The Proletariat Unification Party Calls for Unemployment Assistance

Dear Comrades,

Let me talk to you today about the idea of unemployment benefits. This is a system where governments provide individuals with small payments when they lose their jobs. This system originated in the Capitalist stronghold of the United Kingdom, brought into effect by the Bourgeoisie to stave off the working class. Recently Germany has implemented this plan too, no doubt in a desperate bid to stop the inevitable revolution.

We believe, however, that the Communist party should strive to implement this policy. The proletariat in Brazil are small and still lack the political consciousness necessary for a revolution. Fighting for this effort will discipline the workers. Furthermore it will ensure they recognize the tension inherent in a workplace, as the bourgeoisie will not support this effort. The bourgeoisie will be pressured to fight jobs for unemployed workers, lest they pay for the unemployed.

We need to look at the specifics of Brazil's economy to call for the right policy. With such a large rural population, it would be a difficult task to implement this policy in the current Capitalistic order. Instead we call for unemployment insurance for only workers in Trade Unions, specifically Urban Laborers. We call for the creation of a "Brazilian Unemployment Plan". In this plan the government will be required to pay a trade union half of a workers wage when he looses a job. This payment will last for one full year and be paid on regular increments. The trade union will be then give this worker funding. We believe that this policy will also strengthen Trade Unions in our glorious country, and develop worker's loyalty to these important institution.

Workers, join us in strikes on the first Monday of next month to demand this policy!

Democracy is a Sham!

Comrades,

You will hear many misguided workers and politicians argue that democracy will bring about change in Brazil. They say that votes and parliamentary debates will improve the lot of the common laborer. These men are fools. The only way to liberate the population is through class warfare waged through revolution. The Bourgeoisie and Aristocrats control the political system and will crush any change. Furthermore they will bribe and cajole any leaders of socialist organizations into betraying the workers and becoming tools of the elites.

Let me tell you how voting works in the countryside; this will give you an idea of how democracy is flawed. The rural laborers are illiterate and ignorant. They are at the whims of the plantation owners. These Coronels, the local Oligarchs, control the rural migrant laborers. When elections come, the Oligarchs will roundup rural workers. They will hold a festival for these workers where they give them food and drink. Little do these workers know that these token treats are their 30 pieces of silver. While at these festivals the laborers will be given ballots for the conservative parties. They will then be marched off and carefully observed to perform their Judas kiss at the ballot box. Ask the man leaving the box what he just voted for and he won't have a clue. This is how the elites dominate our country. How can a socialist party based on a class conscious urban proletariat hope to compete with the votes of millions of misguided peasants?

The answer is obvious. We cannot. We must instead struggle as the vanguard party to ensure the dictatorship of the Proletariat emerges. Only then can we liberate our innocent brothers in the countryside. Long live the Revolution!

Why not Do Some Good for the Workers?

Comrades,

As long as we are stuck operating in a capitalistic, democracy, we should use the tools at our disposal to create the fertile conditions for a revolution. Specifically, we should use the tools of the state to discipline the laborers to be class conscious. Despite what some might say, parliament has its uses. Our party and affiliates should lobby congress to establish workers councils in industry. There are two paths to achieve this.

First, the conservatives in the Chamber ache and moan over the "great burden" the state run industries have upon their coffers. What a woeful situation! As altruistic members of the working class, we should offer to ease their burden! We should push for efforts to establish Worker's councils to run these factories free from both the state and from the tyranny of management capitalism. The experience of running a factory will do much to prepare the workers for revolution.

Second we should establish a program for the state or national bank to buy factories from the capitalists. As the crisis of capitalism grows ever greater, more and more bourgeoisie will see that they can no longer afford to manage their factories. The state will buy it from them and then let the trade unions run them. Without the parasitic capitalist taking a rent from the workers these industries will be able to produce efficiently for a greater time as scientific socialism is more rational than capitalistic forms of production.

Predictable Results

What do you call doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? The Official Stance of the Communist Party of Brazil. Our fellow travelers on the Left have repeated the same mistakes as the Labor Party in the United Kingdom and the Social Democrats in Germany: thinking they can win in a rigged game. The Bourgeoisie have blocked any progress for the workers. Efforts to fund our rural cousins have been debated into oblivion. A bill to establish an eight hour work day has been vetoed. Even more strangely our Communist allies have voted to end an effort to give our sisters the right to vote. We expect that the repeated interaction with the bourgeoisie will soon corrupt the Communist Party. We can expect them to take the "patriotic stance" and repeat the mistake of 1914 and wage war against the Proletariat of our neighbors in an Imperialist War, if the conservatives call upon them to do so.

The United Proletariat won't be found in the floors of the Chamber. We are in the floors of the factory, in the picket line, in the streets, and soon in the barricades. We will be at the forefront of the struggle and we will be the vanguard that brings the revolution!

Trotsky Coming to Brazil!

Comrades!

Leon Trotsky has been granted asylum in Brazil! Leon Trotsky is one of the foremost revolutionaries and theorists of our era. He was single handily responsible for defeating counter-revolutionary forces in the Great Revolution of 1917. He later served as the People's Commissar of Military and Naval Affairs and defeated the Imperialist forces in the so-called "Russian Civil War". He also served as the People's Commissar of Foreign Affairs where he inspired revolutionaries across Europe to take to the barricades.

Trotsky will be arriving by steam liner on xxx at xxx. Start 3 hours before this arrival, the Proletariat Unification Party will be holding a festival in his honor at the streets and bars near the talk. All supporters of the rights of workers are invited to join us in having drinks and food before the arrival of this amazing figure. We hope you will join us and bring as many friends and comrades as possible, as this will surely become a holiday for the working class.

White Profits Come From Brown Suffering

The Proletariat Unification party abhors racism in any form. For this reason, among many others, we abhor Capitalism. Let us ponder capitalism's origin in Brazil. We can thank our Portuguese ancestors for bringing capitalism to our homeland. Before the "Old World" discovered the new, Brazil was inhabited by tribes that engage in simple modes of production. Most individuals were hunters or gathers, seeking enough food for their own subsistence and enjoying their own free time. In a few parts of our country chiefdom had emerged, where kings demanded the surplus good from others. While exploitative, this was nothing compared to the suffering the soil of Brazil would come to bare witness to.

When the Portuguese arrived, they realized that the fertile soils of Brazil could produce bountiful cash crops, especially sugar. The imperialist also realized that the easiest way to grow this crop was through the brutal exploitation of labor through slavery. The Portuguese sought slaves from Africa and bled these pour souls dry. Every ruling regime needs an ideology to justify its position, and the Portuguese found one in white supremacy. They looked to the ancient philosopher, Aristotle and claimed that Africans were natural slaves. Thus a bias was born in the Brazilian consciousness; a belief that Africans should toil for the benefit of whites.

Even after the end of slavery, this belief persists. Bourgeoisie whites believe it is natural that blacks should serve them. Proletariat whites are taught they should see Africans as inferior, instead of realizing they should unite as allies. The Proletariat Unification Party strives to end racism in all its forms. Afro-Brazilians should know we are the true representatives of your interests and that we will fight to end the dual system of racsim and capitalism that oppresses you.
