Ladies and gentlemen, we once again find ourselves in need of a President Pro Tempore, given former Senator Nelson's new occupation. In her place, I propose Senator Paula Brewer, from Oklahoma. Senator Brewer has a breadth of experience and sense of prudence that are truthfully necessary qualities in this post, and I have nothing less than absolute confidence that she can fulfill her duties as expediently as necessary.

The motion, and the vouching for Senator Brewer's capability, is seconded.

I cannot vote for a Socialist President Pro Tempore. The socialist party holds the least amount of seats in the Senate, it should not be allowed to preside over its sessions because it does not accurately reflect its composition.

But the more important issue is the complete lack of responsibility by the Socialist Party. They have failed to apologize for their insane remarks denying the former President's involvement in the Haitian Papers, never adknowledged that their accussations of libel against the free press were false, and have not retracted their accusations of fascisms against the people who simply wanted to know the truth. Unless the Socialist party makes up for these errors, or a more moderate choise for Pro Tempore is made, I will have to not vote in favor.
