UNGA: Condeming China for Blocking UK citizens travel

[I do apology if I mess stuff up, 1st time writing something for the UN, also I do apology for the bad writing and shortness of it]

It has come to the attention of the world that the PRC is now using UK citizens to further the threat on Hong Kong and the UK by preventing them from leaving the nation as relations between our two nations are very quickly degrading, they have even the nerve to not give them protected status like diplomats nor a way for the international community to make sure there human rights are being cared for.

In light of this we propose the following to pressure the PRC into releasing the innocent civilians trapped in china

The General Assembly

Upholding the fact that civilians should not be uses as a threat in international crisis as they had nothing to do with them

Keeping in mind the PRC threats of seizure of Hong Kong, UK territory

Keeping in mind the past ATTACKS on UK diplomatic staff and people, as well as jailing UK citizens and hiding it from there home nations

1- Condemns the PRC's use of innocent citizens of the UK happening to be in china at the wrong time as a threat towards the UK and the democracy of Hong Kong

2- Demands that the PRC to either let the innocent citizens of the UK who are currently trapped in china return to a neutral nation or simply return home OR to allow a neutral nation to protect the citizens during there stay in china [possibly at an embassy or something]

3- Requests that if these citizens are harmed or china refuses the second point that an economic boycott and sanctions be placed on the PRC and its leaders until these citizens are returned home

We here in the UK feel the PRC has crossed a line when it put innocent civilians going about there daily lives in the cross hairs of this crisis and request the world's support in this matter, the UK naturally Votes YES

The People's Republic of China is unable to permit British citizens to exit China until the nature of the relations between the UK and Chinese government is clarified for administrative and visa purposes. Britain has maintained its recognition of the PRC since 1950. Its latest statements and actions have seriously called into question this position, in particular its dealings with the Taiwanese authorities and the rogue KMT. In the eyes of China, this is wholly unrelated to the issue of Hong Kong, and British citizens are welcome to exit China as soon as the British government has clarified its position vis a vis the existence of One China and its recognition of the PRC government.

Despite repeated PRC attempts to induce the British government to make ANY statement on this issue, they have refused to do so without reason, placing their geopolitical agenda ahead of one of the most fundamental matters of diplomacy and negotiation - recognition of your counterparts as legitimate. Further to this, they have refused to make any movement in this regard despite it being made clear by Chinese authorities and representatives of other nations (to which we draw particular attention and thanks to the attempts by the Pakistani government) that such a position will be a fundamental pre-requisite for any attempt to return to negotiations which the British had initially broken off in the first place.

Oh, and China votes no.

We thank the Romanian people for their support in the face of imperialism.

No British citizens have been kept hostage, imprisoned, arrested, or in any way inconvenienced as a result of this declaration save as regards their inability to leave the country until Britain makes its position clear. That it continues to refuse to do so in the face of a simple and harmless gesture that would represent the barest hint of good will and peaceful intention makes clear that they have only political gain in mind, rather than any true desire to resolve this tension.

What started this present issue is the British refusal to engage with China and the breaking off of negotiations. Now Britain seeks to establish relations with the Taiwanese authorities in direct contravention of their recognition of the true Chinese government, and claims that we present the barrier to the resumption of talks? We trust that the rest of the world will not be so taken in with these falsehoods.

the PRC "negotiations" where simply either "remove the liberties and rights of Hong Kong and give them to you after 2 years [which I was mistaken for 5, it was 5 turns after the deal would go in place] or we will take Hong Kong". We only are in talks with the ROC besucse they are planning on helping move the population of Hong Kong away from the soon to be oppressor the PRC [at the tune of 600c], we are in these talks and have given them what they have asked for so that we can prevent the oppression of our people [which china seems to be intent on as with there own people].

We have stated many times all the PRC has to do is drop the threat of invasion and we will start up normal business, but until then we will be forced to assume that after the 72 hours Hong Kong will be invaded and that we will be forced to move all of her citizens and abandon the island

Saudi Arabia wishes to emphasize our support of both the United Kingdom and the legitimacy of the Republic of China, despite the rather...bizarre nature of the present argument on the General Assembly floor. As it is, however, we believe it best for the British representative to state, in plain words, the position of the United Kingdom on the One China Policy, so that we might put the present farce behind us, and focus more on the immediate issue of Chinese aggression.

For the moment, therefore, we abstain, with an intention to vote yes pending on the presumptive actions of the Mao regime once Britain clarifies it's position.

The DRC wishes to make clear our anger at the present farce over Hong Kong. At a time when Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia are conquered by cyborgs and aliens, no UNSC member worthy of the position should be threatening war against another, let alone seeking to use the international stage as a platform for bullying.

What has followed the PRC's all-too-clear threat to seize Hong Kong - the treating by both sides of diplomatic immunity and foreign nationals as bargaining tools, the leaking of supposed diplomatic cables... it is embarassing to the United Nations. We too shall abstain upon voting for the moment - until such time as we are able to answer the uncertainties regarding the situation, following clarification with both parties. But with the Treaty of Vladivostok, one presumes that Chinese threats of war are no longer realistic; efforts now must focus on deescalation.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo offers to mediate indirect talks between the PRC and UK, and to try and bring this disreputable saga to an end.

Yugoslavia echos the concerns of Saudi Arabia in this matter. In such trying times, both the United Kingdom and China ought to be able to see past such petty squabbles and unite to face the true threat, not simply to themselves, but to all of humanity. We entreat and emplore both sides to attempt to come to a resolution on this matter with cool heads, and attempt to find a mutually beneficial and satisfactory solution to their problems. Until then, Yugoslavia shall abstain on this vote.
