As has been stated before, it is the belief of the Federal Union Party that the purpose of this Bill can be accomplished without shackling ourselves to international treaties and obligations. As such we cannot support it, and urge all other Senators to do the same.

I appreciate and understand the sentiments and concerns of the parties who have supported this bill, and I am sympathetic to the plight of the Brazilian people. However the concerns I share with my party have already been expressed, and as such I cannot approve and instead veto this bill, as per my authority in the constitution of our nation.
