Solomon Institute-House visit from Killian

"Ah yes..Limbo I remember. He screamed the loudest when I melted his face with my hands"

Sirens could be heard as the two men continued to square up. The NYPD was just arriving on scene.

Taskmaster could see the squad cars in the street below. Cops poured into the lower level as the shooting on the top floor continued between his boys and the Extremis soldiers.

He looked back at Killian who was mid-charge coming straight at him. Killian made contact with Taskmaster, wrapping his arms around Taskmaster's torso. The two men flew off the roof top,landing on a car, caving its roof in. The fall stunned both of them, but they were recovering quickly.

Killian rolled off the car towards the trunk. Two NYPD officers yelled "Show me your hands!". Killian put his hands in the air as his face turned bright red orange. At that moment Killian opened his mouth expelling fire. Both officers were incinerated instantly.

Taskmaster was feeling able enough to get up at this point.

So there was no hope of backup in this fight. Not for Taskmaster. Anyone who might be willing to join in was just going to meet the same fate that those cops did. Right now, there was only one person who could try to match Killian.

The whole street would melt if Tony tried to out-super Killian, but that was fine. He had seen Killian flex this energy, and he knew when it was coming up again. He had seen Killian tried to take him down - successfully more than Taskmaster would like to admit. He had seen Killian fight. Taskmaster was always taking new information, but right now, he had enough.

He charged at Killian. He knew how Killian would charge, so he knew how Killian would block a charge. He knew what to expect when Killian started trying to melt him, and he knew how to dodge and counter. He wasn't going to shoot flames, but he was gonna take advantage of the power the heat packed into his punched, into the speed at which he made decisions. Taskmaster was leaning into his strength, and he was gonna use close quarter tactics to make sure this threat was neutralized - permanently.

As Taskmaster charged Killian, Killian began to turn around towards him, only to catch a right haymaker punch in the jaw, followed by a super-heated left to the ribs. Killian cried out as Taskmaster's left hand sank into his torso, going through the skin and ribcage and into his lungs. Killian immediately shoved Taskmaster backwards and made contact with a push kick creating some distance between the two.

The hole in Killian's abdomen was healing, but he was in pain.

As Taskmaster began to gain some ground in the fight two of his Boys were launched from the roof, slamming into the ground between himself and Killian. They were beyond all help. Their lifeless, mangled bodies, a reminder of the fight happening within the Solomon Institute which was now on fire.

2 Extremis soldiers jumped down from the roof to help Killian fight Taskmaster.

Just as all 3 men were preparing to approach Taskmaster they were struck by what appeared to be rockets. The explosion engulfed the 3 men, and sent Taskmaster flying backwards into the side of the building. Sitting against the wall, Taskmaster's vision was fuzzy. His hearing was damaged, but he knew Extremis would repair it. He watched the Extremis soldiers begin to recover from having their limbs blown off, but before they could multiple Iron Man suits engaged them and hit them with repulser blasts to their chests obliterating their hearts, killing them instantly.

Taskmaster could see Killian approaching him as this happened. He was disfigured by the explosion and Extremis, but filled with inexhaustible rage in his approach towards Taskmaster.

The heart. The soldiers with Killian had each gone down when the Iron suits had taken out their hearts.

"Gonna be honest, I didn't even know there was a second Iron Man, nevermind this many."

Taskmaster fell into a stance that shouldn't make sense, a stance that was more common in movies or video games, not real life. All it would take was one sufficiently heated and charged strike, on the right pressure point and with followthrough. Aim hard, aim straight, and kah-lee-mah.

Taskmaster gulped. Either he took out Killian quick, or he was about to see Killian personally express the full potential of Extremis over Taskmaster, the Iron Suits, and the greater Manhatten area.

Killian's approach picked up as he raised a super-heated fist at Taskmaster. But he was stopped dead in his tracks.

Taskmaster's fist, itself super-heated, went straight through Killian's left pectoral. With his heart destroyed, Killian began to slump forward into Taskmaster who let him fall to the ground.

Taskmaster pulled his arm back to reveal his red orange fist. He turned away from Killian to find himself surrounded by 10 Ironman Suits from the Iron Legion, their repulsers trained on him. Behind the Iron Legion, Taskmaster could see a flood of cops, SWAT, and SHIELD STRIKE team operatives.

Taskmaster could hear the voice of Tony Stark come through one of the Iron Man suits.

"It's over Tony, let us take you in".

Taskmaster shrugged.

It'd been a good day. He could call it a good day. And hey - worst came to worst, play his cards right and he could use some time behind bars to cash back the debt.

He raised both arms above his head, wide and to each side.

Limbo and Leighton, they were paid back. Killian owed some of that debt.

He dropped to his right knee, then his left. He recognized the outstanding odds. For the first time that day, Tony Masters gave up.

One of the musicals he'd seen, an off-broadway - hell, even a college production - came to mind, and Taskmaster laughed. Jail was okay, it was temporary. It was...an opportunity. He laughed more, smiling wider, as his adrenaline recognized the end of the fight, and his fight-or-fight reflex decided to stop pumping the excitement through his veins.

His face, stretched into a grin, cooled rapidly, as did the mask that he had worn throughout the fight. Liquified metal met a scrawling grimace that solidified mid-fall. Taskmaster, with the last of his energy, put his hands behind the back of his head, crossed and ready for handcuffs. He'd been on both ends enough to want to make sure whoevers job it was was easier. Easier on them meant a lighter treatment.

"Bake me...bake me away...toys..."

He passed out.

When Taskmaster came to, he was handcuffed in what he recognized as SHIELD containment van. The van was moving. Overhead he could hear the Iron Legion flying just above as an escort to wherever they were going. There were two SHIELD agents sitting across from him.

One motioned to him to lean forward. He did.

The SHIELD agent whispered, "Hail HYDRA", and then sat back.
