Just as Taskmaster said "hail HYDRA" the lead operative smirked with approval and braced himself.

**SMASH**

Their car slammed into the back of Fury's SUV sending into the patrol car in front of him. 2 more patrol cars then slammed into each side of the SUV.

HYDRA's black van pulled up along Fury's driver side and screeched to a halt. All cars emptied out with HYDRA operatives clad in their blue Metro PD uniforms and black SWAT gear.

All pointed their guns at Fury and let loose in a deafening hail of gun fire.

Taskmaster took a second to collect himself, the impact was more forceful then he'd anticipated. His driver was already out pummeling Fury's driver side window with led.

Taskmaster could see that the window was bullet proof and holding up against the gun fire as he exited the patrol car.

Two things were important to Taskmaster. Getting eyes on Fury, and the Winter Soldier.

Privately, he wrote off the two operatives breaking through the window. Fury's no amateur, and he wasn't gonna just take this lying down.

Taskmaster's job was containment, but if he could make visual contact with the Winter Soldier he could make sure to keep Fury's current position.

Briefly considering his options, Taskie draws his shield. Bullet proof, sure, but vibranium proof? Let's see what he could do. Mentally, he called up a picture of Steve Rogers, and the one that came to mind was footage from virtual reality training session 1138. A classic. Taskie plugged the memory into his reflexes, and with a spin, threw his shield full strength against the SUV's window.

Taskmaster's shield made contact with Fury's driver side window shattering it, but it was now imbedded in the front A-piller of the SUV. Fury blocked the glass from his eyes with his arm.

Taskmaster could see a built-in turret gun pop up from the center console as Fury dove into the passenger side seat. He grabbed the turret gun and returned fire at the HYDRA operatives immediately killing 4 who were firing at him. Their bodies went limp, and dropped quickly to the ground. Fury also appeared to take a couple rounds in his left shoulder. Fury's rounds also incapacitated 3 more HYDRA operatives who were unloading the electronic battering ram from the van.

The SUV then freed itself from the patrol cars and sped away apparently on auto-pilot, heading North on 22nd Street NW. HYDRA operatives scrambled to 2 patrol cars and sped after Fury.

"Alright jetpack. You're getting a hell of a field test."

Gunning in the direction of the battering ram, Taskie hopes to ran it and then chase after the SUV if the pack can take the added weight. If he can catch up to the SUV with it, it should hopefully be enough to wreck the engine block. If that sort of precision isn't possibly, then it may be enough to drop the battering ram and give Furys SUV a new sunroof.

Taskmaster gets to the ram quickly, and initializes thrust on the jet pack. He doesn't go anywhere. He takes notice of the three SWAT clad operatives writhing in pain at his feet while at the back of the van.

Taskmaster can hear the gun fire come over his ear piece as Nick Fury is chased by the 2 patrol cars.

Photographic reflexes don't help much with rocket science. Since the battering ram's a dead option, Taskmaster was gonna have to use the pack to it's limits and get to the SUV as fast as possible, where his target will be the roof of the vehicle. If he can land, he can get to Fury.

Taskmaster flies up to P Street NW and can see Fury's SUV approaching Massachusetts Avenue NW. He catches up quickly and lands on the roof of Fury's SUV denting its roof.

Just as he lands, Taskmaster looks up to see the Winter soldier standing in the middle of the road with what appears to be a grenade launcher trained right at him and the SUV.

Taskmaster knows he has mere seconds to react.

RPG might stop the SUV but Taskmaster has his doubts about it finishing the job. He grabs and tosses the shield towards Winter Soldier. Goalnto disarm, not injure - Taskies reflexes have plenty of Rogers action to call upon, but none of it from the roof of the SUV.

After the throw, Taskie will draw his sword and swipe it through the roof in an arc, hopefully hitting Fury and his turret.

The Winter Soldier grabs the vibranium shield from the air with his metal arm. Forced off of his target he calmly steps out of the way of the SUV as it passes by him within a couple feet of his person. Two patrol cars continue pursuit of Fury's SUV.

Taskmaster see's The SUV is quickly approaching Massachusetts Avenue NW. Taskmaster looks down to verify his sword went through the roof of the vehicle. He finds that his broadsword did not pernitrate into the cab.

Taskmaster feels the vehicle begin to take a sharp left turn onto Massachusetts Avenue NW.

There's not a huge amount of vehicular hand to hand combat, but that doesn't mean one can't improvise.

Crocuh, Catgrab spinning kick through the broken SUV window. Not easy, for anyone - but if three anyone's had done it before, Taskie knows he can probably pull off the maneuver.

Having his hands free to attempt the transition means that he'll be facing Fury unarmed. Immediate disarm was Taskmasters goal. First he just had to survive the motor vehicle parkour transition.

"Mass Ave Northwest - cars fortified, I'm going in to extract the target"

And now time to pull off a maneuver that would win an olympic gold medal, with the added difficulty of speeding along at a hundred miles per hour.

Taskmaster felt a sense of confidence as he completed the move, his feet making contact with Nick Fury's upper body, sending him into the passenger seat in a contorted fashion. Now Taskmaster just hoped it was worth ditching his jetpack and sword to fit through the window.

Taskmaster then felt weightless as the SUV became suspended in the air as it flipped onto its passenger side, bouncing Fury and himself throughout the cab of the vehicle as the SUV rolled over multiple times before coming to rest in front of the Estonian Embassy.

Fury lay unconscious with visible injuries. Compound fractures, deep lacerations, he was a mess. Taskmaster was conscious, and technically in better shape, even with a broken right wrist.

Taskmaster could hear sirens blaring in the distance. He knew they weren't HYDRA patrol vehicles, as they would of broken off the attack by now to avoid being found out.

Injuries were mild, given a that could have happened. There was no time to so anything but be quick.

Tony knew what unconsciousness looked like, and fighting a downed opponent was a favored Solomon Institute course. Usually you pummelled a guy for information.

That wasn't the job.

Pinning Furys limbs, Taskmaster straddles him an from a full Mount grabs Furys head and twists til he hears a crack.

The audible crack Taskmaster hears draws his attention away from the pain in his wrist. Fury's dead, he did it. He could hear sirens almost on top of him now. Taskmaster knew DC police would be onto him after the mayhem that just went on across the city.

Taskmaster hears a loud thud on the body of the flipped SUV. He pokes his head out to see The Winter soldier on the rooftop of a building South, next to the Embassy of Togo. He looks up as he crawls out to see his shield stuck in the SUV.

4 DC Officers South of Taskmaster begin shouting commands at him, using their cars as cover, with Glocks trained on him, "Show me your fucking hands! Now!!". Taskmaster knew more cops would be coming, as he heard another car pull up just to the Northeast of his position.

That was a hell of a throw, but there was something about it that bothered Taskmaster, something at the back of his mind that he ignored for now. Whoever the Soldier was, Taskmaster found himself thanking Winter for his way out.

The next move was key, because when he made a move for the shield, he risked catching a bullet. Throwing the shield right away was the easy mistake to make - his first move would be to pick it up and block the wild shots that would come his way.

Once the cops realized they needed to take aim, that's when he could call up a Rogers throw-catch combo. If he could match it right, the goal was to hit three of them with the shield, before taking the last one down by hand. Killing them wasn't necessary, but not something Taskmaster was going to go out of his way to avoid or achieve.

If he can down them quick, grabbing one of their radios was Taskmasters goal, before preparing for the backup that was arriving.

As soon as Taskmaster grabbed the shield from the SUV shots rang out from the line of four cops to the South of him. The shield held up and blocked the continuous fire. When it ceased, Taskmaster flung the shield as he had planned in his head. The shield made contact with an officers clavicle making an audible crack Taskmaster could hear from across the intersection. He retrieved the shield as it came back the other three cops to his South took cover and reloaded their pistols.

Taskmaster heard quick footsteps running toward him from the Northeast. He poked his head around the ass end of the SUV to see two more cops running at him, Glocks at the high ready trained on Taskmasters position.
