promised to them. Aggressive splinter groups either fighting each-other or raiding outside of the country.
Economic Level: low level of low
The Celestial State:
Not all Chinese answer to China, there are millions of unhappy Chinese, who would for one reason or anther shun the corporatist regime. They can be found within the borders of the Red flag movement on Venus and its less communistic "brother", the Celestial State.
The Celestial State is made up of Chinese people who have escaped the iron fist of the corporations and believe that China has never truly regained the Mandate of Heaven, despite what the Federation of China would say. Generally in peace with its neighbors, it has however been blamed for allowing militants to slip through its borders into the the Arab Civil war, but its close relations with the rangers have kept it out of the spotlight.
External Conflicts: The Arab Civil War, fear of Rapture on its border
Internal Conflicts: Radicals in society are unhappy with the slow pace of reforms, there are those who push for anarchism, local corporations have been bought off by Corporatist interests

The Second Rzeczpospolita
Polish in name only, the Rzeczpospolita is a mixture of various eastern Europeans unhappy with the Europeans, but still not racist and aggressive as the White League. The Rzeczpospolita begun as a project of Madame Wojciecha Król, a renown Polish nationalist. While her rhythoric of liberating the Polish nation from European yoke did not catch much attention, gaining her the support of a mere 2% of Polish people, due to Poland being one of the dominant European powers, her idea of a "clean slate" for all "of eastern Europe" under the guidance of polish people of course, drew a large cult following.
After a while, the #Rzeczpospolita as the project became known, would, with the surprising help of the Russians, who would prefer to throw the troublemakers out rather then risk confrontation, the Second Rzeczpospolita had begun. After the disastrous first 100 days under Madame Król, who would attempt to push Polish nationalism despite the generally mixed nature of the colonyu, she was sideline rather quickly by her "followers".
From there, the Rzeczpospolita grew massively, with people from all over eastern Europe streaming in, in hopes that they will manage to succeed there. The growth of the Rzeczpospolita was so massive that it was slated to become one of the Martian great powers by the end of the century, but then the war came.
The border skirmishes with the Interplaneteriál over the lush territories of Medusa Valley finally exploded into an all-out war. The war would consume much of the industry of the Rzeczpospolita, with thousands laying down their lives in the mud and jungles of Medusa. The horrors of the war and the eventually peace treaty that was forced due to the stalemate between the "Containment Group" and the Interplanteriál would be deeply ingrained in the Rzeczpospolita's national consciousness.
This event robbed the Rzeczpospolita of its future as a great power, as too many layed down their lives, the lack of jobs and destroyed infrastructure, along with the horrible cost of the war bankrupted the state and to this day the Rzeczpospolita has been trying to regain its status.
External Conflicts: The Interplaneteriál right next door, Suabia's aggressive fascist undercurrent, fearful of rapture
Internal Conflicts: economic downturn and a very very slow recovery, infrastructure in the west is still very much broken, radicals on all fronts, from fascists to communists trying to undermine the state.
Economic Level: Medium level of Mediocre
Territories of Special Interest
Shaqq-ud-Diba (The Valley of the Hyenas)
Known simply as The Valley, it is a region of constant combat, where the Free Territories and the White League clash in an never-ending game of cat and mouse. Home to mainly nomadic communities that stop only to feed, water themselves or attack other communities which belong to the rival faction.
The Coyote's Marsh
The Marshes are an interesting feature of the Wastes, unlike the rest of the Wastes, the soil here is fertile and good for growing and communities actually exist here. But all of the communities are too small to even be called villages and due to the constant banditry that is ever-present in the Marshes, no-power dares to claim it for themselves, for every attempt to colonize the region has been destroyed by the bandits that live inside. Raids are constantly launched form the various groups inside the Marshes upon countries that border them and piracy is a constant problem in the Hellas sea due to that.
The Crossroads
If the new outliers have anything like a capital, it will be the Crossroads, a territory beyond the ownership of any government, it serves as the meeting point of the new outliers. With merchents from all around Mars meeting there, especially during the summer bazars, where everything and anything can be traded, from ships, through luxury items, through technology to everything available on the black market. The Old Outliers
Squeezed between the Minerva line and the Interplaneteriál, lies the old outliers. Once a thriving collection of little villages and towns who's entire ideology was built around holding the line against the threat, with the Dusters subsiding more and more so did the population of the Outliers. Slowly but surely NGOs left and most government organizations withdrew, assigning funding to more pressing matters. While there are some attacks, they have shrunk to one small one a year, which is nothing. And the Outliers are dying.
The Minerva Line
On every map of Mars, when one looks south, there will be a massive line running through the entire planet's equator. This is what separates humanity from whatever lies in the deserts on the other side. Once upon a time, every inch of the line would be crewed with thousands of volunteers, as time went on and attacks thinned, so did the defenders. Now the vast walls of the line are left rusting, with old automated machinery guarding the post, and with very few young men and old timers sitting on the line. It is a relic of a different time.
