The Spanish government requests official diplomatic support in the Portuguese crisis instigated by the British and Swedes, asking for help in preventing the brutish attempt to install a puppet monarch in Portugal.

We would like to insist to the Empire of Austria that Queen Maria is the official monarch of Portugal, who had been deposed in a coup by the pretender Dom Miguel. We have no intention to do anything more than return the ruler of Portugal to her rightful place as per our long standing alliance with Portugal dating back to the 1300's, of which has been unbroken throughout European history.

Queen Maria and her government sought assistance from the British Government, of whom is her country's chief ally and we have obliged.

We have no intention of war with either Austria nor Spain, but we will not allow a Spanish attempt to support a pretender on the throne of our ally who came to power through a coup. We would recommend that Empire of Austria come in support of the British Government as we do not intend any prolonged involvement beyond returning the Queen back to the throne of which she was deposed. She is no puppet, but rather the original monarch following the death of the previous King.

We would further note that we did not put that Queen on the throne, but rather it done by internal means. Dom Miguel had been exiled from Portugal from his attempted coup on the previous King of Portugal, and that in itself dismisses his claim to the throne through his act of treason

The United Kingdoms protest the illegitimate accusations of the Spanish government. The "Portuguese crisis" began in 1828, two years prior to any Swedish-Norwegian commentary, when Dom Miguel unlawfully usurpted the Queen's throne, dissolved the parliament, failed to hold elections, and breached the Constitution. This is a crisis entirely of his own making, and we are surprised that the Spanish government - who in Latin America have struggled long with radicals and revolutionaries - supports the overthrow of a legitimate government, in a way that undermines the very fabric of the monarchical systems we all rely on for peace, stability, and prosperity. What's next, a Spanish-backed Jacobin revolt? The return of Robespierre, except now he also dances the flamenco?

AUSTRIAN EMPIRE
The Austrian Empire will decline for the time being to become more deeply involved in the matter, for we have no wish to further threaten the outbreak of this conflict into a wider war. To that end, we urge a diplomatic solution to the matter of foreign involvement, and further encourage the Spanish representative to convey our wishes and invitations back to Madrid to a conference on the matter, should it be required to limit such bellicose talk.

Nevertheless, His Imperial Highness wishes it to be expressed that he sends firmly the best of wishes for his granddaughter, Her Most Faithful Majesty Queen Maria II of Portugal. Long may she reign in peace and prosperity.
