Empire of Morocco

Post by Orago »

NAME: Empire of Morocco

Image

Ideology: Constitutional Monarchism, Moderate, Anti-Pan-Arabism

Government Structure: Constitutional Monarchy, with split powers between the parliament and Sultan. Monarch is more than a figurehead.

National Leader: Ahmad Ismail (Alaouite Dynasty)

Author for this Nation: Orago

Domestic Power Sources:
  • Monarchist Loyalists (Somewhat highly powerful, vow to keep the rightful, mighty sultan as ruler. Monarch is cordial with France),
  • Constitutionalists (Moderately powerful, want the parliament to have more power to help the people with their needs, but still like the Sultan. Mostly unhappy masses just wanting a better life)
  • Republicans (Low power, want the disbandment of the monarchy and full power to the parliament, liberal, democratic, pro-European ideology)
  • Anti-colonial, Anti-European Militarists (Mediocre yet growing power, want the Sultan to take action against Europeans that meddle in North African affairs. Wants Morocco to be glorious. Fascist, yet not Pan-Arab ideology)
  • Pan-Arab Islamists of Morocco (Somewhat low power, yet growing rather quickly. Want the Monarchy disbanded. Pan-Arab. Islamist. Fascist. Anti-European.)
  • Muhammad Al-Sheriff Pretenders (Very low power, wants the cousin of the current sultan to be on the throne, as they think he is the proper claimant)
International Allies:
  • France (Historically a supplier of weapons and support, France is cordial with Morocco, not quite allies though)
International Antagonists:
  • Spain (Historic rival, due to border disputes and religious differences)
  • Ottomans (If we have an Ottoman Empire, they are enemies and always have been!)
  • Two Sicilies (Holds North African colonies way to close to Morocco)
  • Egypt (Their Pan-Arabism is a threat to our Monarchy)
Military: Morocco in this timeline is way more organized and equipped than historically. However, they are just a notch below European standards. They possess their own quality rifle, small arms, and artillery producing manufactures. However, heavy equipment such as tanks and especially aircraft are purchased from mostly France. They possess very, very few long range, deep ocean navy vessels. They do, however, possess a decent size, decent quality fleet of smaller ships for use in the Mediterranean and coastal waters.

Specific Technologies: In the 20th and 21st centuries, historically, southern Morocco has been known to possess oil shale. Moroccan oil shale is just now being exploited, but thanks to not being torn apart by colonial powers, the technology and means to exploit southern Morrocan oil shale as come to be sooner with the help of French capitalists, engineers and researchers.

Defences: Ever since the days of the Ottoman invasions, Morocco has kept a military presence and fortifications along their eastern border. These include machine gun encampments, barbed wires, artillery emplacements, etc. While these fortifications are not top of the line, European quality, they will definitely deter anyone wanting to cross from Sicilian Libya into Morocco's lands.

Economy: The economy of Morocco is industrialized, far more so than historically. They produce everything a western nation would. The agricultural sector is doing fine, too. Their biggest export though, is oil.

Conflicts and Issues: Pan-Arab nationalism, republican sentiment, minor pretender conflict, growing French influence (especially concerning oil), Sicilian border tension, Anti-European sentiment

If anyone wants to discuss the information, let me know!

EDIT: Also, if no one minds, I'd like to expand Morocco just a tiny bit into the Western Sahara, since they have no colonies
