The BLOC objects to the provision for segregating 'political agitators' from other prisoner populations. Not only does this clause regard a vague and subjective class of persons, its vagueness leaves it easily abused, and besides the PUF's motives for requesting it being highly suspect, it is likely a wasteful burden on prison budgets that already have woefully little money going towards humane conditions. Besides this, it potentially circumvents due process, given this provides for prison administrations to treat completely legal and nonthreatening speech activity as a crime and to effectively sentence inmates for it without trial.
Perhaps if the PUF and President Luis wish to construct concentration camps for political dissidents, they could at least be honest about it to the public.

Perhaps those who are willfully committing crimes for the purpose of radicalizing those unfortunate souls in jail to ideologies which promote the violent overthrow of the state should have considered such a possible response for their actions rather than assuming the Brazilian government would bow and grovel to their every whim

A petty response which addresses absolutely no concern raised, except to seemingly confirm that the PUF wishes to enshrine the taking of political prisoners into law. I wish I could say I'm shocked, but I'm only disgusted.

Sebastião do Rego Barros, President of the Chamber of Deputies
If no more arguments are to be made by any of the parties here present, I would like to officially call a vote on this bill.

We are quite worried of the precedent of having explicit political prisoners--before long, we may resort to jailing those simply for expressing their political beliefs. As such, the Social Democratic Party (27) will vote Against this measure.
