While Pakistan has the utmost sympathy for our fellow Muslims who reside on the Island of Taiwan, our position continues to be that the People's Republic of China is the only government with authority to be recognized as representative of the Chinese people as a whole, Muslim or otherwise. As such, we vote YES to this proposal.

As voting drags out across the first early weeks of 1968, many are shocked when the United States votes in favour of the PRC, yet abstains from recognising it diplomatically. With both the USA and most other world powers siding with the Red Chinese, a majority of the world votes in favour
A majority of Latin American countries, a significant portion of African states, and the most anti-communist of the Asian states of course, of against.
A few anti-communist states in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America chose to abstain, with the Sultan of Oman's representatives not even showing up. Notably, the Bolivian, Chilean and Argentinian representatives follow suit.
As of E1968, the People's Republic of China now sits in the UNGA and UNSC.

Republic of China
So, gentlemen. This is how liberty dies, then. To thunderous applause and with bared teeth, the Reds consume the Earth, in Posadist or just regular Marxist-Leninist form.
You, members of the United Nations, have betrayed every ideal that you once sought to exemplify. Keep that in mind as your world falls apart.
In view of the frenzy and irrational manner that has been exhibited in this hall, the delegation of the Republic of China has now decided not to take part in any further proceedings of this General Assembly.

Re: UNGA: Admitting the People's Republic of China
Saudi Arabia echoes the dismay of the Chinese government, and not simply out of recognition -the solitary recognition, it seems- that the pretender government in Beijing adheres to an ideology which actively persecutes all religions, even those traditionally practiced by the Han people. No, we are distraught today because the United Nations, in an hour of need as dire as the Second World War, has thumbed its nose at the very nation who heroically resisted the threat of fascism and Japanese imperialism even in the face of great atrocities committed against the heroic Chinese people.
But it seems today that the international community wishes to sanction similar atrocities, recognizing a Maoist regime whose "Red Guards" terrorize peasants and politicians alike, destroy priceless works of art and philosophy, and beat down any who stand in opposition to the atheistic cudgel of Mao Zedong Thought. Yet for all our sorrow, we cannot abide a total silencing of the Republic of China. If the legitimate government chooses not to represent itself in these halls -and indeed, we understand that position entirely- then Saudi Arabia will take a stand for them.
Let it be known, then, that our embassy in Taipei officially extends an invitation to President Chiang and his government: the House of Saud stands by its friends, and we will, should the Republic of China prove amenable, begin the arrangements to relay all communications of the legitimate Chinese government to this body, may Allah have mercy on it.
