Re: The London Gazette
By order of the King:
The name of Lieutenant Lord Nicholas Ramage (son of Nicholas Ramage, Tenth Earl of Blazey, Admiral of the White) of His Majesty's Ship Sibyl is to be published in the London Gazette for November the Seventh in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred, for gallant and distinguished Services Rendered at Sea.
In August of this year, upon the unfortunate and untimely Death in Battle of the Captain, First Lieutenant and Second Lieutenant of the Sibyl, Lord Ramage was able to take command of her and successfully return the Ship to Sailing-Condition. It was then possible for Lord Ramage and his Gallant Crew to complete their Mission, viz., assisting in the evacuation of the Noble Personages of Naples from the Bloodthirsty Hordes of Republican Anarchy, in co-operation with Commodore Aloysius Probus of His Majesty's Ship Lively, successfully rescuing individuals no less high in repute than King Francis of Sicily and Queen Mother Maria Carolina.
I am hereby charged to record His Majesty's high appreciation, and to hereby, by order of the Admiralty, announce that Lord Ramage be gazetted to the rank of Master and Commander, and placed in command of His Majesty's Ship Critias.
