Leader of the Revolution Survives Near Death Experience
Shock reverberated through the country today as it was announced that Muammar al-Gaddafi miraculously survived a brush with death while bathing. The Leader was resuscitated and spoke of a vision that inspired him to push for further reforms of the nation and the world.
Funding Announced
The General People's Congress have announced and acceleration of the Great Man-Made River (GMR, النهر الصناعي العظيم) project in hopes of bringing more plentiful and reliable fresh water to the people more quickly. Adequate hydration provides untold benefits to the health and well being of the people of Libya as well as aiding in the stable production of goods.
Libyan Forces Returning Home
All units of the Libyan Military are entering into a phased withdrawal and will be home with their families by the end of the year. Forces fought valiantly but were not able to overcome French Colonial interference in their attempts to bring the People's revolution to Chad.
Government Reforms Announced
New rounds of reforms have been announced dubbed the "Revolution within a Revolution". They begin with reforms to industry and agriculture and will see the re-opening of small business, as well as liberalization of drug laws and the release of all political prisoners. The Government also announces the country's participation in the Global South Development Bank in an effort to raise the standard of living for all people of the planet.
Iraq-Contra Affair Exposed
The elicit arms ring of the American President Ronald Reagan has been exposed, leading to widespread condemnation from within the international community and the largest single drop in approval for any President in history. An internal commission has been started by the US government and indictments of government officials within the Reagan administration are underway. It is unknown whether this probe will have a lasting impact on the United States government and many across to world are skeptical of the justice that would be metered out by an America investigating itself.

Late 1987
Clean Nuclear Power
We are pleased to announce that the country's decade-long pursuit of clean nuclear power could be at its end with the announcement of a partnership with the People's Republic of China. The agreement includes Chinese funding for half of an initial dual reactor project to be located near the Gulf of Sidra. The location is advantageous and will allow the plant to support a program of seawater desalination as well as domestic power. The potential to export power to neighboring countries at a reduced rate is also possible. Libya will also agree to a number of inspection regimes to ensure the safety of the plant in light of recent events in Three Mile Island and Chernobyl.
Prisoners Released
The Government has announced the release of all political prisoners and POWs in relation to the conflict in Chad, as well as a number of low-level drug offenders. These actions represent a new focus on transparency within the government and a desire to address the global problem of drug abuse in a more humanitarian and less punitive measure. The Government also announced further drawdowns of troops from the frontline of the southern border.
Oil Production Slows
Members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) have convened to reduce global oil supply as one of its few means of punishing the West for its continued support of the murderous regime in Tel Aviv. While members were only required to cut 5 percent, the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya volunteered to lead this effort and pledged a ten percent cut in support of the Palestinian people. Leaders have pledged further cuts are possible while we await the response of the Colonial powers.
