GM announcements and other fun stuff

Post by BgKnight »

As I said, this game operates in real time with each day being 6 months. But right now we are on pause while everyone posts their stats. After that I'll give you a schedule.

Due to my course commitments in my current retraining, I haven't got the time for a game played in real time by any means, so I'm going to have to drop out of this one. I can do the stats for anyone else who wants APU though.

You don't have to post every day? Every day is like 6 months, and since it takes a shotload of time for anything to happen in space, you can comfortably post every week and keep up, especially not running a hyperpower.

So uh, just to say mate - it took me like a good hour to write my stats, and that was a first draft. Gesar's still working on his and has spent 2 hours on it. I think it's kinda ambitious to expect all the players to throw this much time and effort into the creation stage of these nations. It's turning out to be pretty time consuming, and with the prospect of continuous running also on the board, the time commitment to the game is starting to look pretty mammoth.

Just to flag this up, man. I still love the idea, but I think it could use some refining, or this thing is never gonna start.

When I was writing this I realized that was going to be an issue.

That's why I inbuilt a way for players to cut down their work if they didn't want to fill the whole thing in.

Look for "[*]" on the stats, those are the required fields that I definitely need filled in. The rest can go fuck itself for all I care.

Here is how the stats look like with the fluff cut out, its 11 lines in total, I don't need more then a sentence for each of them:

Code: Select all

-POLITICAL and GEOGRAPHIC-
Name: Official, big, long, fancy name [*]
Alternative Name: What are you usually called IG? [*]
Capital: Duh [*]

Government Type: No, Idiocracy is not a government type. [*]
Stability: This goes hand in hand with the above, and will likely change decade to decade. As you update your almanac decade to decade. Fairly self-explanatory. No one is perfect, but not everyone is a total basket case either... although I suspect that many of the players are. [*]

Political Objectives: What SHORT-TERM goals drive your govt? [*]

Strategic Goals: What are the long-term goals of the nation? List 3. [*]
Internal Problems: Come on, give the other players things they can exploit. You know you want them to do the same… Don't make me do it. [*]
At least 3.

-Military -
Army:
You know the drill. If you have to guess, you’d probably better ask. [*]

Navy:
We are talking about the Space Fleet here. [*]

History: [*]

With the latest developments, I will give you over the weekend to develop your stats and get everything ready, and we will start the game.

Excellent job so far all, just a few things remaining and we can start. Y'all can start posting opening posts as well, if you want to go ahead.

With snacks' amazing sign in, we are starting tomorrow. I will post an opening post tomorrow and we will get it going. You can see the time thread about what year is which day to plan when you will post or things like that.

Players who haven't posted their stats can still do so, you are not cut off from the game, but until further notice I will treat them as NPCs.

Really sorry about this, but I think I might need to pull out of the game.

I'm going to have to drop this one, I just don't have the time available to keep up with it at the moment or understand what's going on.
